- Made major league debut on 16 April 1940.
- In the eulogy at his brother's funeral, he stated Joe had everything "except the right woman to share his life with", a remark seen by many as proof the DiMaggio family disapproved of Joe's second wife, Marilyn Monroe.

- Father of Dominic DiMaggio Jr. of Atkinson, New Hampshire; Peter DiMaggio of Westford, Massachusetts; and Emily DiMaggio of Wayland, Massachusetts. He is survived by six grandchildren.
