Kerry Stokes – Australian of the Year finalist
Commonwealth Bank has produced a series of short documentaries on eight of the 2013 Australian of the Year finalists. The Can Stories campaign is part of the financial institution’s sponsorship of the Australian of the Year Awards.
The campaign’s creative has been executed by Imagination with media by Ikon and Spring.
The three-minute videos include media personalities Ita Buttrose and Kerry Stokes.

The films will be screened on Ten and its digital channel One HD on Australia Day and Foxtel’s Bio channel throughout the last week of January.
The videos have been published on YouTube and run within at tab of Commbank’s Facebook page, which is also redirected from address www.canstories.com.au from today until Thursday 31 January. Users must first like the Commbank’s Facebook page.

Host Sydney has completed its first work for Berlei lingerie after winning the account in November.
The Bounce campaign was completed with Host’s creative partner Parlour and sees two women bouncing on yoga balls in sports bras.
The aim of the campaign for the Pacific Brands-owned Berlei is to illustrate the support given, and importance of wearing a sports bra when exercising.
Host Suzie Shaw, managing director of Host said: “It’s a new, fresh and fun campaign for Berlei and has been a great way to start the new working relationship between Host and Pacific Brands.”
Emily Small, marketing manager of Berlei, said: “We wanted to talk to women at a time of year when getting fit and healthy is most relevant to them. We all make New Year’s resolutions to look after our bodies and a Berlei sports bra is crucial to protecting even smaller breasts when exercising.

Screen Australia has chipped in $200,000 to lift this year.s Hive Production Fund to $800,000.
The funding announcement - which adds to equal installments by the Adelaide Film Festival, the Australia Council for the Arts, and ABC Television - was made last night by South Australian Minister for the Arts, John Hill, at the Melbourne Festival. Screen Australia previously supported the initiaitive through development funding for script workshops.
The Hive Production Fund was inspired by the Hive Lab, which brings filmmakers and artists together in a creative environment. The artists at this year.s lab include Bill Henson, Dr Brenda Croft, Eddie Perfect, Sam Haren, Daniel Koerner, Rachael Swain, Cat Jones, Lally Katz and Sean Riley; filmmakers Samantha Lang, Sophie Raymond, Sascha Ettinger Epstein, Paola Morabito, Nassiem Valamanesh, Eddie White, Natasha Pincus and Lucinda Clutterbuck; and artist and filmmaker John Gillies.

The Hive Lab has announced its film-makers to collaborate with artists, theatre actors, choreographers, animators and writers over 11-14 October. Only one Australian feature film has so far made it into official selection for the 69th Venice International Film Festival.
Disaster-shark film Bait 3D, directed by Kimble Rendall, will screen out of competition at the prestigious film festival, it was announced overnight.
The film sees a group of shoppers trapped in an underground supermarket after a tsunami strikes the coast which has sent a school of sharks into the building.
The film, produced by Arclight Films, was shot on the Gold Coast at Village Roadshow Studios in 2010. It stars Xavier Samuel, Julian McMahon, Sharni Vinson and Dan Wylie. It will be distributed in the Us by Anchor Bay Films.
The Out of Competition section is billed as ‘important works by directors already established in previous editions of the festival.’

Screen Australia has announced a round of investment, with $2m for nine documentaries, with production valued at $12m.
“Among the domestic projects, the critically acclaimed Anatomy series will continue to deliver visually inventive arts documentaries, while Running to America promises a feel-good story from the Top End. The seven international projects will further extend our uniquely Australian stories and voices on the world stage,” said CEO Ruth Harley.

Film Victoria has invested $450,000 in the second series of the ABC comedy Lowdown, a third series of Anatomy, and the documentary feature Gnarly – The Ben Pappas Story.
