After unceremoniously pulling “Taskmaster” from it schedule after only a single episode, the CW has found a new home for the U.K. acquisition.
Variety has learned that the full 10 episodes (series 8 in the U.K.) of “Taskmaster” which the CW acquired will now be available to stream for free on its CW Seed streaming service.
The move comes less than a week after “Taskmaster” was dumped from the network’s Sunday schedule due terrible debut ratings.
Hosted by comedian Greg Davies and creator Alex Horne (who act as the titular taskmaster and the taskmaster’s assistant respectively), the show debuted to a 0.1 rating among adults 18-49 and only 212,000 viewers. While a 0.1 isn’t necessarily a disastrous number in comparison with CW’s other summer fare, that total viewership figure is one of the lowest CW has managed in what is a cold summer for broadcast TV ratings overall.
Despite its inauspicious U.

Take heart, Taskmaster fans. The British game show that was recently pulled from The CW’s schedule after one airing has moved to CWSeed. The entire 10-episode season is now available to binge on the network’s free ad-supported digital network.
Taskmaster is an International Emmy and triple BAFTA nominated comedy game show, which just won the 2020 BAFTA award for best comedy entertainment program. It stars comedian and actor Greg Davies in the title role of the all-powerful Taskmaster, who issues simple comedic and bizarre tasks to five regular contestants – usually comedians – with Alex Horne (the show creator) acting as the Taskmaster’s assistant. The tasks – usually performed in isolation, but occasionally in teams – are designed to encourage the players to think laterally and creatively.
The show got off to a slow start on The CW. In its premiere episode, Taskmaster averaged a 0.1 adults 18-49 and drew 432,000 and 224,000 viewers, respectively,...

Peaky Blinders won best drama at tonight’s BAFTA TV Awards beating The Crown in a surprise move. While Vanessa Kirby, who played Princess Margaret in the first two seasons of Netflix’s royal drama, won best supporting actress, it was another disappointing night for Left Bank and the gang.
Kirby said Claire Foy, who was beaten to best actress by Three Girls’ Molly Windsor in another massive upset, was the “best sister I’ve ever had apart from my actual sister”. But it didn’t stop the surprise after Foy, who was at the center of a pay controversy earlier this year, will go empty handed in terms of UK awards for her star turn in The Crown.
It was largely a night for domestic successes rather than awards for the slew of international co-productions and British-made Svod series that were nominated.

‘The Crown’ Battles It Out With ‘Black Mirror’ & ‘Line Of Duty’ As BAFTA TV Nominations Are Unveiled
Netflix drama The Crown is once again set to duke it out to win at the BAFTA TV Awards after being nominated in three key categories alongside Charlie Brooker’s dystopian anthology series Black Mirror, Thandie Newton-fronted cop drama Line of Duty and domestic British series Three Girls.
The period series was shut out at last year’s event despite picking up five nominations and has once again been nominated in the best drama category, while Claire Foy will go up against Hollywood star Thandie Newton for best actress. Given Foy’s performance over the two seasons, and the recent controversy over her salary, she is the hot favorite to pick up a gong as she exits the Left Bank drama. Comedy Central’s latest development slate is diverse in more ways than one.
Not only has the cable network put together several new series with performers of color at the center, but the three shows picked up Tuesday by Comedy Central are all very different.
Ordered to series are the stand-up/musical show “The New Negroes,” the comedy game show “Taskmaster” and the scripted comedy “Corporate.” In development are shows from creators including Awkwafina, Neal Brennan, Arturo Castro, Franchesca Ramsey, Noël Wells and Flint Wainess, among others.
“The network when I got here was pretty traditionally targeted toward young white guys, both in terms of who the audience was and who was creating the shows for the audience,” said Comedy Central president Kent Alterman. “We started changing that a few years ago by expanding that into having funny women on the network, with Amy Schumer and Broad City and a lot more since.

The Great British Bake Off
Hosts: Mel Geidroyc and Sue Perkins
Judges: Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood
Directed by Andy Devonshire
Airs on BBC1 in the UK at 8 pm GMT on Wednesdays
It is a show that has sparked a number of copycats around the world, not to mention other reality contest shows in the UK. However, due to its simple premise, funny hosts, great judges and the odd sexual innuendo, it is now one of the most popular TV shows on UK television. In the four years that it has been on the air, what is so appealing about The Great British Bake Off? Before the programme began airing, baking was considered an old-fashioned hobby that was more commonly shared and perfected by older generations of women. From personal experience, baking was a part of ‘food economics’ lessons in school, and even then, the dishes were relatively simple, due to the constrained lesson times.
