Per the official logline, the show “follows Cherry, the Devil’s precocious 7-year-old granddaughter, who steals the Heaven-bound soul of rock-goth icon Briggy Bundy (Kiedis). The unlikely duo stumble upon forgotten realms of the afterlife while evading Cherry’s mother and an agent from heaven sent to reclaim Briggy’s soul.”

Mindy McCready's former drugs counsellor believes the suicide of her boyfriend pushed her over the edge. The country singer took her own life at her Arkansas home earlier this month, 36 days after her partner David Wilson passed away in the same place, and Bob Forrest - who worked with the late star on 'Celebrity Rehab' in 2009 - was surprised by her actions. He said: 'I never thought Mindy would take her own life. I always thought if she died it would be at the hands of another because of her past physically abusive relationships with men. 'Mindy had lost custody of her kids before and didn't kill herself then. I absolutely believe that David Wilson's suicide a month...

Nashville, Tenn. — The criticism of Dr. Drew Pinsky spread on the Internet almost as quickly as news of Mindy McCready's death.
The country singer with the tumultuous personal life became the fifth cast member of his "Celebrity Rehab" series to die since appearing on the show and the third from Season 3. The previous deaths stirred up rumors of a curse and a debate about the show's helpfulness. McCready's apparent suicide upped the pitch of the reaction, however.
Singer Richard Marx on Twitter compared Pinsky to Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the so-called suicide doctor: "Same results."
Marx backed off later Monday, saying the crack went too far. But he restated his thoughts in a way that summed up much of the reaction in the first 24 hours since the 37-year-old McCready's death Sunday afternoon in Heber Springs, Ark.

Heber Springs, Ark. — Mindy McCready threatened suicide after losing custody of her sons earlier this month, yet she was allowed to leave a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program just days before she apparently killed herself at her Arkansas home, her ex-boyfriend said Monday.
Billy McKnight, who was in a long, stormy relationship with McCready and is the father of her oldest child, Zander, said the 37-year-old mother of two stayed in the substance abuse treatment center for about 18 hours before she was allowed to walk free.
McCready died Sunday at her home in Heber Springs, a vacation community about 65 miles north of Little Rock. She was found dead on the front porch, where her longtime boyfriend, musician David Wilson, died last month of a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities are investigating both deaths as suicides but haven't determined an official cause of death.

Leif Garrett's been battling substance abuse problems for years, which is why he took part in Season 4 of 'Celebrity Rehab.' However, he stormed out of the Pasadena Recovey Center, later telling 'The Los Angeles' Times that producers encouraged him to relapse for dramatic purposes.
Last night Bob Forrest and Rachel Uchitel checked up on Garrett as part of 'Celebrity Rehab Revisited' (Sun., 9Pm Et on VH1) and things did not go too well. Garret told the pair that he'd been taking lots of painkillers following a serious motorcycle accident, and then he admitted dabbling in marijuana and booze.
That's when Bob criticized Garrett's "cavalier and laissez-faire attitude toward alcohol," which did not sit well with the former teen idol. Saying "I really do not appreciate it," Garrett walked out. Again.

Sex, drugs and rock and roll is an expression almost as old as rock music. For Steven Adler these things may be too interconnected for him to successfully tour with his band and find sobriety, as we saw on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9Pm Et on VH1).
When Dr. Drew's Head Counselor, Bob Forrest, stopped in to check on Adler, he was disappointed to find the former Guns N' Roses drummer was still smoking marijuana, and apparently on a daily basis.
To emphasis the severity of Adler's addiction, Forrest asked, "Why couldn't you just not smoke pot for a day? That's what I want to point out to you. You knew I was coming here."

I have no intro for this piece. You see, the Hot Docs Film Festival, showcasing the best in the world of documentary filmmaking, is bigger than ever this year with over 200 movies being screened of the course of 11 days. I have seen about 60 of them in the past three weeks and reviewed most of them for another site. I understand that the choices are overwhelming this year, but here I am to briefly give all you fine Dork Shelf readers my top five picks of the festival and five other films that are in smaller categories of competition that you shouldn’t overlook.
Top Picks:
Wiebo’s War (Canadian Spectrum) – A stunningly stark portrait of what could make a man turn to terrorism, Weibo’s War follows accused Alberta oil pipeline bomber and Christian evangelical Wiebo Ludwig in his deeply personal fights against what really are injustices that have been committed against his family.

I think I can safely say IFC covered the crap out of South by Southwest 2011. Stephen Saito and I reviewed over fifteen films and interviewed over forty filmmakers during our ten days in Austin. That's way more films covered than hours either of us slept. Here now is a complete archive of everything we did: reviews, video interviews, and print interviews. At the bottom, you'll also find mine and Stephen's picks for the five best films at this year's SXSW. Enjoy. I know we did.

