BBC Making Sarah Everard Documentary
The BBC is making a documentary about the investigation into the tragic murder of Sarah Everard, which led to a major reckoning over misogyny and bad behavior in London’s Metropolitan police force. Sarah Everard: The Search For Justice looks into Everard’s murder, how the devastating crime unfolded and its impact. Everard was killed by a serving police officer, Wayne Couzens, who abducted her as she walked home in March 2021, and this became a watershed moment for the nation. There were mass protests against male violence towards women and the narrative of ‘one bad apple’ in the police force was destroyed. The force was placed in special measures and a major review of the Met Police found a culture of denial, widespread bullying, discrimination, institutional homophobia, misogyny and racism. BBC Studios is behind the single doc, which is being EP-d by Emily Lawson and Kirsty Cunningham.

Mo Farah is one of the U.K.’s greatest athletes, having won 10 gold medals — four at the Olympics and six at the World Championships — in long-distance running. He has been knighted by the Queen and won countless awards, including BBC Sports’ Personality of the Year.
But now, the sporting superstar has rocked the country once again with a new documentary, “The Real Mo Farah,” which airs Wednesday (July 13) on BBC One.
In the documentary, he reveals his real name is not, in fact, Mohamed Farah, but rather Hussein Abdi Kahin. As a 9-year-old, he was trafficked to the U.K. from Somaliland via a false passport and forced to work in domestic servitude for the Somali strangers who brought him there.
By the time Farah finally escaped it didn’t occur to anyone to call him by his birth name. As he details in the documentary, when he eventually...

Britney Spears’ conservatorship battle and Netflix “Tiger King” sensation Joe Exotic are the subjects of two contrasting documentaries commissioned by U.K. broadcaster BBC Two.
In “Britney” (working title), BAFTA-winning journalist Mobeen Azhar seeks to uncover the truth behind the conservatorship that pop icon Britney Spears has been held under for the last 13 years. I found myself in a world of lawyers, superfans and paparazzi and spent time with many of the people who’ve had a front row seat in Britney’s life. This film taps into the energy of...

Louis Theroux is to reflect on his 25-year body of work in a four-part BBC Two series, which represents the first television commission for his company Mindhouse Productions.
Louis Theroux: Life On The Edge (working title) will feature interviews with Theroux and conversations between the filmmaker and some of his most notable contributors.
Theroux said: “For years I’ve wanted to go back and make sense of the programmes I’ve made, find out what happened to some of the contributors, update their stories, and see what all these many hours of making TV might add up to. Lockdown gave me the time and space to do this.
“It’s been a strange and fascinating couple of months working on this, and especially fun to dig through old episodes of Weird Weekends – programmes I made in the mid-nineties, when the world was a very different place. I’m really proud...
