Luc Besson, the filmmaker behind The Professional, The Fifth Element, Lucy, Transporter, Taken, and mor,e has an awesome looking new web-series coming out called Playground. I've enjoyed most of the films that Besson has developed over the years. He always tends to do cool stuff with badass action and Playground definitely looks like it delivers on that.
Variety describes the series as a "high-voltage" mix of Nikita and Kick-Ass. The story is set in Paris and centers on a teenage girl who joins a school for assassins in an effort to uncover the mystery behind her parent's death.
The series looks like it offers a compelling story mixed with some hardcore brutal action. That action comes from fight choreographer Olivier Schneider, who's known for working on films such as Spectre, Taken, Fast and Furious 6, and more. I'm actually excited about watching this. I love it when a movie subverts your expectations…
Following the traditional slasher movie framework, Night Fare sees two best friends, Luc and Chris, reunited after a year. A year they’ve spent apart for some (mysterious, to be revealed later) reason. With their relationship on a rocky ground, the pair are further strained by their love for the same woman, Ludivine. However those issues are the least of their worries after – whilst on their way to a party – they skip out of a Parisian taxi without paying the fare. Big mistake. This taxi driver doesn’t take to fare dodgers lightly and the mystery motorist hunts the duo down all night long killing everyone that gets in his way.

Usually when I think of French actress and fashion model Laetitia Casta I tend to picture her with a lot less on, but that's just me. Below you can see the new French one-sheet for Julien Lacombe and Pascal Sid's new French 3D horror 'Behind the Walls' (Aka 'Derriere les murs'). And all I can say is that it's a shame that Casta's own derriere has been covered up on this occassion. Those keen horror-spotters out there will be aware that the image used on the poster is of course taken from a still in the movie we posted up back in January. Thierry Neuvic, Roger Dumas, Jacques Bonnaffe, Anne Benoit, Anne Loiret and Emma Ninucci all co-star. Cast your eyes on the new poster below as well as a sneaky peek at the Laetitia we've all come to appreciate immensely....

There’s a new poster out for Julien Lacombe and Pascal Sid’s upcoming French 3D chiller Behind the Walls (aka ‘Derrière les murs‘) but the real find today is an English subbed version of the theatrical trailer. We’ve already gushed profusely before that the film looks amazing, but it’s always handy to know what the hell everyone’s saying. If the subs don’t appear straight away, turn them on by clicking the "Cc" button on the controls under the vid. Behind the Walls English subbed trailer...

The upside: The film looks to be an atmospheric delight. The downside: It’s in 3D. However, since I seriously doubt the film will reach North American shores with its third dimension intact, I don’t think this will be much of a problem. The first full-length trailer for directors Pascal Sid and Julien Lacombe’s moody genre outing “Behind the Walls” is pretty nifty, especially if, like me, you enjoy a little atmosphere with your scares. Unfortunately, the trailer isn’t in English, but that shouldn’t be a problem if you speak French. Which I don’t. Here’s a synopsis to help set the stage: Winter, 1922. Suzanne, a young novelist lacking inspiration decides to isolate herself in the countryside to write her new book. As Suzanne discovers a sealed-up room in the basement of her house, she starts writing oddly easily. Visions and terrifying nightmares soon strike...

And the foreign horror keeps coming on strong with one of the latest entries from France, Behind the Walls (or Derrière les murs), debuting a new trailer. Of course the film will be in 3D, but for now we won't hold that against it.
Behind the Walls, which stars Laetitia Casta and is directed by Pascal Sid and Julien Lacombe, is a 1922-set fantasy thriller about a young novelist. Casta's co-stars include Thierry Neuvic and Roger Dumas.
Synopsis:
Centre of France, 1922. Suzanne, a young novelist lacking inspiration, decides to isolate herself in the countryside to write her new book. As Suzanne discovers a sealed-up room in the basement of her house, she starts writing oddly easily. Visions and nightmares soon strike her while the villagers grow worried as several little girls mysteriously disappear...

A few weeks back the official teaser was released for Pascal Sid and Julien Lacombe's Behind The Walls 3D, which stars Laetitia Casta in a fantasy thriller that takes to the year 1922. Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: I celebrate all levels of trailers and hopefully this column will satisfactorily give you a baseline of what beta wave I’m operating on, because what better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? Some of the best authors will tell you that writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a long one, that you have to weigh every sentence. What better medium to see how this theory plays itself out beyond that than with movie trailers? Becoming Chaz Trailer Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato are the film equivalent of sociological documentarians. If ever there was a duo who have damn well...

An impressive teaser for Julian Lacombe and Pascal Sid’s Behind The Walls (Derriere Les Murs) has just released. The past ten years, French New Wave horror has given us some memorable films such as Them, Martyrs, Inside, And High Tension. Now horror fans can add another French scare flick to their must see list. Unlike the other films aforementioned, Behind The Walls seems to rely more on mood and atmosphere as appose to blood and guts, as you can tell by the extremely creepy clip below. Here is the official synopsis for the film.
Centre of France, 1922. Suzanne , a young novelist lacking inspiration decides to isolate herself in the countryside to write her new book. As Suzanne discovers a sealed-up room in the basement of her house, she starts writing oddly easily. Visions and nightmares soon strike her while the villagers grow worried as several little girls mysteriously disappear.