For Bob Forrest, it seemed like that was exactly how his story would play out as he struggled with major addictions in the wake of a potentially successful music career. In the midst of one of the biggest music festivals in the world, Bob Forrest wanted the music to be shut off. "Look at this fucking thing that's going on," he asks me, gazing back in the direction of Austin's infamous 6th Street. He laughs, "Do you want to be over there in that fucking thing?"
Though Forrest is still an active musician, there was a time when he was right in the middle of the fray. As the frontman of Thelonious Monster, he came up with a group of Los Angeles bands including the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fishbone (also the subject of an excellent documentary at SXSW called "Everyday Sunshine") that ruled the L.A. scene in the early '80s with a sound that found the rhythm in chaos described as "drunk rock" by one critic. March 10th 6:55 Am. Right now I am on the plane headed to Austin for the premiere of my film, Bob and The Monster. As legend would have it, the film is in fact, in my purse. I didn’t plan for it to happen this way, I wanted to ship it on time and swore that I would, but that was not to be. So here I sit staring at this big HD-cam that represents the last six years of my life.
I’m very proud of this film and very happy to finally share this story with everyone. Bob Forrest is a special guy, not a saint, not super human, just a very cool, interesting, special guy and it’s an honor to be the one bringing his story to the world. I can’t think of a better place for it to premiere as well. SXSW! Great films and rock and roll.

...Or we should say "Cheat Sheets" since this year's SXSW Film Festival boasts over 140 films, requiring more than just one page to cover every single one of the narrative and documentary features that will be playing in Austin from March 11th through 19th. While the festival has already provided a very helpful schedule to flip through and Pdf of the screening grid online, consider this your quick hit guide to all the features at the festival - every title leads to its corresponding festival page in addition to links to trailers, official sites, filmmakers' Facebook pages and Twitter accounts so you can follow the action from the festival or from home.
Meanwhile, there will be plenty of action during these next two weeks on IFC.com where, in addition to our live video page, Matt Singer (@mattsinger) and I (@mfrushmore) will be filing reviews and interviews throughout the film festival.

Former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler is heading back into reality TV rehab - he's signed up for another series of Dr. Drew's hit programme. The musician's battle with drugs reportedly led to him being booted out of the rock band in 1989. He faced his demons by signing up to appear on U.S. show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" and its spin-off series "Sober House" in 2008/09 after he was ordered to get help by a judge.
And despite kicking his drug habit after stints on the shows, Adler has agreed to go back into rehab to ensure he keeps up his recovery. On his Twitter.com page, Adler writes, "As you all may already know, I'm back here at 'Celebrity Rehab' again. Working on making sure I stay on the right track! I'm working with Dr. Drew and Bob Forrest and it's going great so far!"

Debuting next month at SXSW, Bob and the Monster examines outspoken indie-rock hero Bob Forrest’s inspirational journey from promising musician to out-of-control junkie to now-counselor on Celebrity Rehab and Sober House credited with helping others like him.
Six years in the making, this documentary film follows his life-threatening struggle with addiction, to his transformation into one of the most influential and controversial drug counselors in the Us today. Bob And The Monster crafts contemporary footage, animation and compelling interviews with archival performances and personal videos from Bob’s past to reveal the complex layers of this troubled, but hopeful soul. Testimony from his peers, including Courtney Love, Anthony Kiedis and Flea add texture, but it’s the depth of Bob’s music, interwoven throughout the film, that illuminates this unforgettable and inspirational story.

"It was one of the most magical times ever," recalls Anthony Kiedis of the 1980s Los Angeles punk scene that gave birth to bands like his Red Hot Chili Peppers amidst a haze of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. But for indie rock icon Bob Forrest, lead singer of the post-punk band Thelonious Monster, the freely available substances that liberated the scene also sent him into a spiraling drug dependency that ruined his career. After years of battling his demons, Forrest became a renowned drug counselor helping others, and his struggle formed the basis of the documentary Bob and the Monster.

The South by Southwest Film Festival announced its feature film line-up Wednesday, piling heaps of cinematic goodness on an already stellar program that includes Jodie Foster’s The Beaver, Duncan Jones’ Source Code, Ti West’s The Innkeepers, Conan O’Brien’s tour documentary, and the latest Simon Pegg-Nick Frost comedy, Paul, with Seth Rogen.
Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) returns to the festival with her latest film, Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Seyfried, after the writer-director spoke on a screenwriting panel in 2009.
Plus a few favorites from the Sundance Film Festival last month, like Tom McCarthy’s Win Win, Morgan Spurlock’s The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, and Max Winkler’s Ceremony.
I’m extremely excited, even if I’m already having flashbacks to intense sleep deprivation. Like the last two years, I’ll be on the ground covering as much of the festival as I can within the packed 9 days of screenings,...
