Paul started his musical training at an early age, playing the piano as
a child and touring the world as a chorister, in Worcester Cathedral
Choir. He achieved Grade 8 in the piano with distinction at the tender
age of 11, quickly followed by further '8s' in Organ, Clarinet and
Singing. He went on to create his first theatrical score for a
production of Henri Gheon's "The Way Of The Cross".
After studying with the Elgar specialist Dr Donald Hunt OBE, Dr Wyndham Thomas at Bristol University, and Prof. Stephen Deutsch at Bournemouth, Paul obtained an MA in Music and moved to London to start writing and producing music professionally.
He quickly established himself as a versatile producer/composer, working with most of the major and large independent record labels on acts as diverse as Whitney Houston, Vanessa Mae and Tim Deluxe. Paul has produced full length album projects for a number of artists.
Paul is an accomplished writer of music to picture. He recently delivered the score to the multiple award winning independent movie 'Missed Connections', and is working on two further features in 2012: he also scored the BAFTA 'Best Drama Series' winning BBC Drama production 'The Fades' (a co-production with BBC America), which also won the 2012 BANFF Rockie award for Best Youth Fiction, 'Ways To Save The Planet' - the Impossible Pictures production for Discovery Networks, and the RDF documentary for Channel 4 'The Genius Of Charles Darwin'. Other work includes ITV's game show featuring Chris Tarrant - 'Its Not What You Know' and six series of the ITV drama 'Where The Heart Is', along with other shows including 'A&E' (ITV).
His music is in huge demand for many of the top rating shows including 'Britain's Got Talent', 'Kardashians', 'Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong', 'The Apprentice/Celebrity Apprentice' (advertising task composer), 'Snoop Dogg's Father Hood', 'America's Got Talent' and many more. He composed and produced a number of albums worth of material for Hans Zimmer's 'Directors Cuts' collaboration with Extreme Music and Sony ATV and has also written albums for Boosey and Hawkes Production Music.
In the games field Paul has worked extensively with Media Molecule and Sony CE in Europe and the USA as lead composer on 'Little Big Planet 2' (scoring all cinematics and a number of adaptive music tracks), 'Little Big Planet Vita', 'Little Big Planet Karting', and also as sole composer on several DLCs for the platform including 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'Marvel'.
He has also co-produced an ambitious, exclusive and private sample library recorded at Air Lyndhurst Studios in London and shared by the world's most successful film composers. The first use of these sounds was in Harry Gregson-Williams' score for the Narnia 'Prince Caspian' movie, but they have been used in James Cameron's 'Avatar' franchise, 'Iron Man 2', 'Ice Age 3', and many many more major film projects.
A keen music technologist, Paul enjoys creating varied new instruments and sounds for his scores, an approach which helps set him apart from many of his contemporaries.
