The Episode | “Bats–t” (July 9, 2017)
The Performance | Picking a favorite member of Claws‘ terrific ensemble of actresses is like picking a favorite shade of nail polish. (They’re all so good!) But this week, it was Preston’s turn to shine and sparkle, as Polly dropped the sweet-as-sugar act and got downright scary on us.
Normally, Polly’s all smiles and sunshine, but that ankle monitor of hers reminds us she’s not as squeaky-clean as she seems. Preston happily delved into Polly’s dark side as the ex-con ambushed Virginia in her home,...

Cooper Huckabee might not be a household name, but I guarantee you would recognize the veteran character actor if you saw him. He’s usually playing the grizzled old villain in things like HBO’s True Blood and TNT’s Major Crimes nowadays, but it wasn’t always that way. Way back in 1981, Cooper Huckabee got a chance to play the muscular male star, Buzz, in Tobe Hooper’s horror classic The Funhouse. Not only is Huckabee one of the kindest and most gracious actors to ever grace the screen, but his role in the cult classic film also caught the eye of Quentin Tarantino, landing him a gig in the director’s upcoming film Django Unchained.
With Shout! Factory’s Collector’s Edition Blu-ray of The Funhouse hitting stores on October 16, FEARnet sat down with the actor to discuss his fond memories of the film, his role on True Blood,...

TNT’s Leverage swings back into action tonight at 8/7c, in a new (yet not new) locale. Coming off the events of Season 4′s finale, Nate’s team bid Beantown adieu and set up shop in Portland – aka the city where the caper drama has filmed all these years. Also new: Hardison and Parker are “out” with their romance, so we thought it a good time to chat up Aldis Hodge about that fun dynamic. Plus: Why Leverage‘s master hacker wants to suit up as a certain Marvel hero.

The SAG Awards are here! It's a night to honor the actors who bring films to life with their great performances - performances that make us laugh, cry, and cringe at times.
Colin Firth is expected to win in the best acting category for his magnificent performance in The King's Speech. Bale is likely going to win best supporting actor for his role in The Fighter.
Of course, in the best actress category, Natalie Portman is favored to win for her chilling performance in Black Swan.
It would be surprising if any of these actors don't actually take home the trophy for their iconic performances.
It's interesting to note that all of last year's winners - Jeff Bridges for "Crazy Heart," Sandra Bullock for "The Blind Side," Mo'nique for "Precious" and Christoph Waltz for "Inglourious Basterds" — went on to win at the Oscars.
Could be a good indicator for the Oscars this year too.

Too bad the last Desperate Housewives before February sweeps aired alongside the much-hyped Golden Globe Awards, because there were some decent turn of events that transpired in the hour.
It All Becomes Clear…
Zach Young’s reappearance last week still had a ripple effect in the ‘Who Shot Paul Young?’ mystery when Paul realized that the gun planted in Bree’s house (and the one used to shoot him) was none other than the gun Mary Alice shot herself with in the pilot episode. Why I didn’t correlate the two last week is beyond me, but I think it’s safe to name Zach Young the gunman in this mystery. I stress the word ‘think.’
It’s pretty interesting how the Paul Young mystery turned out this year so far. Instead of having Paul slowly plot revenge throughout the season, he’s implemented his plan, got shot because of it,...

Today the nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was released. The King’s Speech and The Fighter received the most nominations, with four each. Thankfully the Guild seems to know what they are doing unlike The Golden Globes who pretty much screwed up all the nominations.
The nominees here are usually a very strong indication of how the acting award nominees will play out at the Oscars. King’s Speech has long been an Oscar favourite, but David O. Russell’s The Fighter has gained considerable steam in the past few weeks. Last year, 19 out of 20 SAG nominees went to the Oscars as well so you can be sure that The Fighter and King’s Speech will get a best picture nomination. The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on January 20th. See the complete list below.

The Screen Acors Guild has released their award nominations for their upcoming 17th annual award ceremony, which will take place on January 30, 2011.
There are some great nominations here. My favorite picks include Christian Bale for his role in The Fighter, Natalie Portman in her role in Black Swan, and Jesse Eisenberg for his role in The Social Network. As much as I love most of these films, I'm surprised that Inception is no where to be seen. That was one of the best films of the year and it seems to be escaping a lot of the nominations in all the award ceremonies this year.
Check out the list of Film and TV nominations below and tell us what your favorite are!

