Dante is one of the most impressive titles I have read in some time (I feel like i’m saying this a lot lately). The sign of a good book for me is that it has me gripped right from the very first page. Matt Hawkins and Jason Ning’s casual use of phrases like “I have something to confess, sometimes I kill people” and of course a few well placed curse words, really grabbed me. I got a couple pages in and started to feel like I had seen this before, like it was gonna be the hit-man with a heart of gold cliche. All my worries were alleviated when you find that yes, our main character has family but he also has the mind to scram if needed (you know like Dexter).

I’m really having trouble buying into this comic. I’ll admit that my own politics on the Gmo issue color my views substantially, but even apart from that, this comic is falling into a lot of familiar disaster clichés. The characters in the comic are not interesting at all, and what emerges is a comic in which you flip pages and wait for something bad to happen.
Los Angeles is now blanketed with spreading dandelions, and Dr. Miller is being mocked by his teenaged sister as #dandelionloser. Dr. Silva is continuing to act like an idiot, acting shocked when people start blaming her for the outbreak and her sponsors distance themselves from her. Miller quickly gets detained by the police, partly for his own safety, and is forced to sit out for the rest of the comic.

Wildfire #1 is the first issue of Image’s latest high-concept series, one in which the world is threatened by genetically-modified plants. It’s an intriguing and certainly unique premise, but for a series like this to succeed, it needs to have something more than its initial hook, and it remains to be seen if Wildfire has that.
This is clearly a subject near to writer Matt Hawkins’ heart. The issue opens in media res, with Los Angeles ravaged by a massive wild fire, then steps back in time a few days to show readers what led to the fire. In the process, Hawkins presents both sides of the argument over genetically-modified-organisms (or GMOs). It’s unclear if all the statistics the characters cite in the course of the argument are accurate, but they at least *sound* accurate,...

Wildfire is a comic about a controversial topic that’s been prominent in the news recently: Genetically Modified Organisms. The comic takes place in Los Angeles amidst a disaster set in motion by the release of a Gmo. As anti-gmo advocates in the United States are pushing for laws requiring the labeling of genetically modified foods, Matt Hawkins wants to ask questions about both sides of the debate as well as to tell a disaster story. Wildfire is an interesting comic with a good premise but a flawed opening issue.
The comic begins with an uncontrolled wildfire blazing through the heart of Los Angeles, threatening most of the city. Three days prior to this, a researcher named Beth Silva is appearing on TV. She runs a private laboratory sponsored by a fictional biotech company called Biogenesis. In...

Artist and writer Larime Taylor joins us today for our latest feature. In this Q&A session, Larime tells us about developing the story behind A Voice in the Dark, taking it from a successful Kickstarter Project to Top Cow, and what’s next:
Thank you very much for taking the time to talk with us, Larime. For those who may not be familiar with A Voice in the Dark, can you tell our readers a bit about what they can expect from the series?
Larime Taylor: My pleasure! I describe it as psychological noir. It’s more character-driven than most horror, which is more action-oriented. At its core, it’s about a young woman who is trying to figure out who she is and what she wants to do with her life. Complicating things is the fact that she’s struggling with lifelong compulsions to kill, so on top...

Are you interested in the history of the Nintendo Entertainment System? Specifically, what games came out and when. There's Wikipedia for that, but isn't there something a tad bit prettier? So much so that it's suitable for framing?
Well, now there is, thanks to Pop Chart Lab's The Nebula of Nes Games.
Pop Chart Lab's latest piece presents over 700 games, released between 1984 and 1993, and in an extremely eye pleasing fashion. At the center of the nebula is the very first Super Mario Bros, and at the very end is… well, you'll have to see for yourself.
According to Joystiq, the piece is 24 x 36 and standalone version is just $32, along with pricier price points for fancier versions. The Nebula of Nes Games starts shipping this Friday, September 20.

