J.D. Dillard’s Sleight is an anomaly for many reasons – least of which involves a body-hacking Iron Boy. How about perennial goofball Dulé Hill passing for a drug kingpin (which he does)? Or Jacob Latimore’s ability to wield magic with a coolness that escapes most street magicians? Seriously. How many dudes have ever successfully sparked a relationship with card tricks? Somehow Dillard makes it all work in this criminal caper about territory, respect and escaping the streets, turning sideshow gags into legitimate superhero escapism. It’s like Now You See Me, but with actual stakes. No Horsemen, just desperation cornered by circumstance.
Latimore plays Bo, an orphaned dropout whose sole focus is caring for little sister Tina (Storm Reid). By day, he stuns passerbys with sleight-of-hand illusions, and by night he deals drugs for Angelo (Dulé Hill). It’s not the life Bo chose – leaving an engineering scholarship behind...

Will Ferrell brought back his SNL impression of former President George W. Bush as a special segment on @Midnight on Tuesday. Host Chris Hardwick introduced Bush, "here to represent the small but formidable voting block of former presidents." After shaking hands with panelists Mary Lynn Rajskub, David Koechner and Brandon Johnson, Bush (Ferrell) took the stage as part of the Comedy Central show's “Voter Voices” segment. Bush first wanted to make a statement about his cousin, Billy Bush. "Him and that disgraced pumpkin Donald Trump, talking on that bus. And I just want to say one thing. We

Did being an out athlete get in the way on the reality series?
The Red Team on this week’s 72 Hours: (l-r) Eric, Marie and Michael Holtz.
Imagine being paired up with two strangers to form a team of three to compete against two other teams of three people to see who can find a suitcase with $100,000 first after being dropped in a remote location. That’s the conceit behind TNT’s new reality competition series, 72 Hours.
The series, hosted by Brandon Johnson, kicked off last week but tonight’s episode, set in New Zealand, features out contestant Michael Holtz, who works in sports marketing but also grew up as a competitive swimmer and won Mr. Gay USA in NYC in 2011.
Holtz talked to me earlier this week about his experience on the show, including how he prepared for the challenges and whether being an out, gay athlete worked for him or against him.

Ray Liotta has had some super spooky roles in his career, but his guest spot on this week's "Ntsf:sd:suv::" on Adult Swim might just be the creepiest.
We've got an exclusive sneak peek at Liotta in the season finale of "Ntsf," titled "Wasilla Hills Cop" (Thurs., Nov. 1, 12:15 a.m. on Adult Swim), which finds Alphonse (Brandon Johnson) going back home to Alaska to find out who murdered his former partner and to make amends with his father, who disowned him for using a cell phone.
The episode guest stars Liotta as mail room guy Jason and "Parks and Recreation" funny lady Aubrey Plaza as The Rememberer. In our sneak peek, above, you can see Jason (Liotta) harassing Sam (Martin Starr) about becoming an Ntsf agent. Why? Because he believes he was trained as a government assassin in 2006, a year he can't remember at all. Watch to see some of...

The Comic-Con 2012 schedule has now been released in full, and barring any major updates, is set. The blessing and curse of being an attendee is deciding which panels/autograph sessions/special events to attend, when they conflict. And they always do.
For you to see for yourself, below are what we are calling the “headliner” panels; those panels that are taking place in Hall H, Ballroom 20, Room 6Bdf, and the just-next-door Hilton Indigo Ballroom, the four major venues for panels. There are descriptions of each panel as well as the show(s) and/or movie(s) they are there to discuss.
See how many conflicts you might have, or how you might arrange time and space to somehow attend these plus spend every day in the vendors’ Exhibit Hall and chasing zombies in the nearby The Walking Dead Escape. By the way, if you figure that out, Please let us know.

Deputies in Broward County, Fla., are coming under fire from a man who says he was shot multiple times by police while he was napping in a car.
The deputies have a different take on the March 8 incident. They say they feared for their lives because Brandon Johnson, 21, of Pompano Beach, Fla., drove his borrowed Toyota Echo at them, Wptv reported.
A complaint affidavit about the incident states that Detective Ron Miller and Detective Andrea Penoyer Tianga, a cast member on the TLC reality TV show "Police Women of Broward County," were patrolling Pompano Beach in an unmarked Chevrolet Tahoe when they observed a "suspicious vehicle" backed into a parking space.
According to the affidavit, the two deputies observed "a black male in the driver's seat" "attempting to duck down in an effort not to be seen." Miller reportedly pulled the SUV in front of Johnson's car "to initiate a...

You've seen the over-the-top promos, you've probably spied a hilarious on-set picture or two and, of course, everyone's familiar with the show's acronym-happy inspirations -- now we'll finally be thrust into the universe of 'Ntsf:sd:suv::' (premieres Thurs., July 21, 12:15Am on Adult Swim).
Originally thought up as a funny interstitial during Adult Swim's late-night programming, the show now follows the adventures of a band of misfits who are at the top of their game when it comes to fighting terrorists. Yes, it's the 'National Terrorism Strike Force: San Diego: Sport Utility Vehicle,' now in 15-minute episode form.
I got to hang out on the show's set with Rebecca Romijn, Martin Starr, June Diane Raphael, Brandon Johnson, Kate Mulgrew and creator and star Paul Scheer, who describes his strike force leader perfectly: "It's like if Michael Bay and Jack Bauer had a baby,...

Brad Pitt's stirring performance in "Tree of Life" has been garnering plenty of buzz around Hollywood, including with the "Teen Wolf" cast. Tyler Hoechlin and Colton Haynes both expressed their excitement at getting to the theater to check out the film. Brandon Johnson of Disney's "Shake It Up!" also dished that "Tree of Life" was one of his favorites already.
"That was a tough one," he says. "Just emotionally. It hit me pretty hard. But amazing and definitely as an audience member it hits you on the subconscious and the conscious level."

The web series American Contestant, starring comedian Bob Odenkirk, hits a beautiful note of absurdity with its lampoon of American Idol. One of the appeals of Idol is, of course, personal backgrounds. Those stories we learn about each singer; their ups and downs in life before making it on a stage alongside Seacrest. Sure it helps if they could sing, but if they do it blind, or right after they share a story about their 80-year old arthritic great Aunt in Florida (who still skateboards!), or even if they just dress strange and refuse to use a comb, we won’t even need that whole “singing” part. You’ve got our vote. (Or not. It’s kinda fixed.) On Contestant a room of judges led by Odenkirk, doing his best faux-British Simon Cowell impersonation, welcome in a new contestant every episode. There is also a hip by half measure black...
