Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme revealed earlier this year that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, and subsequently underwent surgery as a method of treatment. In a new interview, the singer-guitarist reports that he’s gotten the “all clear” as far as his battle with cancer is concerned.
“I’m good. I’m all clear,” said Homme when asked by ITV about his current health status, adding that he’s feeling “the best I’ve felt all year.”
Homme also opened up the recent losses of several people who were close to him. “A lot of people have passed away near [me], nine people in the last … year and a half now.” While he didn’t name any specific people, among his close friends who have passed away in that time were his former Queens of the Stone Age bandmate Mark Lanegan and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Queens of the Stone Age’s music has never been short on bad vibes and lacerating observations, so the significant bile quotient of In Times New Roman…, the band’s eighth studio full-length, comes as no real surprise — especially when you consider what Qotsa leader Josh Homme has experienced in the years since the band’s last album, 2017’s Villains. His divorce from singer Brody Dalle led to a rough public custody child battle, and he recently revealed that he has cancer. Homme has never been one to deny his emotions,...

Queens of the Stone Age are back with the new single “Carnavoyeur,” the latest sample of their upcoming album In Times New Roman…
“Carnavoyeur,” the follow-up to the new album’s lead single “Emotion Sickness,” is built off a steady rock groove, punctuated by bursting staccato chords. As the track progresses, it becomes more intricate and layered, culminating into a sweeping cacophony of sound near its end complete with staggering strings and some psychedelic production.
Thematically, “Carnavoyeur” seems to reckon with life’s natural ebbs and flows, finding power in accepting the things that can’t be changed: “When there’s nothing I can do, I smile,” vocalist Josh Homme sings in a darkly sweet croon, sounding equal parts sinister and restrained as he watches the world around him turn to dust. “We live, we die, we fail, we rise/ I’m a vulture, so I hear goodbyes.” Listen to “Carnavoyeur” below.

Six years after the release of their last album, Queens of the Stone Age are back, this time “in Times New Roman,” or so the title of their upcoming eighth album claims. They’re heralding the release with “Emotion Sickness,” a typically muscular rocker with shades of Elo-style vocal harmonies, as frontman Josh Homme leads a round of “Baby don’t care for me, had to let her go.” A video for the song, directed by Liam Lynch, will debut Friday. In Times New Roman … will come out June 16.

Queens of the Stone Age have announced In Times New Roman…, their first album since 2017’s Villains. The LP is out June 16th via Matador Records, while lead single “Emotion Sickness” is out now.
In Times New Roman… was recorded at Qotsa frontman Josh Homme’s Pink Duck, as well as Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La studio. While Villains had a funk groove thanks to Mark Ronson, the band produced its follow-up on their own, with Mark Rankin handling its mixing. The record will be available on streaming, CD, and a variety of colored vinyl, and pre-orders are ongoing.
“Emotion Sickness” feels like a natural progression for Queens of the Stone Age, who over time have paired their growling guitars with a whimsical swing in their step rather than a hard rock scream. “Use once and destroy/ Single servings of pain/ A dose of emotion sickness I just can’t shake,...

In 2019, the lead singer of the Distillers, Brody Dalle, filed for divorce after 14 years of marriage with the lead singer of Queens Of The Stone Age, Josh Homme. Since the split, the two have been trying to civilly abide by the 50/50 custody agreement for their three children while keeping it out of the public’s eye, but in 2020 things took a turn for the worse.
In a new statement, Homme revealed that Dalle had violated the agreement by, “withholding the children from seeing their father. Despite multiple orders by the Los Angeles Family Court to return the children, as well as being found in contempt of court, Dalle continued to violate the custody agreement.”
According to the statement, things continued to get ugly in 2021 when Dalle tried to file a restraining order against Homme on behalf of their two sons. The court denied the action, and, “It has since been...

Josh Homme has issued a lengthy statement addressing the custody battle over his three children with ex-partner Brody Dalle.
The Queens of the Stone Age frontman and fellow musician Dalle were married between 2005 and 2019, and share three children together: a 17-year-old daughter and two sons, 11 and seven.
Over the past two years, the former couple have been involved in various legal disputes involving their children. In 2021, Dalle was sentenced to 60 hours of community service after being found guilty of withholding their youngest son from court-mandated time with Homme.
Now, Homme’s representatives say he and his family have been granted a restraining order against Dalle.
“Recent actions by Brody Dalle and [her current boyfriend] Gunner Foxx have not only caused the children emotional harm, but have also put them in great danger,” the statement alleged.
“As a result of these actions, on March 16, 2023 The Los Angeles Family Court ordered a permanent restraining order...

Josh Homme has shared a lengthy statement regarding the singer-guitarist’s ongoing bitter custody battle with his ex-wife and Distillers founder Brody Dalle over the pair’s three children. It’s one of the few times the Queens of the Stone Age frontman has spoken on the situation since the dispute started after Homme and Dalle’s 2019 divorce.
“In light of the continued falsehoods, the repeated invasions of the children’s privacy and the resulting emotional harm, it is time that the truth be told,” Homme said in his new statement.