GTA V isn't just the biggest game at the moment, it also happens to be the latest iteration of what might be the most important hallmark for the medium in the past fifteen plus years.
And as is often the case for anything that's truly ground breaking and game changing, it almost never came to be. You hear that often in movies, books, and music, but the same can indeed be said for Grand Theft Auto.
The Guardian has produced a video that details the very rocky road that led to the very first Grand Theft Auto, all the way back in 1997. It's a must watch, and not just for diehard fans of GTA but those who appreciate video game history in general:
Turns out, working on the game that will help to revolutionize the world of video games was no party. At a certain point during the entire four-year production cycle,...

Once again, programmers and hackers and bears oh my are hard at work, filling certain holes in the Atari 2600 library. These games are not remakes, but demakes. And hot on the heels of Princess Rescue, aka Super Mario Bros, is Zippy the Porcupine, aka Sonic The Hedgehog.
Polygon reports that the following is a work in progress, which is further evidenced by the 2600 emulator front end that kicks everything off. It's also why one must hold final judgment until it’s running on actual 2600 hardware. Still, it's quite impressive:
According to the creator, via the Atari Age Forums, some concessions will obviously be necessary:
"I was originally going to have rings explode from Zippy when he got hit by an enemy but with the enemy still on screen I found it rather impossible to do, so here's my work-around. When you get hit by an enemy, the enemy "steals" your rings.

"Super Mario Bros." helped sell the Nes, "Super Mario 64" was the reason to get a N64, the original Game Boy was initially believed just to be a "Tetris" playing device, and the only game you absolutely needed for the Wii, again at the very beginning, was "Wii Sports."
So to say that original pack-in for Nintendo's previous console was kind of special is an understatement. That and how it sold the very concept of motion-sensing games to the masses. Again, "Wii Sports" is more than a little significant.
And it's coming back for the Wii U, though in a slightly manner than before, along with new bells and whistles.
Nintendo has announced "Wii Sports Clubs," which brings back the original Wii Sports activities… Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Boxing, and Bowling… in HD. Along with enhanced controls, thanks to Wii MotionPlus, plus online play capabilities.

So it's the day that we've all been waiting for: "GTA V" is finally here. But many have yet to pick up a copy. Why? Because, for those who have both a Xbox 360 and PS3, they don't know which version to get. And it's a fair question, but one that's tricky to tackle.
Still, there are two basic criteria that can help answer the question. First: online play. On one hand, the 360 has traditionally had a more thriving online community for games, but with the rise in popularity of PlayStation Plus, that's slowly changing.
Whereas the second criteria is, naturally, graphics. Many will recall the PS3 edition of GTA IV not looking so hot, when compared to the 360's. But that was years ago, when the PS3 versions were generally inferior to the 360 equivalents. Much has changed since; even Rockstar's subsequent multiplatform releases are indicative of this.

Not long ago, it was reported that Index Corporation, parent company of Atlus, was not doing so well financially. So much so that they were thinking of selling their video game making division, one that is responsible for "Shin Megami Tensei," "Persona," "Dragon's Crown," and countless other properties.
One of the interested parties was Sega, which offered 20 billion yen. Well, the deal is done; Sega will soon be the Atlus's new owner officially. And the final sale price? 14 billion yen. According to various sources, the transaction will be finalized in November.

The date for Evo 2013 has finally been revealed: July 11-13. And the place? Where its been for a little while now: Las Vegas.

Hey, have you heard; "GTA V" finally came out! And if people aren't playing the game, they're at least talking about it. Not just the about the game itself, but the reviews as well.

