Media Mogul Elisabeth Murdoch is backing a startup VFX company, BeloFX, which has been founded in Canada and the UK by a group of experienced executives.
The company’s founders are former senior executives at VFX powerhouse Dneg: Matt Holben and Alex Hope, two of Dneg’s founders, Ellen Walder, former COO at Dneg, and Graham Jack, former Cto at Dneg. It will be based in British Columbia, Quebec, and the UK.
They are joined by Hannah Cook (Director of Operations) and Matt Plummer (Managing Director for VFX), who will lead the VFX team alongside supervisor Joel Green. Mike Brazelton also joins as supervisor in early 2022.
The company said it is on the lookout for creative candidates from diverse backgrounds to join them as they seek to build a multi-national team across the UK and Canada.

Exclusive: Interstellar and First Man VFX firm Dneg has appointed Paul Salvini as Global Chief Technology Officer.
Salvini will be responsible for “developing a new and innovative technology vision for the company”, managing its global technology and R&d teams and overseeing technology initiatives across all of its key strands: visual effects for film and episodic content, feature animation, stereo conversion, virtual production and its ReDefine division.
Outgoing Cto Graham Jack, who has been with the company since 2002, is said to be assisting with the transition.
Dneg, which operates in the U.S., UK, India and Canada, employs more than 7,000 people.

Although the spine of Len Wiseman's Total Recall is quite similar to Paul Verhoeven's 1990 movie, it's very different from a visual standpoint. Where Verhoeven's film imagined a brightly-lit, 'neo-brutalist' future of concrete and glass, Wiseman's movie is an amalgam of decaying cities on one side of the planet, and shiny buildings and hover cars on the other.
Aside from its numerous futuristic vehicles and exotic gadgets, Total Recall 2012 is memorable for the Fall - a gigantic elevator which takes citizens from one side of the planet to the other.
