Exclusive: Andy Wilman looks like a man who’s not seen sunlight for a while. Peering down the barrel of a Zoom call, he’s got a touch of man flu after a spell in his editing bunker. Wilman is perpetually “in an edit.” He’s currently honing the final episode of The Grand Tour, but he could just as well be looking at rushes from Clarkson’s Farm Season 4. It is his happy place.
We talk just days after Season 3 has been confirmed as Amazon Prime Video’s highest-rated UK original, sitting acres ahead of lavishly-budgeted series including Fallout and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Not bad for a show in which the centerpiece storyline is the birthing journey of a pig named Baroness. Clarkson’s Farm was, in Wilman’s words, conceived as Clarkson’s “solo album” away from Richard Hammond and James May, but...

TV presenter and award-winning journalist, Richard Hammond and his daughter, Izzy Hammond, will co-host the brand new Global Original and Piffle podcast: Who We Are Now, available to listen to from Tuesday 27th February 2024.
In 2006, Richard Hammond broke his brain. A high-speed jet-powered car he was piloting crashed at 319mph and the thing that stopped the car from rolling? That was his head. Richard spent a few weeks in hospital, having his brain put back together. This life-changing experience gave Richard time to have a long, hard look at his emotional state and mental health. Since then, he's been on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth, leading him to present his first-ever podcast series, Who We Are Now. Listeners will have the opportunity to join Richard on his mission to demystify and destigmatise conversations around masculinity, mental health, and the issues that affect us all to discover Who We Are Now.

French farmers, who are currently blockading Paris with their tractors to protest the economic crisis facing the country’s agricultural sector, have found an unlikely hero in Jeremy Clarkson.
The controversial TV presenter has won praise from the protestors for his Amazon Prime Video Series Clarkson’s Farm, following his attempts to run his Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds, and public backing of British farming.
“We need one of our French celebrities to do the same thing as Jeremy Clarkson in Amazon Prime Series Clarkson’s Farm,” protesting French farmer Robi Leduc told a reporter from the UK’s The Telegraph newspaper.
French farmers say their sector is on the brink of collapse as incomes fall due to rising environmental regulations, red tape and competition from cheaper imports, all issues Clarkson has talked about in his show in relation to British farming.

When the news came out in December that “The Grand Tour” — Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond’s post-“Top Gear” automotive series — would be coming to an end, fans were left wondering why.
But, in a new interview with The Times, Clarkson has delivered a cheeky yet straightforward answer: it’s because he’s “unfit and fat and old.”
Clarkson told The Times that the show “is immensely physical, and when you’re unfit and fat and old, which I am…” He also feels the trio has done just about “everything you can do with a car.”
“I’ve driven cars higher than anyone else and further north than anyone else,” Clarkson said. “We’ve done everything you can do with a car. When we had meetings about what to do next, people just threw their arms in the air.”

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed why it’s the end of the road for The Grand Tour. Clarkson said he and co-hosts, James May and Richard Hammond, decided to quit the Amazon Prime Video show after running out of steam.
In an interview with The Times of London, Clarkson said it was becoming increasingly difficult to conjure up outlandish adventures for the show and that the presenters were all showing their age.
Clarkson, who is 63, said: “I’ve driven cars higher than anyone else and further north than anyone else. We’ve done everything you can do with a car. When we had meetings about what to do next, people just threw their arms in the air.”

James May has left the car door open for a reunion with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond after they park their Prime Video series The Grand Tour for a final time.
During BBC Radio 4’s Today program, which he was guest editing this morning, he responded to a question about the future of the series by saying: “Well, we’ve filmed the last one for now. I suppose that makes me technically unemployed — I can hear the cheers rolling around the country.
“We’ve got two in the bag, though, so there’s one coming out very soon. I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say here. Then [there is] another one coming out a bit after that.”
In November, Clarkson told The Times newspaper that the trio were “done” after 34 years of car review programs. However, Prime Video is yet to officially cancel The Grand Tour, which is among its highest-rating original series.

Amazon Prime Video’s automotive series “The Grand Tour” is not moving forward at the streamer — at least with its current hosts, former “Top Gear” trio Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.
Sources tell Variety that Clarkson, May and Hammond have just returned from filming the show’s final special in Zimbabwe, which will launch at a later date next year and conclude the fifth season. A special set in Mauritania will launch before that, in February. Though options to continue the series with different hosts are being explored, it has not yet been greenlit. The “Grand Tour” news follows the announcement earlier this week that Clarkson’s other show on Amazon Prime Video, “Clarkson’s Farm,” is getting a fourth season.
Clarkson said in a statement to The Times on Thursday, “We’re done. I have reviewed cars on TV since 1989. That’s 34 years. And after next year, I...