First, it's always good hearing what a non-gaming specific site has to say. One that delivers news of all kind, to be exact. Like CNN, Fox News, and The Onion. And the latter's appraisal of Rockstar's latest and greatest… courtesy of Kevin Mitchell, a Dayton, Oh native… is nice and to the point:

Video game characters are like all celebrities, meaning some of them have skeletons in the closet. Though no one in this category is as full as Mega Man's.
From the cancellation of Legend 3, to that PSP port of the very first game with the somewhat racist boss, the list is long. But at the very top has to be box art for the aforementioned Nes debut, which many firmly believe to be the worst cover of all time.
Who the heck is that guy and what business does he have, parading around as Mega Man? It doesn't matter, because at long last, the real thing is finally here to get the answers we've all been asking for. Maybe.
No, it's not some cross over being engineered by Capcom, especially since they've made it loud and clear that they're done with their once former mascot. It's Archie Comics,...

Kotaku describes Superhot (all caps) as being "like Braid with guns" , which is definitely an apt description. Basically, it's a first person shooter in which strategy plays an even bigger part than just mindlessly running and gunning. Because time marches forward only when you do.
The trailer doesn't do much in telling the whole story; Superhot is one of those things that needs to be played to be understood. But at the very least, the trailer is still cool to look at:
As for playing it, that came be done right this second. There may also be a Steam release, provided it gets Greenlit. Would you pay for a more expanded version? You should.

A couple of questions: do you like Diable? A fan of Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past? And what are your thoughts on pixels? We're talking very pretty, as in jaw droppingly gorgeous pixels. Then you might want to check out Hyper Light Drifter.
It's by Heart Machine, aka Alex Preston, who describes himself primarily as an illustrator, does his self profession passion for video games is quite evident in the following (he's also worked on Samurai Gunn, so he definitely has some hands on experience as well):
As for what it's all about, here's a bit of the description:
"Drifters of this world are the collectors of forgotten knowledge, lost technologies and broken histories. Our Drifter is haunted by an insatiable illness, traveling further into the lands of Buried Time, steeped in blood and treasure hoping to discover a way to quiet the vicious disease.

Remember yesterday when we advised all owners of "GTA V" for the Xbox 360 to no install both discs? Well, as it turns out, there's a real reason behind Rockstar's suggestion. But thankfully, there's also a work around of sorts.
First, let's see the game running as Rockstar has advised everyone to do so, with just disc 1 installed and disc 2 in the drive, versus both discs installed on the same 360 hard drive:
The above, courtesy of Digital Foundry by the way, illustrates the jarring pop up that occurs with certain textures and objects. Though as one can also see, it's far less noticeable when the game is running normal speed.
Though Digital Foundry has also discovered a solution; installing the second disc on a Usb flash drive nets zero performance issues. Take a look:
As you can see, the problems are gone, though they also state that "milage will vary". For best results,...

The aforementioned Mighty No. 9's Kickstarter, specifically its incredible momentum, shows zero signs of slowing down. Case in point: the $2,200,000 mark has been reach, which means yet another stretch goal has been met. Which in this case means Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U versions are definitely on the way.
Mighty No. 9's hardest of the hardcore supporters could not be any happier, given than they feel such a game deserves to be on a console. Especially considering its ties to creator Keiji Inafune's most famous creation, which No. 9 obviously owes a lot to, and which was given birth on a video game system.
As for PS4 and Xbox One versions, which is the final stretch goal outlined, there's exactly two weeks left till the $3,300,000 can be reached. Given that the $2.2 million milestone was met during the middle of the Kickstarter, which is when such things generally...

A special Super Mario Bros Time Trial level by Stabyourself.net (best known for that game that combines Super Mario and Portal) was created for Gamescom 2013 attendees. One that was played over 1,000 times, and Stabyourself.net recorded each and every attempt. And which was also combined into a single video.
Actually, the following, which Game Informer picked up on first, only has the top 974 attempts. According to the original blog post:
"We would’ve had more, but at some point getting the high score became really serious business so there was probably about 1000 game resets after the first 3 jumps didn’t work out.
You should watch it in 1080p for a crisp overview of the action… We [also] spared you the thunderous sounds of jumping."
And according to the YouTube description, the best run is 41:32. Also:
"There was a 3 second penalty for dying which explains all the frozen Marios.

