The infamous Sega interactive movie video game, Night Trap, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this August with a re-release! With the industry's current trend of re-releasing video games, why is Night Trap receiving this same treatment? And what does this re-released version of a game made in the early 90s have to offer gamers in 2017? Stop in and find out, right here!
What you may or may not know about Night Trap is just how influential the title was, and still is, in the game industry. Originally released in August of 1992, Night Trap quickly gained a following, selling close to 1 million copies. However, what sparked this following wasn't the game or its marketing, but rather a 1993 U.S Senate hearing involving violence in video games.
Night Trap was unfairly pinned as "ultraviolent, sick, and disgusting" by former Senator Joseph Lieberman, who also incorrectly claimed that the game's main objective was...

Russell Crowe is set to star in the epic drama "In Sand and Blood" for Im Global.
Ronan Bennett wrote the script which is apparently based on Dean King's nonfiction book "Skeletons on the Zahara: A True Story of Survival." That story follows Captain James Riley, the captain of an American ship which was wrecked on the Western Sahara coast in 1815.
The few survivors were captured and sold into slavery for various owners until Riley convinced an Arab trader he would receive a far greater ransom from a European consul in a Moroccan port a thousand miles to the north - beginning a trek across the scorching desert.
It is unclear if Crowe will direct the project and reps have reportedly dodged multiple inquiries about the film. Luc Roeg will produce the film which Crowe teased in a tweet last week:

Variety reports that Russell Crowe is set to star in the historical drama In Sand and Blood. The movie, backed by Im Global, takes place in 19th century Africa and echoes historian Dean King's Skeletons on the Zahara: A True Story of Survival. King's work seemingly retells the true story of Captain James Riley, who penned a memoir in the early 1800s after he and his crew — who'd been shipwrecked off the coast of the western Sahara — were captured and enslaved, and then ultimately resold to (read: saved by) Europeans. Ronan Bennett reportedly is writing the script and Luc Roeg is producing; other personnel and logistical details are unavailable at the moment. But ever the worker, Crowe's already getting into the role: Hopefully, he'll produce a new one of these.

Stories of survival against great odds are big at the moment – look at Unbroken or this week’s The Martian. Russell Crowe is attached to a new film that hews more towards the former, a true tale of shipwreck, slavery and smart thinking called In Sand And Blood.Ronan Bennett has written the script, which follows the story of the ill-fated crew of an American ship in 185. Wrecked on the coast of the Western Sahara, the starving, dehydrated men were captured, beaten and slaved by locals, kept alive with camel blood and urine. Five died, and the rest were sold on to a succession of tribesmen, who bartered their lives for sometimes as little as a blanket. But when Captain James Riley (Crowe, assuming he’s made a deal) is sold to an Arab Trader named Sidi Hamet, the sailor somehow convinced him that he would sell for a better...

It’s been revealed today that Academy Award winning actor Russell Crowe (Man of Steel) is going to star in the upcoming film In Sand and Blood, Im Global’s upcoming “epic drama” which is set to revolve around white slavery.
The project appears to still be in the very early stages of development, as it’s currently unknown whether or not Crowe will also direct (he recently made his directorial debut with The Water Diviner). However, we do know that the script is being written by Ronan Bennett (Public Enemies) and may be based on Dean King’s book Skeletons on the Zahara: A True Story of Survival.
Here’s the official synopsis for In Sand and Blood, including details on who Crowe will be playing:
In 1815, an American brig, the Commerce, was wrecked on the desolate coast fringing the Western Sahara. Starving and dying of thirst, its 12 man crew were captured,...

The cult Sega Mega CD title, Night Trap, could return, according to the game's creator...
News
Night Trap was one of the most controversial titles released for the Sega Mega CD/Sega CD (also released on PC and 3Do), mainly due to the inclusion of scantily-clad girls and sex at a sleepover invaded by strange kidnappers. Actually, in truth, there are more offensive episodes of Sesame Street, the game has no sex or nudity, and intentionally buffoonish, comedy enemies, but there you go. Who said people need real research of actual hand-so on experience to condemn something?
The game was arguably the most popular Fmv tile on the platform, mainly due to the controversy, and although actual gameplay was minimal, it quickly gained a loyal following, which endures to this day. In fact, this fan base is strong enough that the game's co-creator, James Riley, has revealed that it may return.