I’m a big believer in atmosphere. It’s something I feel that’s sorely lacking from most modern-day horror flicks, particularly those filmed here in the United States. Other countries, meanwhile, seem to have atmosphere down to a science. Take, for instance, the trailer for Julian Lacombe and Pascal Sid’s three-dimensional genre outing “Behind the Walls”. The whole clip is damned eerie, though it’s worth mentioning that I do have a soft spot for horror flicks set in creepy old houses. Having just finished the enjoyable if somewhat flawed “The Silent House”, I’m certainly eager for more of the same. Here’s what it’s all about: Centre of France, 1922. Suzanne , a young novelist lacking inspiration decides to isolate herself in the countryside to write her new book. I've been quietly clocking Julian Lacombe and Pascal Sid's supernatural Behind The Walls ("Derriere Les Murs") for a while now, patiently waiting to see footage before posting anything. Well now that day has come, as the filmmakers have finally released a sumptuous first teaser trailer that shows off the film's classic style. Fans of The Others or The Orphanage will eat this up I think.
Behind the walls is also France's first major 3D export which gives it another level of intrigue as I can't think of another haunted house movie recently that was 3D. Was Insidious 3D? I can't remember off the top, but I think it wasn't.

Julien Lacombe and Pascal Sid's Behind the Walls - a title we've kept our eye on since early last year - has yielded a teaser trailer. A horror film in the style of classic literature - which is to say it's infused with the gothic overtones of Poe and similar writers - Julian Lacombe and Pascal Sid's Behind The Walls (Derriere Les Murs) has just released an impressive first teaser.Shot in 3D, the film uses the added dimension less to pop things out of the screen than to sink the viewer into the world of its lead character - a writer drifting through a laudanum induced haze in a creepy old house. Behind the Walls has an important claim to fame: it’s the first ever live-action French movie filmed in 3D. That’s a lot like being the first ever Polish high jumper to clear 10 feet on a sunny day when the wind was blowing easterly, but it’s a claim to fame nonetheless. Perhaps this new concept art (especially the giant rat) will help that fame along. Of course, having international super model Laetitia Casta doesn’t hurt either. The film focuses on a woman who sequesters herself in order to write a novel who finds a sealed room in the house and begins having nightmarish hallucinations. Basically, it’s the plot from I Spit on Your Grave without the rape. Check out the beautiful concept art for yourself: So there’s a live shot of Laetitia Casta in there, too. Hopefully that doesn’t ruin your day. This will mark the first feature from the directing...

France is well into the process of producing its first ever theatrical movie in 3D and being French its no surprise it’ll be nothing as gauche as a CGI action fest, or a blue skinned aliens for them, instead we have the dark supernatural thriller Derrière les murs (aka ‘Behind The Walls’) - starring Laetitia Casta, Thierry Neuvic and Roger Dumas - to look forward too, from directors Julien Lacombe and Pascal Sid. The movie is still well into post production, so not much to see as yet, but one nugget we’ve found is a first picture from the film. Not a lot to go on granted, but we’re getting a vibe very similar to Alejandro Amenábar’s superb haunted house frightener ‘The Others’ off of this – which is no bad thing if true. Behind The Walls is due to open in France in late spring and...

You know if we had a nickel for every movie that revolved around a writer who heads out to some secluded place to write a book and ends up encountering spooky shit while trying to get their work done, we would be pretty damned well off right now. Here is another one for the fire.
Below you'll find the early sales art for a new 3D (it has to be 3D does it not?) horror chiller known as Behind the Walls 3D. Directed by Pascal Sid and Julien Lacombe, the flick stars Laetitia Casta in a 1922-set fantasy thriller that turns on a young novelist who moves to a creepy village to write a book and falls victim to terrifying hallucinations and nightmares.
Been there. Done that. But damn it we'll do it again. Look for more on this one as soon as we get it.

The stunning-honey French fashion model and actress Laetitia Casta (below) has wrapped her performance in the latest French mystery thriller 'Behind the Walls'. The Julien Lacombe and Pascal Sid helmed (and written) project, which will arrive in 3D, has revealed very 'run-of-the-mill' looking teaser art at this year's American Film Market event. Casta is joined by fellow cast members Thierry Neuvic, Roger Dumas, Jacques Bonnaffe, Anne Benoit, Anne Loiret and Emma Ninucci. You can check out the new art below. 'A period piece set against the backdrop of France in 1922, Casta plays Suzanne, a young novelist lacking inspiration decides to isolate herself in the countryside to write her new book. As Suzanne discovers a sealed-up room in the basement of her house, she starts writing odd prose. Visions and nightmares soon strike her while the villagers grow worried as several little girls mysteriously disappear.'...

Well I guess making a 3D film isn’t as hard as some may think.
According to Variety (via The Playlist), the directing duo of Pascal Sid and Julien Lacombe are looking to make their feature film debut with a film called Behind The Walls. While that in and of itself should not be shocking, or that it will star model turned actress Laetitia Casta, it’s what the film is going to try to do that will shock some.

Model/actress Laetitia Casta ("Luisa Sanfelice," "Asterix & Obelix vs. Caesar") will star in the upcoming French 3D fantasy/suspense film "Behind The Walls" reports Variety.
Set in 1922, the very Victorian Gothic-sounding story centers on a young novelist who moves to a creepy small village to write a book and falls victim to terrifying hallucinations and nightmares.
Pascal Sid and Julien Lacombe will direct the $5 million budget feature which will be shot in stereoscopic 3D and is scheduled for release early next year. Pre-production sketches from the project can be found at FilmsActu.
Casta recently scored raves for her portrayal of Brigitte Bardot in Joann Sfar's Serge Gainsbourg biopic which opened in France back in January.

Period pieces when done right can offer a lot of bang for the viewer's buck in terms of setting the tone, but how about a period piece starring a French super-model turned actor in 3D? Bang for your buck or bang from the muzzle of the gun you had placed at your temple?
Accodring to Variety Laetitia Casta (Gainsbourg) will topline the low-budget suspense thriller Behind the Walls in 3D.