Let us guess; the workday thus far has been fairly miserable. Why? Lack of sleep, because you stood in line the midnight launch of "GTA V," and played the game till 5 in the morning.
And as such, you wish you were back home, getting some rest... though mostly to play some more "GTA V." But you also blew all your sick days on the last big game release. What do to?
Why, download iFruit from the iTunes App Store, that's what.
Every major game has an accompanying smart phone app and Grand Theft Auto 5 is no different. iFruit lets you fiddle with one's Rockstar Social Club account, though there are two activities that directly relates to "GTA V."
First you can customize cars; everything from the outside, like the paint job and spoilers, to the inside, like the engine and brakes. Second, there's a virtual pet component...

For everyone out there who plans on getting the Xbox 360 version of "GTA V," an important heads up.
The 360 version comes on two discs; the first has data that must be installed, which the second one relies upon (and is what you play the game off of). Some folks may have ideas of installing disc two as well, to further spare themselves of the console's noisy disc drive.
Well, Rockstar says think again. According to a statement issued on Twitter: "For optimal performance, we recommend not installing that disc. We will have more info on our Support Site at launch."
So, all you 360 owners, you have been warned.
Also, check out our 'Grand Theft Auto V" live-stream tonight!

The legacy of River City Random cannot be overstated. The 80s 8bit classic wasn't the very first game of its kind (it's actually the third in the series), but it helped to lay the groundwork for an entire genre, and many others in fact, for many years to come.
Which is why it's rather perplexing that a proper sequel was never ever produced. There was a remake for the Game Boy Advance, but that's about it (a sequel was in the plans, for the Wii, but was eventually scrapped). Thankfully, one appears to be finally in the cards, thanks to the modern miracle that is… you guessed it… Kickstarter.
The project is being spearheaded by Conatus Creative, a Western indie developer that managed to secure the rights to the Eastern license, which is quite the coup. It's also worth noting that the studio is from Ottawa, and...

It is the year 2013 and there is still no unified account system for Nintendo's customers.
Whereas not being able to link one's Wii and DSi accounts were somewhat understandable, given that digital downloads was relatively undiscovered territory (at least on the console side, for back in 2006), plus both systems came out years apart from each other.
Both the Wii U and 3Ds were both developed and released close to each, and both sport the Nintendo eShop, yet one needs to manage games and credit on each ends individually. What is this and will this change anytime soon?
Well, regarding the former question, everyone knows the answers: Nintendo will do what Nintendo does. And as for the latter, at the very least, they're aware of the situation.
When talking with Dan Adelman, Nintendo of America's head of business development, Destructoid ask if Wii U and 3Ds owners...

We all hate the very concept, yet as best as we try, there's no avoiding it either: Dlc.
It's only been a relatively short period of time since we first gazed upon Elder Scrolls: Oblivion's horse armor, but downloadable content has managed to completely change the way games are produced and played, plus it doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. Still, Dlc remains a very bitter pill to swallow.
And in such case, perhaps a song will help?
The following, which was first spotted on NeoGAF, takes a classic ditty made famous in Disney's Alladin and filled it with "tons of truth bombs" as the kids might say:
As cliched as it sounds, but it's funny because it's true. Anyhow, bonus video time, by the same author, but with Disney's Mulan:

As video games continue to become an ever-present part of our everyday lives, it makes sense for them to become increasingly visible in movies. Not necessarily as the focus, but just as plot points.
As is the case with "Grudge Match," starring Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro.
Both men play over the hill boxers who retired before having the much desired tie breaking grudge match. But when they decide to lend their fighting skills in a video game, in the form of a motion capture session, it's their first chance to see each other in 30 years.
And as it turns out, there's still plenty of bad blood amongst each other:
Movies starring actors who are now old guys that are built around them being old guys is become increasingly popular, so the presence of "what the kids are into", i.e. video games, simply accentuates the total package.