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has released a lengthy statement detailing his custody battle with his ex-wife Brody Dalle, lead singer of the band The Distillers. In the statement, Homme attempts to set the record straight on a situation that took a “dark turn.”
The split between Homme and Dalle made headlines in recent years, with TMZ reporting in September 2021 that their daughter filed a restraining order against Homme, and that their sons attempted to do the same. The new statement reveals that Homme is the sole legal guardian of the former couple’s minor children, and insists that the restraining-order paperwork was actually filed by Dalle’s current boyfriend, Gunner Foxx, with Dalle admitting that she knew Foxx forged her signature on at least one of the documents.

Nikki Lane speaks as fast as she moves. The gregarious singer-songwriter is dashing around Nashville’s ornate Hotel Indigo, shaking hands and arranging stock. She’s here to put the finishing touches to her latest project – an intimate outpost of her High Class Hillbilly vintage boutique in the hotel’s lobby – and everything needs to be just perfect. “I’m an artist but I’m also an entrepreneur, big time,” Lane states, in her warm Southern twang. Finally, in her star-printed denim and with a grin as wide as the nearby Cumberland River, she sits down for a breather.
A country music mainstay for the last decade, Lane has just released her first album in five years, Denim & Diamonds. With Josh Homme of Queens of The Stone Age on production duties, her classic melodies are backed by strutting guitars and an indelible swagger.

Wednesday night's (March 18) episode of "American Idol" featured perhaps the best musical performances of this season. Ke$ha and 3Oh!3 blew everybody away with the spectacle that was "Blah Blah Blah" and David Cook delivered a soul-filled, extra-loud performance of the Rolling Stones' "Jumpin' Jack Flash." But the pleasant surprise of the night came care of Orianthi, the former Michael Jackson guitarist who dropped her latest album Believe and scored a hit with "According to You."
Orianthi represents something of an endangered species in today's rock landscape: A truly badass female guitarist. Wednesday night's performance (along with her greater body of work, especially in "Michael Jackson's This Is It") slides her into the list of the 10 best female guitarists of all time. Who else is on there? Glad you asked.

While Courtney Love continues to struggle with putting out a new album and her sanity, the world has been on the look out for over a decade for a new rock goddess. That title is still up for grabs, but if L.A.-based Nico Vega keeps it up, it won't for long. Like Brody Dalle, who nailed a killer female-fronted album with her new band Spinnerette, Vega stood out last year with their self-titled debut featuring solid vocals, killer hooks, and retro-sexual appeal. Focusing on the latter, if Vega frontwoman Aja Volkman wore shorts any shorter during her tour, you'd have to take a cold shower mid-set. Anyways, I spoke with two of the three "Vegas" (Aja Volkman, guitarist Rich Koehler and drummer Dan Epand) -- already in good with hitmaker Linda Perry -- about commercial success and what's up...

Paramore frontvixen Hayley Williams has got a signature style that is tough and edgy but also just girly enough to remind everybody which chromosomes she carries. With a multitude of kids (and Paramore fans) headed back to school this week, Williams dropped some knowledge via her LiveJournal (how 2003 of her!) about her favorite lines and styles. She cited Dogpile as her favorite line (because it was worn by members of AFI and Brody Dalle). That green vest from the "Ignorance" video? That's from Dogpile, according to Williams. She also gives shout-outs to Katy Perry and Lucille Ball as style inspirations and notes that the dress she wore at last year's MTV Video Music Awards came from this boutique. But right at the end, she raises a glass to Miley Cyrus' Wal-Mart line. "Don't forget about Miley's clothing line in Wal-Mart. Dead. Serious," she wrote. "Good quality tees and tanks ... and if you're brave enough,...

Long-rumored superband Them Crooked Vultures, which personnel include Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, have finally come out, making their debut performance at club Metro in Wrigleyville, Chicago. During the August 9 gig, they performed eleven tracks, one of which was titled "New Fang".
Them Crooked Vultures consist of Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme on guitar and vocals, Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones on bass and Dave on drums. During their intimate concert at Metro, they were supported by Eleven's Alain Johannes who played rhythm guitar.
On why this new band chose to perform in Chicago, Josh told the concertgoers, "We could have done this in L.A." Then, he pantomimed a well-endowed woman performing a rude sexual act which made the crowd cheering wildly. "That's why we came here!" he said. "We came to Chicago because we wanted to play Metro!"

Brody Dalle has said that the upcoming debut album from her new band Spinnerette sounds different from her work with The Distillers. Here’s what Brody Dalle has been up to in the six years since the last album she made with The Distillers: She’s been stockpiling hooks. Teaming up with ex-Pearl Jam/Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons and Alain Johannes (a frequent contributor to Queens Of The Stone Age, the band of Dalle’s husband, Josh Homme), as well as fellow Distiller Tony Bevilacqua, Dalle makes Spinnerette a showcase for her ability to trade styles with equal facility, from clipped, rocking new wave (the uber-catchy “Geeking,” with its throwback double-tracked vocal) to the grungy closer (“A Prescription For Mankind.” which ...
