The 2014 “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot received terrible reviews, so why would they make a sequel? That’s exactly what critics are wondering as well. Critics are describing “Out of the Shadows” as “headache-inducing,” “amoral at best,” and “a strangely joyless exercise,” giving the film an accumulated score of 37 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. “The current iteration of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ is a toxic alchemy combining nostalgia, CGI, and a bit of cultural appropriation thrown in for good measure,” said TheWrap’s film critic Michael Nordine. “ ends up a soupy mess — director David Green’s sequel has turtles, but not much.

Whither the radical reptiles of yore? Apropos of a franchise about crime-fighters created in a lab, the current iteration of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” is a toxic alchemy combining nostalgia, CGI, and a bit of cultural appropriation thrown in for good measure. Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael’s place in today’s superhero landscape is an odd one, operating somewhere in the space between Marvel’s streamlined efficiency and DC’s foreboding inconsistency. “Out of the Shadows,” the second of the new “Tmnt” series, tries to incorporate elements of both and ends up a soupy mess — director David Green’s sequel has turtles,...

Say what you will about last year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but director David Green is putting together an interesting cast for his sequel. At the beginning of this month we got word that Laura Linney would be joining Tmnt 2 (in an unspecified role), and we already know that Tyler Perry will be playing Madea Baxter Stockman. To serve up an extra special slice of nostalgia, set pictures have revealed that the original April O'/Neil from the 90s flick, Judith Hoag, will...

Brian Tee ("The Wolverine," "Jurassic World") has been cast as the iconic villain Shredder in Paramount's upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" sequel which has just begun filming.

Stephen Amell appears to have quite a lot on his plate right now. His hit CW show Arrow is heading full speed towards its Season 3 finale in May, while he's also just been cast as fan-favorite vigilante Casey Jones in David Green's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel. That didn't stop him from sitting down for a Q&A at the Vancouver Fan Expo this weekend, where he was able to express his excitement about the new role - and compare Mr. Jones to Mr. Queen: “Obviously the similarities are right there on the surface, but if the audition process and the script is any indication [Casey Jones] is going to be fundamentally different [from The Arrow]. As a matter of fact, it’s almost like the character of Casey Jones in this iteration of Ninja Turtles is almost a little bit more like the Oliver Queen that people know from the older comic books.

Goongala! Unstable hockey mask-wearing vigilante Casey Jones will be played by Arrow star Stephen Amell, who'll be swapping his bow for some lethal sporting equipment in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel (working title "Half-Shell") according to Variety. Apparently Amell tested with 6 other actors over the weekend but it was chemistry with the returning Megan Fox that ultimately landed him the role. Jones is an ally of the Turtles and also an on-again-off-again love interest for April O'Neil, which seems to be the they'll be going here. David Green will direct this time, with Michael Bay once again on board as producer. The movie hits theaters June 3, 2016.

Writer-director Todd Rohal’s new film The Catechism Cataclysm may well be the year’s strangest movie — but to elaborate further on on its weirdness would be to spoil the fun of watching it. Let’s just say that, for most of its length, the film concerns a short canoe trip taken by an inept priest named Father Billy (Steve Little from Eastbound & Down) and an old acquaintance named Robbie (Robert Longstreet, who is also the movie’s executive producer). But that none of the film’s first 50 minutes prepares you in any way for what occurs in the concluding,...

With Your Highness out now in UK cinemas, we caught up with co-writer and star Danny McBride to talk about improvisation, R-rated comedy and jelly sweets...
"Reversy Percy?" Danny McBride asks, holding out a bag of sweets. "I used to eat Percy pigs all the time while we were shooting, so someone went to Marks & Spencer and picked up a bunch of ‘em for me."
It's fair to say you never quite know what to expect when you walk into an interview room, but my meeting with Danny McBride marks the first time I've been offered a sweet by a Hollywood actor. Naturally, I didn't refuse, but then discovered that Percy Pigs are among the chewiest, gummiest sweets on the planet. So, when Mr McBride asked, "They're great, right?", my jaws were almost too stuck together to respond.

Danny McBride cowrote and costars in the medieval comedy Your Highness, which hits theaters on April 8. The actor plays the massively lazy Prince Thadeous to James Franco's Prince Fabius. When Fabius's fiancée is kidnapped, Thadeous is forced to go along on the wild ride to rescue her. Along the way, the bros encounter pervy old wizards, fierce female warriors, and even a fabled minotaur. Danny reunited with James in Beverly Hills for the movie's press day recently to talk about getting crude with Natalie Portman, working with Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green again, and which moments had him cracking up on set. Here are some highlights: On the hardest scene to shoot: "You know, surprisingly the scene that I couldn't get through was the scene I had to do with Natalie where we're sitting at this table in this tavern, and I have to confront her about stealing this compass.

David Green who directed the 2008 hit comedy, Pineapple Express sat down with MTV at New York Comic Con to catch up the media on stuff he's been working on. As you know, Pineapple Express was a huge hit, producing about a 300% return for the studio.
Obviously, this type of success gives David Green the green light on a sequel for the film once he gets his creative juices flowing to figure out how to make another drug comedy without playing the same tune. It seems like he does have some sort of an idea in terms of the direction he wants to go.

Before his career-changing turn in Sideways, most people knew Thomas Haden Church as a television actor on Wings, and Ned and Stacy. He'll play "a park ranger who partners with a teen (David Dorfman) to escape a portion of highway where roadkill is resurrected as flesh-eating zombie animals." Actor and sometime screenwriter Danny McBride has risen to the top of Hollywood's comedy food chain, having handily stolen scenes from Ben Stiller ("Tropic Thunder") and Will Ferrell ("Land of the Lost"), and become the headliner of his own series as washed-up baseballer Kenny Powers on HBO's "Eastbound & Down," a series he helped conceive. McBride's success is deserved, though he certainly gets by with a little help from his friends. Long before he was the "thug life"-lovin' drug supplier in director David Gordon Green's "Pineapple Express," he served as a second unit director on Green's 2000 arthouse breakthrough "George Washington." And he wouldn't have had a cameo in Jody Hill's "Observe and Report" if he hadn't co-wrote and starred in Hill's indie cult fave "The Foot Fist Way" as a renegade Taekwondo instructor who beats up kids.
