I was among the GoldDerby posters who screened the sample episodes submitted by the nominees for Best Actress at the Daytime Emmys, which air this Sunday night, June 19, on CBS, and I think Colleen Zenk (“As the World Turns”) is way ahead. She contends against Alicia Minshew and Debbi Morgan (“All My Children”), Susan Flannery (“The Bold and the Beautiful”), Laura Wright (“General Hospital”), and Michelle Stafford (“The Young and the Restless”), and though most of us believe Zenk is the frontrunner, she's not a lock. Zenk submitted an emotional episode full of impact and range, in which her character, Barbara Ryan, marries a much younger man while trying to overcome the memory of her evil ex-husband. Zenk, who lo...

Colleen Zenk did a final run-thru of her new cabaret show "Colleen Zenk: Live!" yesterday in New York City. I had the honor to attend and let me tell you, the audience that is lucky enough to catch the April 8th performance at the Bob Egan's New Hope nightclub is in for a real treat. The Emmy-nominated actress has upped her game to bring her fans a delightful mixture of familiar standards and original songs, each and every one with her own unique stamp. And of course, there will be dancing as well!
Zenk's show traces her life story in song. From growing up on a Midwestern farm wanting to be a nun (!), to studying drama in Chicago, to chasing the bright lights of Broadway in New York City, her roles as actress, dancer, mother, wife, and survivor are beautifully shared with laughter, and some tears. For Michael Swan Audition Turns Into 'Old Home Week'
By Tracie Powell and Angela Toszegi
What do Michael Swan, Robert Newman, Randolph Mantooth, and Mark Pinter all have in common besides the obvious? They all showed up for the same job interview last week.
“Just came back from the ‘old home week’ audition of all time. All guys I've worked with over the years going back to prime time in the seventies,” said Michael Swan, who portrayed Duncan McKechnie on As The World Turns in the 1980s.
Swan said he was at the audition with Newman (who portrayed the well-loved ‘Josh Lewis’ on Guiding Light) and they were talking about the ill-fated ‘Brad Green’ on Gl and how Mark Pinter took over the part. “His name had no sooner left my lips then (Pinter) walked in the room,” Swan continued. “So great to see him; what a classy and great looking guy.