The day that many longtime fans of Criterion Games, best known for the Burnout series, and who helped to salvage the mess that was the Need For Speed franchise, has finally arrived. And the sad thing is, many saw it coming, all the way back in 2004, when EA first acquired the studio.
Joystiq, along with several other outlets, have reported the recent restructuring of the UK based developer. What used to be a studio that had around 80 individuals now has only 16, according to Criterion creative director Alex Ward on Twitter.
Between 60 to 65 now former Criterion employees have been sent to Ghost Games, another EA owned studio that operates out of Sweden, to help work on the upcoming Need for Speed: Rivals. Ward also seems to note that reshuffling isn't temporary; once Rivals is finished, said former Criterion hands are expected to remain at Ghost.

One of the most eagerly anticipated games of not just this year, but in recent memory period, arrives tomorrow. Though not surprisingly, some copies are already out in the wild.
The street date for "Grand Theft Auto V" has officially been broken, as evidenced by all the Tweets and Instagram pics from those who are very much delighted by their good fortune.
Now, this happens with virtually every big release, to the point that it's practically a non-news story. But instead of it being some mom and pop game shops wanting to make some easy money, as is often the case, GameIndustry reports that Amazon is one of the guilty parties.
Rockstar, needless to say, is not pleased. They've worked very hard to control the flow of information and all that might be for naught, especially since other retailers may now be tempted to pull the trigger ahead of time as well.

For all you thirty year olds out there: don't you miss the good old days of video game advertisements? Back when ads were all goofy and lighthearted, and not all dark and dreary?
Sure some of the potty jokes or examples of "extreme" behavior were embarrassingly cheesy and clearly desperate, even back when you were a teen. But many of us would gladly have some of that nowadays, instead of the dripping with pathos reminders of how grim life can be that seems to embody every contemporary game ad.
Also, silly sight gags trump over million-dollar CGI any day. Anyhow, if you're the aforementioned camp, then please check out this Harvest Moon: A New Beginning commercial:
Because sometimes, seeing a girl getting hit with cow feces is enough to make you consider picking up a video game. Also, British humor.

One of the summer's hottest flicks, Star Trek Into Darkness, was the recipient of one of the year's worst tie in games.
And while crappy video game adaptations of motion pictures is not entirely a new thing, it was still pretty bad, and hit particularly close to home for the source material's director.
According to Polygon, citing a report from GamerHubVideos, Abrams and his associates were actively involved in the game, which simply goes by Star Trek:
"The last game, which was obviously a big disappointment to me, was something that we were actually involved in from the very beginning and then we sort of realized it was not going in a place where we were going to get what we wanted, so we dropped out and they continued to do it despite... y'know."
The end result was a game that not only offended Abrams on a very personal level,...

No matter how weird or bad a console's name, the general public eventually get used to it. Like the Wii U for example it was vehemently hated at first, but eventually, acceptance sank in and everyone simply began using the term.
But the Xbox One is different, because early on, people came up with a not so flattering nickname: the Xbone. And the best/worst part is how it comes in handy when talking about the not so stellar choices that Microsoft has made with their upcoming console.
So you'd think that Ms would try their best to distance themselves from a slightly derogatory term, right? Nope, because they have just purchased the Xbone.com domain
Fusible discovered the acquisition, thanks to recently updated Whois records. And it doesn't do much at the moment; it simply goes to a Bling page that finds all results for the name Xbone,...

Keiji Inafune, the man who gave the world "Mega Man," and who also hopes to give everyone "Mighty No. 9," recently spoke with Kotaku about past accomplishments and future goals.
Naturally, his most famous creation comes up, a lot. The recap even kicks off with him answering who would win in a fight, though quite a few other things are touched upon alongside.
Like, why he's doing a Mega Man-esque game in the first place, despite the fact that, in the past, he's complained about not being able to do different things. Isn't that why he left Capcom in the first place?

