Slim, graceful and lovely blonde dancer Gayle Crofoot was born in
California. She was inspired by her two older brothers to pursue a
dancing career: Her brother Leonard played the role of Tom Thumb in a
national company stage production of "Barnum" and her other brother Ron
choreographed a London stage production of "Hello Dolly" starring Carol
Channing. Gayle was featured as a dancer in Liza Minelli's 1977 stage
show "The Act." Crofoot first appeared as a dancer in the two hour
January, 1980 pilot for the hugely popular and successful music variety
TV series "Solid Gold." Gayle later joined the cast of "Solid Gold" as
a replacement for Lucinda Dickey in 1982 and remained on the show the
until the end of the 1985 season. Her other dancing credits include
guest appearances as a dancer on episodes of the television sitcoms
"Alice" and "Benson," several Doug Hennings TV specials, and the 1983
Jerry Lewis Telethon. Moreover, Crofoot was also featured in the 1984
exercise video "The Solid Gold 5 Day Workout." Alas, Gayle suffered an
unfortunate back injury in the mid 80s which put a permanent early end
to her dancing career. She has since gone on to work in the cosmetics
industry.
