Right after ‘why two pairs of shoes but only one pair of trousers?’ the question on everybody’s lips after Doctor Who’s surprise bi-generation was: if David’s Tennant’s new Doctor is still around during Ncuti Gatwa’s era, does that make this a job share? Will Fourteen be popping in to audience applause every other episode like a wacky neighbour on a 1970s sitcom?
According to David Tennant, speaking to Radio Times Magazine ahead of his Bafta-hosting gig, the answer’s no. “The door is not any more open than it ever was,” Tennant told the mag, as reported by RadioTimes.com. “It’s very much the end of the story.”
“The Doctor’s happy. He is in a garden in Chiswick, being made mac and cheese by Bonnie Langford!”
What sweeter fate could befall any man?
For anybody who was second-screening 60th anniversary special “The Giggle...

This Doctor Who article contains spoilers.
“He’s saying you need to stop,” companion Donna Noble tells the Fourteenth Doctor after the Fifteenth Doctor lists off a litany of adventures from the first Doctor on. A pained expression covers Fourteen as he admits, “I don’t know how.”
That confession rings true for viewers, and not just because it comes from David Tennant, who is both a great actor and a frequent returnee to Doctor Who, most recently for the three 60th Anniversary Specials. And it’s not just because we know the Doctor as a person on the move. Ever since the character’s introduction in 1963, the Doctor has been defined by restlessness. Even when grounded on Earth, as was the case for the Third Doctor, or stuck defending a base under siege, the Doctor does not sit still. They search for answers, save the day, and then off...

The Fifteenth Doctor’s adventures are officially beginning, and Ncuti Gatwa has already shown, just in the last part of the third Doctor Who 60th anniversary special, that he is absolutely fantastic in the role. The sci-fi series threw fans for a loop when, in “The Giggle,” Rather than the typical regeneration after The Toymaker (Neil Patrick Harris) delivered a fatal blow with a Galvanic beam, The Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) bigenerated and the Fifteenth split off from him. That twist “is just so exciting, to know that Russell [T Davies] is changing things up because that’s the nature of the show,” Gatwa tells TV Insider. “The show is about change, embracing the new.” That “little taste of Fifteen” that ended with him flying off in the Tardis before the Christmas special included Gatwa’s Doctor pointing out he’s fine because Fourteen healed himself. And now, as seen in the...

This post contains spoilers for the "Doctor Who" 60th Anniversary Special "The Giggle."
When the news broke that Russell T. Davies would be returning to "Doctor Who" for the first time in more than a decade, there was a lot to be excited for and a lot be worried about. Davies had a great original run, arguably the best of the three modern showrunners, but his plot resolutions often left a bit to be desired. He had a tendency to throw all logic and continuity out the window for the sake of a happy ending, like in the "Doctor Who" season 4 finale where the Doctor managed to withhold his regeneration by basically transferring his regenerative energy into a severed hand of his, creating a clone of himself.
This all served the purpose of giving former companion Rose a happy ending. She got to live with the clone Doctor in her own alternate universe,...