The 2013 Major League Soccer Season began last weekend, with Los Angeles Galaxy picking up where they left off in December.
A first career hat-trick from Mike Magee was added to by Robbie Keane as the Mls Champions cruised to a 4-0 victory over Chicago Fire. Former Chelsea and Tottenham goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini made a shaky start to his league debut, almost gifting Chicago an easy goal when he failed to clear the ball properly early in the match. After that it was all Galaxy, with Magee netting his first half opener thanks to a slight deflection that took it away from goalkeeper Sean Johnson. His second was a curled effort from the edge of the box; his third a brilliant volley amid chaos following a long throw into the penalty area. Keane scored a late fourth when Omar Gonzalez nodded Michael Stephens’ cross down for him to poke home at the near post.

Comedian-turned-unfortunate-loudmouth Victoria Jackson made some extremely controversial comments following the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Ct last week, though they're not surprising to anyone familiar with her politics. (She said she was disgusted with Christians after Barack Obama won the election, and that America died. She's also said that rape pregnancies are a blessing.)
On her Facebook, the Tea Party member wrote: "My friend Jim Riley posted: 'Wasn't the Connecticut killer just doing what abortionists do every day? It's a wonder we don't have more 20 year old "dads" doing what women and doctors have been an accomplice to for years in America. When you forget the Ten Commandments, people, This is what you get.'"
Commenters quickly took her to task, outraged at her suggestion that the suffering families in Newtown somehow deserved their pain. Jackson, however, remains unapologetic.
"I don't regret anything I have said," she tells Huffington Post.

Victoria Jackson is under fire (again). The former Saturday Night Live player turned ultra-conservative blogger is taking the heat after comparing the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter in Newtown, Conn., to abortionists. So, what exactly did she have to say? "My friend Jim Riley posted: 'Wasn't the Connecticut killer just doing what abortionists do every day?' It's a wonder we don't have more 20 year old "dads" doing what women and doctors have been an accomplice to for years in America," the comic wrote on her Facebook page Friday. "When you forget the Ten Commandments, people, This is what you get." And that was just the...

Victoria Jackson sank to a new low with a post on her Facebook page just hours after the tragedy began unfolding at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
The former "SNL" star is no stranger to stoking controversy. She repeatedly made headlines throughout the presidential election, most notably for her response to Todd Akin's legitimate rape controversy.
But this post, quoting her friend and fellow Tea Partier Jim Riley, is her most shockingly tone deaf yet, echoing a sentiment that seems more like something you'd hear from Fred Phelps:

Public Enemies screenwriter Ronan Bennett is taking on a potentially loaded project. He'll adapt Dean King's book Skeletons on the Zahara, which tells the story of twelve American sailors who into submit themselves into slavery in Africa after being shipwrecked, hoping that as slaves they'll be given enough sustenance to survive. The story is based in part on the account of the ordeal written by one of the men, Captain James Riley. Riley's account told of an arduous trek across the Sahara Desert and subsequently being taken captive and enslaved. (Abraham Lincoln reportedly said Riley's book was one of the books that most influenced him.) It's classic adventure stuff, made rather more compelling by being true. There are excellent parts in here for a couple of actors -- certainly an American to play Captain Riley, and then the North African merchant Hamet, who buys the men out of slavery...

A true story of riches to rags, the book Skeletons On The Zahara will be adapted into a screenplay by Public Enemies scribe Ronan Bennet [Deadline]. The book, written by Dean King tells the true story of a merchant vessel captained by James Riley that was shipwrecked in Africa. The crew then trials through the Sahara, before they are captured and made slaves. Riley eventually wrote a memoir of the event, republished with a new title: Sufferings in Africa.
The film is being produced by London based Independent (Moon). The company is also reportedly seeking a prominent American actor to play Captain Riley. Though no one is tipped, I have to think Sam Rockwell is high on their list, after turning Moon into a one-man powerhouse. With one of the most memorable performances of the last 10 years and a host of other really stellar roles, Rockwell would seemingly be a perfect choice,...

Exclusive: Ronan Bennett is writing the screenplay for this adaptation of Dean King’s true-life bestseller about 12 American sailors forced into slavery in Africa when they were shipwrecked in 1815. The sailors endured a punishing trek across the Sahara before they were taken prisoner. Captain James Riley’s account of their ordeal caused a sensation when it was published two years later. Abraham Lincoln said it was one of the books that had most influenced him alongside the Bible. Independent, the London-based sales company, is developing and producing. The sales house, whose previous credits include Moon, wants to make two of its own features a year in addition to projects it’s selling for others such as We Need to Talk About Kevin for BBC Films. “Skeletons On the Zahara is going to be a really fantastic project for the right American star to play Captain Riley,” Independent CEO Luc Roeg tells me.