The "Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker" has always been a class of its own, and in many different ways, as noted yesterday. So when word first came of a HD remake, the reaction was not as jubilant as one might have expected.
After-all, the original's aesthetics is still very impressive; what is there to improve? And while some hardcore fans are not happy with the remake's visual direction, many others are simply unable to detect any differences.
So, what are the differences between the original version and the revamped version anyway? That's exactly what GameXplain decided to find out.
The following is a head to head comparison, with Wind Waker HD to the left and Wind Waker Gc to the right. And upon closer examination, the differences are practically night and day:

The second season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy, one of the most successful web series to be based upon any video game ever, is almost upon us. Mortal Kombat: Legacy II will make its debut on Sept. 26, via Machinima's YouTube channel.
But first thing's first; check out the brand new trailer:
Once again, the series is being helmed by Kevin Tancharoen. The first Mortal Kombat: Legacy was borne from a short he created, which served as a proof of concept for a live action Mk-reboot. It's not a stretch to say that it perhaps did more to revive interest in the Mortal Kombat that any of the actual games in recent years.
Though the highly successful, back to basics, most recent installment of the game was in production well before the first web series had hit the web, though that game's popularity was certainly bolstered by the show nonetheless.

Some questions: do you like Metroid? Do you like Castlevaina? Basically, do you like Metroidvania-type games? Also Dark Souls and Vanquish also? Well, then you might be interested in Blood Alloy.
It's by Suppressive Fire Games, which is actually just one person: Frank Washburn. Washburn hails from Harmonix, and after about five years spent at the house that Guitar Hero and Rock Band built, and also after beating Hotline Miami, an idea for a game began to form:
Here are some additional bits of info about the game itself:
"You play as a young female amnesiac who, thanks to a software malfunction, regains consciousness in a high-tech laboratory. Upon discovering that your body is now almost wholly cybernetic, you break out of your stasis pod to escape, discover the secrets behind your identity, and wreck havoc upon your enemies.
Explore a world teetering on the brink of apocalypse.

Nintendo has revealed the latest challenger to be confirmed for the next Super Smash Bros, coming to both the Wii U and 3Ds. And it's Mario's gal pal, Princess Peach herself.
Though, as she often does every once in a while, she's doing away with the whole damsel in distress shtick in this instance, to show that she can take care of herself when need be it.
Here's a couple more, all from the Wii U version:
As one tell, she's mostly sporting moves that everyone knows by now, though her about to throw the blue Pikmin like a football, if that’s what is indeed happening in the last shot, looks new.
You can see a few additional shots, plus a pair from the 3Ds edition here.
No word yet on when the games are due, though one gets the sense that Nintendo is taking its sweet time,...

For some time now, iPhone users have had Siri to help use their mobile device with just voice commands (though the end result is often mixed at best).
And Microsoft, looking to do whatever they can to help make their Windows Phone platform competitive with Apple's iOS, wants a personal, virtual assistant of their own.
But instead of creating one from the ground up, they're borrowing one from a friend of their's: Master Chief. Somewhat.
According to The Verge, citing a ZDNet report, the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 update will have a Siri-like component that is currently codenamed Cortana. You know, from Halo.
It is noted that the current version of Windows Phone allows for basic voice commands already, but Cortana will learn from and adapt with the person she's supposed to aide. Much like she did for Master Chief in Halos 1-4.
No word yet on whether...

Wondering how the recently-announced PlayStation Vita lost some of the heft of the launch version of the Sony handheld? Well, it has to do with reverting from the brighter Oled screen to an LCD screen.
Talking with Nikkei's Tech On blog, Sony president Andrew House explained that the LCD hardware allowed them to lighten some of the load on the Vita hardware, which is 20% thinner and 15% lighter than the original model, according to our own Matt Hawkins.
House defends the move, saying that modern LCDs are much brighter than the ones used during the PSP era.
The Ps Vita Slim will go on sale on October 10th in Japan, although no word has been given on when we can expect it here in the U.S.