After the BBC revealed that “Top Gear” won’t be returning “for the foreseeable future,” former presenter James May has said that the series needs “a bit of a rethink.”
In an interview on the BBC’s “Today” podcast, May — who hosted “Top Gear” alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond for over a decade — said that the show must be revamped whenever it does return.

Former Top Gear host James May has criticized the “car show-erati” who have called for him and his fellow former co-presenters to be reinstated on the hit motoring show since Andrew Flintoff’s crash.
Speaking to the BBC, May said he has been annoyed by “the people who watch car shows and were saying, ‘Well now they’ve done that wrong you can come back in and rescue [Top Gear].“
May referred to these “partisan” Top Gear fans as the “car show-erati.”
“I was just thinking, ‘The bloke has hurt himself very badly in a life-changing way and you could perhaps not use it as an opportunity to be partisan’,” said May of these fans. “You could perhaps say, ‘Rotten bit of luck, get well soon’.”

Top Gear presenter Freddie Flintoff voiced his concerns about safety during filming on the same day as he was injured in a 130mph crash, The Sun newspaper reports.
Former England cricketer Flintoff was badly injured in December 2022 when his open-topped Morgan Super 3 car crashed while filming a segment for the longrunning BBC car show.
The Sun quotes an insider reporting:
“Freddie voiced his worries about the safety of the stunt on set on the day of the accident.
“He questioned whether or not it was Ok, given the vehicle and conditions on the track.
“He was apprehensive before he got behind the wheel and production staff at the track were aware of this.”
Filming was suspended on the 34th series of the show following the accident, and Flintoff has only recently been seen in public, with his facial injuries still visible. He also broke several ribs.

The Mail on Sunday newspaper reports that Top Gear, in all likelihood, will not return to screens following a near-fatal crash involving one of its star presenters, Freddie Flintoff. Following the show being put “on hold” in March, the paper claims that the hit show’s production team has been dismantled.
This follows the departure of two key senior creatives from the team – editorial director Clare Pizey and development producer Chris Payne.
The newspaper reports that BBC sources have confirmed there are no plans to develop a fresh series, and plans to broadcast the most recent series 34 have been shelved.

Nonfiction films can be an incredibly powerful way to get information. Truth is often so subjective that humans tend to believe what their eyes tell them first, which is why documentaries are such an impactful genre of storytelling. Well-made documentaries and docuseries can show beauty and wonder, but can also hold dark and sometimes uncomfortable truths.
Sadly, there is less of this content being made, according to new data from Diesel Labs. Diesel’s numbers indicate that the growth rate in releases of documentary films and series slowed dramatically in 2022. The release volume of such content only grew by 10% last year, as compared to a rate of 126% in 2021. In fact, last year was the only year since 2017 in which the release volume of documentaries did not exceed the previous year’s rate by more than 35%.

Freddie Flintoff has been spotted in public for the first time since his Top Gear crash.
The former cricketer was photographed with his wife four months after he was involved in an accident while filming an episode ofthe BBC show in December.
Flintoff was spotted wearing sunglasses and a bucket hat sitting in the passenger seat of his car. His wife, Rachel Wools Flintoff, was driving.
The photographs were obtained and published by The Sun.
An onlooker told the publication that the athlete was “reading something on his phone and stayed in the car while Rachael popped into a shop”.
They added: “It was good to see him out and about in public, and apparently doing well after what he has been through.”
Flintoff was airlifted to hospital on 13 December last year after crashing while filming a car review at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome, home of the Top Gear test track.

Could I, a normal bloke, run a crystal meth empire? Could I survive on a mysterious, sinister Pacific island? Could I spend years in combat training so I might kill the leader of a zombie army? So much of great TV is about taking ordinary people and exposing them to the crucible of the extraordinary. It permits the audience to analyse and hypothesise about their own suitability for the task – and no show of recent years has done this with greater panache than Clarkson’s Farm. Could you artificially inseminate a heifer?
“There have been a few changes,” Jeremy Clarkson, the proprietor of the Diddly Squat Farm announces in the opening monologue to this, the second series of his self-titled Amazon Prime show. The “ruinously expensive” sheep are gone, the durum wheat is flourishing, and the farm shop has created so much traffic that locals apparently can’t get to their Covid vaccinations.

Outrage was more than justified. People had a right to be appalled when The Sun published Jeremy Clarkson’s now-infamous newspaper column about Meghan Markle on 16 December. The former Top Gear presenter was shockingly, almost inexplicably vitriolic in his words, writing that he hated the Duchess of Sussex “on a cellular level” and dreamed of her being “made to parade naked through the streets” while crowds pelted her with excrement. Even within a right-wing media climate in which Meghan is routinely treated as a despised bogeyman – a reputation rooted plainly in racism – Clarkson’s words were far beyond the pale. We should all be revolted. But no one had a right to be surprised.
Yesterday Clarkson came out with a tail-between-his-legs letter of contrition, describing his remarks as “disgraceful” and stating that he was “profoundly sorry”. He claimed to have emailed Prince Harry and Meghan on Christmas Day, apologising for...

