Sarfaraz, the wicketkeeper-batter, retired hurt after scoring 14 runs off 22 balls. Pcb added that match referee David Boon accepted the Pakistan team management’s request for the substitution and he remains under the observation of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical panel.

Karachi, Jan 6 (Ians) Continuing the golden run since his comeback, Sarfaraz Ahmed on Friday hit a brilliant century to help Pakistan eke out a draw against New Zealand in the thrilling second and final Test and he rated his fourth innings hundred at his ‘best’.
Away from Test cricket for three years, 35-year-old Sarfaraz made a successful comeback in the Test series against New Zealand, smashing four successive fifty-plus scores, including his first Test century in nine years on the final day of the series.
Hailing it as his “best” knock, Sarfaraz described the ton as a special one.
“This was a fourth-innings hundred and in the fourth innings, it is not easy to bat anywhere in the world. So I think this is my best hundred,” Sarfaraz was quoted as saying by Icc.
The former Pakistan skipper had hit three Test centuries in 2014, but hasn’t made another since in nine years.

Pakistan were 304-9 and needed just 15 runs to win the second Test when the play was called off due to bad light. For the second time in their Test history, Pakistan drew a Test match with just one wicket remaining.

With light fading in Karachi on day five, all four results were still on the cards and Sarfaraz made his first Test century (118) in nine years to keep Pakistan in the hunt after New Zealand had them at 0/2 at stumps on day four.

Karachi, Dec 24 (Ians) Pakistan on Saturday added Mir Hamza, Sajid Khan and Shahnawaz Dahani to their Test squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand, which begins on Monday.
The addition comes on the back of a discussion by the Men’s Interim Selection Committee, chaired by former all-rounder Shahid Afridi and joined by Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
“We had a good discussion on the squad and agreed we needed to strengthen our bowling department to give ourselves the best chance of taking 20 wickets in a match,” Afridi said
“Taking into consideration recent form and performances, we have added fast bowlers Mir Hamza and Shahnawaz Dahani, and off-spinner Sajid Khan. Karachi, Dec 21 (Ians) Fast bowler Hasan Ali earned a call-up to Pakistan’s Test squad to face New Zealand in a two-match series, starting from December 26. Apart from him, uncapped middle-order batter Kamran Ghulam has been included in the squad.

Hasan played last of his 21 Test matches for Pakistan against Sri Lanka at Galle in July this year but was dropped for the England series, which the Babar Azam-led side recently lost 3-0 at home. Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria lashed out at Babar Azam for his poor batting and captaincy during the ongoing Test series against England, saying no player in the present Pakistan batting line-up should be compared to the likes of India greats Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Kaneria’s comment came amid the ongoing third Test between Pakistan and England in Karachi where the tourists need 55 runs more, with eight wickets in hand, to inflict a horror whitewash against the Babar-led side on home soil.
“People should stop comparing Babar Azam to Virat Kohli. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are very big players. Pakistan have nobody in their team who can be compared to them. If you make them talk, they will be a king. When you ask them to produce results, they’ll be zero,” he said to his YouTube channel.
Kaneria further slammed Babar’s leadership skill in the Test series.

Also returning to the T20I squad are Mohammed Hafeez and Shadab Khan, who will take over as vice-captain.
