It’s been five years since the latest season of “Arrested Development.” That means it’s been roughly 1,829 straight days of “Getaway” resting comfortably in the subconscious of the show’s fans.
As composer and songwriter David Schwartz told IndieWire, he’s well aware that some of his music might just be lodged in your brain right now.
“It gets stuck in there. A lot of people get angry at me about that, an ‘I have your music stuck in my head’ kind of comment. They’re not really angry, but I hear that a lot in the ‘Arrested’ offices, which is nice,” Schwartz said. “Somehow I guess I’m more successful at clearing it out than not. It’s sort of requirement to start the next piece. And there’s always another piece to write, you know?”
Though Schwartz’s contributions are heard but rarely seen, it’s impossible...

A brand new music festival is slated to hit the market in 2016, and this one will celebrate Jamaica’s often overlooked role in electronic music. Paradise Lost will be organized by Caribbean Trans Media ltd. and will take place from March 10th-12th of next year.
In fact, the roots of both modern dance music and hip-hop extend all the way back to open-format DJ’ing and remixing culture. Jamaican artists like King Tubby and King Jammys played an undeniable role in this musical era, and contributed in a more long-term way as dub and reggae would bleed into several generations of the movement across numerous regions.
One of the organizers, Jason Newman, told The Gleaner:
“Some Jamaicans don’t know that the genre started here, and some of the foreign markets don’t know either. This is going to educate them to learn about Jamaica and appreciate our music all over again.

Exclusive: Paramount Pictures has acquired a spec package with Captain America star Anthony Mackie, Dear White People helmer Justin Simien and the 2013 Black List comedy script Make A Wish at its center. The studio has acquired the script by first-timer Zach Frankel as a star vehicle for Mackie, directed by Simien, whose Sundance prize-winning film got Independent Spirit and Gotham Award nominations for Best Director. Robert Teitel and Jason Spire will produce it and Mackie will be executive producer along with Jason Newman and Jason Weinberg.
Mackie will play Butchie Jones, a football star who wants to grant the final wish of a dying 14-year-old who adores the gridironer. It’s not an easy wish, though; the kid wants the football star to help him score before he died. And I don’t mean carry the pigskin into the end zone. Mackie certainly has worked his way to the top...

The week included shows in Mexico City, Toronto, Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, London and New York City. Mayday! It's chaos on Rihanna's VIP plane! Rihanna's 777 Tour, which kicked off Wednesday, took journalists and fans on a seven-day, seven-country tour in celebration of the release of her new album Unapologetic (out Nov. 19) - all on board a tricked-out Boeing 777. But the sky-high adventure has taken a slight nosedive, with passengers getting cranky - and a little crazy - according to various online reports and Tweets from passengers aboard the plane. The 250 guests, including reporters from MTV, Fuse and VH1, have been keeping fans on the ground posted, and Rolling Stone's Jeff Rosenthal is one of many keeping a diary of his experiences.

As Rihanna's 777 Tour nears the end of its worldwide, weeklong journey, the attention has shifted from the 24-year-old singer and has refocused on the 200 journalists she has traveling with her. Apparently Rihanna is not giving them the attention they think they're due, and the tour is being wracked with delays. Add that to the fact the reporters who have come along for the tour are being fed with plane snacks, filled with alcohol and getting barely any sleep on the overnight flights between cities RiRi is performing in and you have a recipe for disaster.
Those issues seemingly culminated on the flight between Berlin and London, as Australian radio presented Tim Dormer stripped down to nothing and streaked around the plane. FM104 host Sean Munsanje posted the above video blog where he said that the journalists have now become the tour's story, as Rihanna's visits to them have become less and less frequent.

There's a lot of buzz about the script reading for the raucously funny The Hand Job on Sunday at the Rollins Theatre with Bill Hader, Colin Hanks, Jessica Alba and others. But earlier during the conference, Aff held another, quieter script reading on Friday in the stuffy little Maxmillian Room at the Driskill. What for? By Way of Helena, a twisty western revenge thriller as yet to be produced.
Earlier in the day, screenwriter Matt Cook participated in the Black List panel, as his screenplay for By Way of Helena was voted one of the best unproduced screenplays of 2009 on The Black List. Immediately following, Black List founder Franklin Leonard introduced Cook for a reading of his script. Helping Cook was an eclectic mix of well known and lesser known actors. The entire lineup at the front of the room, in order, was Cook, Jason Newman (Silas, Clem), Lauren Wolf (Maria), Richard Dillard (Saul,...

Over at Moviefone's Inside Movies blog, a lively discussion is going on about animated family films. Jason Newman is concerned that many recent movies like Wall-e, Battle for Terra and the upcoming Astro Boy may be presenting young audiences with a hidden left-wing agenda.
I've watched a fair number of children's films for someone who has no kids of her own, and I'm not seeing the "blatant socialist themes" to the extent Newman is. For one thing, I disagree about Wall-e. Saying that Wall-e promotes liberalism is insulting to conservatives, as though they are the equivalent of the slothful humans on the spacecraft. "Don't be wasteful" isn't a liberal agenda, it's something most parents try to teach their kids. Astro Boy won't be in theaters until Oct. 23, so I can't say if it really contains "Marxist" themes and story elements. However, Newman says these story elements are played for laughs,...