For those who haven't heard, new Harry Potter movies are on the way, or at least a spinoff film series. The first in the series will be Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, based upon the text book that all Hogwarts first years have to acquire.
And will there be a video game based upon it? You bet there will.
According to Deadline, even though Fantastic Beasts is way early in production, with no director attached as of yet (though there is a screenwriter, the creator of Harry Potter herself, J.K. Rowling), Warner Bros has already announced that tie-in games are also on the way.
The movie, and presumably the game as well, will take place 70 years before the events of the very first Harry Potter book/movie, and in New York. It will also star Newt Scamander, the fictitious author of the fictitious book.

Time for a brief history lesson: the game that would end up being Final Fantasy Type-0 for the PSP was originally supposed to be something called Final Fantasy Agito Xiii.
It was conceived as a spin off of FF13, and a follow up of sorts to Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, which itself was a spin off of FF7 for mobile phones.
Eventually the game changed its name and platform, but just the other day, Square Enix decided to resurrect the Agito name. For what's basically a retelling of Type-0, and for the originally intended platform, iOS and Android.
Oh, also, it's free to play:
Again, it's the tale told originally in Type-0, but from the perspective of two new characters. And according to producer Hajime Tabata, when speaking with Famitsu, which Polygon has translated:
"There's an ending, and when the story ends one time, the next...

The ninth full-on Humble Indie Bundle just went on sale (there have been numerous offerings since the last one, and many of them have included indie games, but it's been a little while since the last curated collection that put Humble Bundle on the map).
And anyone familiar should know the deal by now: it's a chance to nab some of the finest PC games for a price that you get to choose. Up for grabs this time is "Trine 2: Complete Story," "Mark of the Ninja," "Brutal Legend," and the "Eets Munchies" Beta.
Though paying more than the average will net bonuses, which in this case are "Ftl: Faster Than Light" and "Fez."
Another great thing about these collections is how it's often everyone's first chance to enjoy said PC classics on the Mac and Linux. With the Humble Indie Bundle 9 being no exception; both Fez...

Disney's The Little Mermaid will making a special, limited engagement return to theaters across the country tomorrow night. No doubt this is aimed at folks who saw the movie on the big screen as a child, back in 1989, and who have since had children of their own.
Kids today often have their faces buried in an iPad, and movies are a great way to have them look up for a tiny bit at least. Though Disney is actively encouraging families to bring said iOS devices to the theater.
Why? Because of the The Little Mermaid: Second Screen Live.
Basically, while the movie is playing, kinds (and parents) are supposed to fire up an app that allows them to "interact with the film.":
It's worth noting that the "movie going has never been so much fun!" line is delivered in the same fashion that the narrator normally...

As most folks know by now, the upcoming HD remake of "The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD" for the Wii U started out as an tech demo which was eventually given the green light to become a full fledged game.
But as it turns out, a couple of other Zelda were toyed around with as well. According to Polygon that three preexisting Zeldas were experimented with in total, with the other two being "Twilight Princess" and "Skyward Sword."
Basically, the whole point of the experiment according to Eiji Aonuma, chief steward of the franchise, was to figure out the graphical approach for the next installment of the series, which is being designed from the ground up for the Wii U. As such:
"… it part of that process we took some existing Zelda games and made them HD just to see what would happen. In doing so...

A while ago, Eiji Aonuma, best know as being the longtime producer and director of "The Legend of Zelda," told the whole world that he had checked out "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim."
And as is often the case, one thing led to another, and next thing you know, there were rumors going around that the next Zelda would be heavily influenced by Skyrim.
Which to be honest, is not the craziest of notions; word has it that playing "Shadows of the Colossus" at E3 many years back played a part in Twilight Princess. Though the most piece of speculation is just that and nothing more.
Aonuma set the record straight recently with USGamer. First of all, here's the real reason why he picked up Skyrim in the first place:
"I started playing Skyrim because the name was so close to "Skyward Sword" and I wanted to see what that was about.
