A revival of classic cult series The Prisoner has cast its new Number Six.
Big Finish - producers of audio drama based on Doctor Who, The Avengers and Blake's 7 - have hired Mark Elstob as the lead for their new series.
Elstob is best known for his stage work, though soap fans will remember his role as Andrew Fraser on Emmerdale from 2001-2002.
The Prisoner originally starred Patrick McGoohan as a former spy trapped in a peculiar - and sinister - village. Robbed of his identity, McGoohan's character was known only as 'Number Six'.
"I knew, of course, that the casting of Number Six was pivotal," said Nicholas Briggs - writer, director and producer on the audio revival. "Patrick McGoohan was the driving force of the original series, both on and off-screen. The new central performance would have to be every bit as powerful in its own way."
Briggs called Elstob "a brilliant,...

In the latest chapter of its ‘Hello Beers’ series, Carlton Dry has launched an outdoor campaign to show what can happen when men get together for a beer.
“Ever decided to make a jacket out of toast? Perhaps you thought a beard made from laundry pegs would complete your look? No? Me neither. Luckily though, the photographers we worked with on this project did,” said Andy Meldrum, General Manager for Marketing Carlton Dry “The ads are random, hopefully funny and frankly kind of ridiculous… but that’s what Carlton Dry has always been about, and our drinkers seem to like it.”
Carlton Dry will have a presence at music festivals including Stereosonic, Southbound, Soundwave, Big Day Out and Future Music Festival.

The 1980s is a vivid era in many people.s memories . shoulder pads, big hair, and acid-wash jeans among them. Recapturing that flavour has its own particular challenge when technology adds its own distortions to the prism of memory.
TV1 crime series Killing Time successfully navigated the three-decade journey by taking an unconventional path.
.People don.t tend to shoot drama these days on film and it was a chance to strike out a different look really,. cinematographer Martin McGrath Acs says of his choice to shoot Super 16 rather than digital.
.You.ve got to admit too, in the back of our minds . even though it wasn.t often expressed . was that Underbelly was out there and it.s completely blanketed that genre to a degree. We just tried to clutch for something that would give us a bit of an edge, something visually arresting and something that set it apart.

Channel Seven has picked up Fremantle Media’s drama Killing Time. The 10-part series starring David Wenham previously ran on Foxtel’s TV1.The announcement:
Channel Seven will soon air the award-winning crime drama Killing Time, starring David Wenham.
Killing Time is the true story of the rise and fall of notorious Melbourne criminal defence lawyer Andrew Fraser. His clients ranged from accused cop killers to the rich and famous including international businessman Alan Bond.
At the top of his game, Fraser commanded a huge salary and lived the dream. But when his cocaine addiction spiralled into a thousand dollar-a-day habit, his judgment became unsound and he crossed the line into the criminal milieu. He was disbarred, discredited, broken financially and his marriage was destroyed.
Caged amongst serial killers and psychopaths, Fraser is forced to reflect on where it all went so wrong, and try to salvage his shattered reputation.

A feature film about Jessica Watson's solo, around-the-world sailing adventure will be filmed early next year.
True Spirit will recount Watson's story as the youngest person, at just 16 years of age, to sail solo around the world non-stop and unassisted in 2010. However she said the film will delve into more than her solo voyage, which lasted several months.
.There.s so much more to the story than that, you know, the drama I went through before I left, hitting the ship, the personal side of it and the relationships amongst the team that got me there,. she told If Magazine. .There.s a lot of stories and certainly there was a long period of time at sea by myself but what people don.t realise is that was a small part of the story..
The role of Watson has yet to be cast although she will have some input...

Controversial TV1 series Killing Time is finally coming to Australian television. Originally earmarked to screen in September last year, the series was famously delayed because of proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria. The hard-hitting 10-part drama tells the story of fallen, former criminal lawyer Andrew Fraser who, at one stage, seemed untouchable as he represented the famous and .notorious. . including feared criminal Dennis Allen and fallen businessman Alan Bond. Fraser made a fortune out of the Melbourne underworld and eventually joined them when cocaine started to take over his life. He was jailed for five years in 2001 on drug offences. However only the first six episodes of TV1's biggest local production will initially screen from early November...
