Best remembered for portraying Svengoolie on "Screaming Yellow
Theater," which aired in Chicago from 1970 to 1973. He then moved to
San Diego in 1978 to become the host of "Sun Up San Diego." In his 13
years as host, he won 3 emmy awards. Along with his busy schedule,
owned 2 Chicago themed restaurants, Greek Islands Cafe and Asaggio
Pizza. He died of a heart attack at a local San Diego hospital.
Inducted into the Horror Host Hall of Fame in 2011, as his character Svengoolie.
In 1969, Jerry G. Bishop became a staff announcer and the host of an afternoon local version of the movie/call-in contest show Dialing For Dollars on WFLD-TV.