Top Gear host and former cricketer Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff was injured in an accident this week while filming the BBC show on its test track at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey, England. Flintoff received medical care at the scene and was airlifted to a hospital for further treatment.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, the BBC reported. More details are expected “in due course,” a spokeperson said while a source told The Sun Flintoff was not driving at high speed.

Jeremy Clarkson has opened up about the “alarming” car accident that occurred while filming the latest episode of The Grand Tour.
It was reported earlier this year that James May, who stars in the Prime Video motoring series alongside Clarkson and Richard Hammond, had been “rushed to hospital” after crashing his car in Norway.
The trio were in the country to film segments for their latest one-off special, The Ground Tour: A Scandi Flick.
In an essay for The Sunday Times, Clarkson discussed the crash in detail.
“In the latest episode of The Grand Tour there’s a big and alarming crash,” he wrote.
“There’s always a big and alarming crash in The Grand Tour of course, but this one was different because the person who was gingerly lifted from the wreckage by paramedics and carefully driven to hospital in the back of an ambulance was not Richard Hammond.

Hammond is helming Richard Hammond’s Crazy Contraptions from All3Media-backed UK indie Optomen, in which engineering enthusiasts from around the UK must battle to create the most ingenious contraptions using everyday objects.
While adding a Robot Wars-style competitive element, the commission represents something of a comeback for the popular science format. Shows such as Sky’s Brainiac: Science Abuse, which Hammond presented, have been few and far between of late.
Deadline understands Crazy Contraptions is being lined up for a family-friendly Sunday afternoon/evening slot.

Exclusive: Discovery UK & Nordics Boss James Gibbons has talked up the potential BT Sport Jv as being an effective marketing tool for the media company’s deep content catalog, allowing subs to “come for the sport, stay for the rest.”
Unveiled earlier this month with exclusive discussions currently taking place pending regulatory approval, Gibbons didn’t give much away about the surprise Jv, which came just days after Dazn was expected to complete on a BT Sport deal, but he teased the approach.
“There are viewers who come for the sport itself and there’s a second type of viewer who comes for the sport and stays on for the rest of the content,” he said, speaking after Discovery’s full-year results showed 22M subs to two-year-old streamer Discovery+.
“Both are important and when you put them together, the whole becomes more than the sum of its parts.”

Discovery+ has greenlit its first series with Richard Hammond, in which The Grand Tour star will set up a classic car restoration workshop near his home in Herefordshire, UK.
Producer by Hammond’s Chimp Television and financier Krempelwood, Richard Hammond’s Workshop (working title) will follow the motoring enthusiast as he builds his business with the support of locals, including father and son team, Neil and Anthony Greenhouse, who run the garage.
Alongside barn finds, prestige cars, and restored classics, the team will also work on Richard’s own extensive collection of cars and bikes. Along the way, Hammond will delve into the history of Jensen Motors, the car manufacturer that once employed his grandfather.
Hammond said: “I’ve spent 25 years critiquing other people’s cars and now I’m putting my own work out there. My grandfather was an automotive craftsman, who knows, maybe I’ve inherited some of his skill!

Top Gear presenters Freddie Flintoff, Chris Harris, and Paddy McGuinness are planning a big American road trip after being forced to film Season 30 of the motoring show entirely in the UK amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
Ambitious overseas trips have become Top Gear’s signature over the years, but the pandemic has changed all of that, and BBC Studios producers have had to be creative about finding locations closer to home. It’s a tricky balance between getting the show made and keeping its epic feel for BBC One and BBC America.
Over a truncated four-episode season, the hosts — who have been credited with rejuvenating Top Gear following Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May’s exit six years ago — head to the Scottish highlands (coincidentally the location for Amazon’s next Grand Tour special), the Lake District, Cotswolds, and Wiltshire’s Raf Lyneham.

Sabine Schmitz, “Top Gear” presenter and race car driver known as the “Queen of the Nürburgring,” has died. She was 51.
In 2020, Schmitz revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer in late 2017.
Schmitz, who first made a splash on the popular British driving series in 2004 when she drove a van around the Nürburgring track, became a presenter on the program a dozen years later. She was the woman for the task, having won Germany’s challenging 14-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife in both 1996 and 1997.
This Sunday’s episode of “Top Gear” will be dedicated to Schmitz, the BBC said on Wednesday.
“Sabine was a beloved member of the ‘Top Gear’ family and presenting team since 2016, having first appeared on the show in 2004, and everyone who had the pleasure of working with her on the team is in shock at this news,” executive producer Clare Pizey said. “Sabine radiated positivity, always wore her...
