The writer’s other work includes horror story “Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit, which landed at Paramount, 3Arts and Atomic Monster, with Melanie Toast attached to adapt.
“We’re drawn to stories that center on very real, emotionally messy people, often blurring genre boundaries,” Baggott said. “But the mission is simple. We create high-concept stories, intimately told.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been highlighting some of the newer publishers, including Vault Comics, AfterShock Comics, and It’s Alive! Press.
This week I’m covering Scout Comics and Ben Kahn. Ben had self-published a comic titled Heavenly Blues which I had picked up a while back at Carmine Street Comics here in Manhattan. Since then, Scout Comics has picked up the series. I got the chance to talk with Ben about his comics career and having Heavenly Blues added to Scout Comics growing roster.
Jc: Thank you for taking the time to chat with me about your new series at Scout Comics, Heavenly Blues! Before we get started, you’re a fairly new face to comics, at least in terms of being Diamond distributed. Can you tell us a bit about your writing career leading up to this?

Exactly seven years ago, NYC auxiliary police officer Nicholas Pekearo and his partner, Yevgeniy Marshalik, were shot and killed in the line of duty. At the time Pekearo was just getting his footing as a novelist, and now his posthumously published The Wolfman is heading to the big screen.
Per Deadline, Macmillan Entertainment and Everest Entertainment Group are developing a feature film from The Wolfman, a novel written by Nicholas Pekearo in 2008 and published by Tor Books in 2009.
The story tells of a lost soul who happens to be a werewolf. He struggles with his affliction until he decides to focus on the bad guys who deserve it, including a serial killer preying on young girls.
Pekearo, a crime and comic book buff, was shot six times by the crazed gunman who also killed his partner. Both were unarmed. For more info on what transpired, check out this story in...

Between the time Thomas Dunne published horror author Weston Ochse's first book in the Seal Team 666 series around Thanksgiving of 2012 and the 2nd book, Age of Blood, around Halloween of 2013 an amazing thing happened, Hollywood came knocking. Weston took a few minutes out of his busy signing schedule to talk to us about it.
Where did Seal Team 666 come from?
Myself, Peter Straub, Jack Ketchum and a whole bunch of other folks were at a Dead Dog party at World Horror Convention is Austin. We were getting pretty hammered when one of the guys came running in and said "Turn on the TV!" We turned on the TV and President Obama was on announcing the take down and killing of Osama Bin Laden. It was ridiculous how cheerful and happy we felt about the death of this guy. Because he was the cause of so many deaths of Americans and so much anger.

Dwayne Johnson is heading to the Navy Seal. The actor has landed the starring role in MGM’s action movie Seal Team 666, which is based on a book by Weston Ochse.
Besides starring, Johnson will also serve as executive producer, along with Dany Garcia, and Brendan Deneen and Peter Joseph of Macmillan films. The script was written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, who also penned Hercules, which coincidentally also stars Johnson. There’s no word on who’ll direct yet.
Ochse’s book follows Cadet Jack Walker, who, halfway through his Seal training, is whisked away to join four SEALs—and their dog—for a special ops mission. Walker soon finds himself in a whirlwind of otherworldly creatures and events as he finds out the true nature of this “special ops” team: Seal Team 666. Global superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to lace up his ass-kicking boots once more as THR is reporting that the in-demand thespian has signed on to headline MGM’s Seal Team 666.
Johnson (who has become the go-to guy that Hollywood enlists to resuscitate near-dead franchises, e.g. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Fast Five and G.I. Joe: Retaliation), has just wrapped the Brett Ratner-directed Hercules: The Thracian Wars for Paramount/MGM, and looks to remain busy as he attaches himself to this upcoming project.
Based upon the popular book by Weston Ochse, Seal Team 666 follows “a group of highly-trained Seal operatives who specialize in the elimination of demons and other supernatural forces.” Considering the fact that Johnson has a storied history when it comes to portraying military-based characters (Doom, the aforementioned G.I. Joe), this project seems custom-made for The Rock, and should have no problem becoming a lucrative franchise for MGM.

While I keep waiting for the wheels to fall off of the Charlie Sheen Crazy Train, the former Two and A Half Men star is encroaching on terrain reserved for Jane Austen and others who've had their works satirically updated with supernatural creatures in books like Pride And Prejudice And Zombies. Book editor Brendan Deneen has teamed with Can You Survive The Zombie Apocalypse? author Max Brallier to write Vatican Assassin Warlock. They are calling it a "dark satirical fantasy novella," with a lead character named Charlie who has been built right out of Sheen's own rantings. The novella will be published as a 99 cent title this month through Deneen's Ardden Entertainment, which until now has only published comics.
