- A writer/musician/filmmaker with a diverse range, Greg Camilleri was born in on the last day of the seventies. This cast a strange shadow over his life being the last single spark from a crazed and world-shaking decade.
Since he was very young, Greg was a writer and performer. He wrote his first picture book at age 2, and has been writing ever since. Growing up in Marin County California, Greg spent his days making strange animated films with a Super Nintendo and a VCR. He spent some stints working with Lucas Arts & AutoDesk, finally culminating with a 4 year film course.
Around the same time, Greg picked up a guitar and formed a band, Animal Number 54 that would span 3 & 1/2 years and over 80 songs. During this time he also took voice training classes, and acted in several stage productions and independent films (including Groove, and even a video for LeAnn Rimes.)
After high school, Greg fled to a Berkeley print agency making industrial videos before getting sucked into the black void of the Bay Area dot com rush. After 3 years of living in San Francisco, moving to Emeryville, and eventually getting laid off...Greg packed everything up, charged up the credit cards and moved down the state line to Los Angeles to get back on track in entertainment.
Soon afterward he worked on a feature script, which ended up traveling around the Hollywood circuit and generating some serious buzz. During this time he returned to music for the first time in 3 years, playing a handful of Los Angeles clubs, and recording and self-releasing a 22-track collection of bedroom demos known as the Works in Progress LP, later condensed into the album Auditions, now an indie favorite in the iTunes Music Store. He also began studying with LA comedy troupe The Groundlings.
In 2001 Greg went to work for producer Tova Laiter (Varsity Blues, Evita, Nixon.) Between projects Greg served production stints at Dreamworks, 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures.
