- Ragins' older sister, Julie, tours as a background singer, keyboardist and sax player with the Moody Blues.
- At 32 years old, Ragins discovered his birth mother, Neeltje, and his six half brothers and sisters, whom he never knew of. The identifying information arrived at his house on 9/11. In 2018, he discovered his birth father, Hugh, and two new half brothers.
- Ragins' wife, Kristin, works as a senior architect for Frank Gehry, whose major buildings include the Walt Disney Concert Hall, which she worked on for seven years. Gehry appeared as a guest star in an episode where the town of Springfield commissioned him to design a concert hall similar to the Disney Hall.

- Ragins appeared on an 2010 episode of HGTV's "Don't Sweat It" with his wife, Kristin, where they converted their garage into a multi-purpose art studio with the help of hosts Steve Watson and Jimmy Little.
- He grew up on the northern most golf course in North America, outside Fairbanks, Alaska.
- Ragins had illustrated two children's books in his early/mid 20's. One called "Anna's Athabaskan Summer" by Arnold Griese, about an interior Alaskan Indian girl and her experience learning about her culture at her family's summer fish camp. The other, "The Boy and the North Wind", a Norwegian folk tale retold by Anne Miranda.