Okay, totally kidding about the Colfer Lifetime Achievement Award thing - that will be going to Ernest Borgnine. But does it seem to you that the kid who plays Kurt Hummel is getting an awful lot of awards season love? (And wouldn't McHale's Navy have been so much better with him in it?)
The latest outpouring of Colfer acclaim comes from the Screen Actors Guild who announced their 17th annual SAG nominees this morning.
The Glee cast is up for a comedy ensemble award, but Colfer was the only cast member other than Jane Lynch to be recognized individually. And given who he's up against he's almost certain to be the frontrunner!
Another bit of good news for a Glbt favorite, The Kids Are All Right, scored individual acting nods for Annete Bening, Mark Rufallo, and also a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast.

The complete list of nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards follows below. The ceremony will be held on January 30th, 2011.
Nothing really to highlight here, unfortunately. SAG voters apparently didn’t care for Halle Berry’s performance as much as the Golden Globes did, because she’s not on this list. And neither is Idris Elba, who was also nominated for a Golden Globe. The cast of For Colored Girls got no love either.
The significance here is that SAG nominees and winners are voted on by members of the union – essentially, their peers.
But one thing that should be obvious by now is that the Oscar race is going to come down to 4 films and the performances in those films: The Social Network, Black Swan, The King’s Speech, and The Fighter. I still have to see the last 2.

Question: I absolutely love The Closer! It's one of my favorite shows and I am always so eager to watch that I usually don't even wait for my DVR to get ahead enough to allow me to skip commercials. This season started off with a bang and I've loved it, but I'm a little concerned. What will happen if Brenda does become chief? On one hand, as a woman, I think it would be great for the character to be a female Chief of Police in Los Angeles. On the other hand, I am afraid for what that would mean for her position as a "closer." If she gets some distance from the cases, how can she possibly get all of those confessions that have the audience on the edge of their seats?...

TNT’s Leverage is a phenomenon. I can say that because the show was announced as appearing at Comic-Con only five days before the convention and the cast still appeared to a huge crowd. After the fact, series co-creator Chris Downey, along with cast members Timothy Hutton (Nate), Beth Riesgraf (Parker), Christian Kane (Eliot) and Aldis Hodge (Hardison), as well as guest star Wil Wheaton (Chaos), dropped in to discuss…well, just about everything!
Timothy Hutton (Nate Ford) & Beth Riesgraf (Parker)
Leverage is still such a fascinating show three seasons in. How do you keep things at that high level?
Tim: The scripts are what keep it fresh. We like the writing so much and the characters that we’re playing. There are so many possibilities for cons that we can do. We read the scripts and we all talk after. This show, every time we set out to do one,...

If you aren’t watching Leverage, the modern Robin Hood show on TNT, you’re really missing out. Putting more fun and adventure into the con game every week, and providing a good mix of criminal comeuppance and character, the show is getting better and better.
I don’t know about you, but Eliot is definitely one of my favorites on the show, and Christian Kane took part in a Q & A recently. With not only several film and television titles under his belt, but also a blossoming singing career, Christian has a very interesting, multi-faceted guy, and the interview resulted in quite the exchange.
Before you get too wrapped up in the interview, check out his single. You’ll be glad you did.

Adapted from his book Engage, Brian Solis presents his list of suggestions to help businesses learn how to engage customers on Twitter through the examples of those companies, from Dell to Zappos, already successfully building online communities.
Number 1. Special Offers
We live in a society that is as distracted as it is informed. People are making decisions on what to read, view, purchase, visit, and sample based on the information that filters through their attention dashboards. At best, even the most qualified information sourced from the most trusted contacts will receive only a cursory overview. The trick is to concisely introduce the value up front. If the offer is compelling and affiliated with their interests, the consumer will make the connection to personal value and benefits and click-through to redeem the special or coupon when ready or so inclined.
For example, @delloutlet uses Twitter and Facebook to send coupons to customers.

A joke should have the perfection of a haiku. Not one extra word. No wrong words. It should seem to have been discovered in its absolute form rather than created. The weight of the meaning should be at the end. The earlier words should prepare for the shift of the meaning. The ending must have absolute finality. It should present a world view only revealed at the last moment. Like knife-throwing, joke-telling should never be practiced except by experts.
For many laymen, a joke is a heavenly gift allowing them to monopolize your attention although they lack all ability as an entertainer. You can tell this because they start off grinning and grin the whole way through. They're so pleased with themselves. Their grins are telling you they're funny and their joke is funny. The expert knows not to betray the slightest emotion. The expert is reciting a fact. There...

Chicago – TNT’s “The Closer” has an easy-going charm that rarely gets the critical praise it deserves but has turned the show into one of the most highly rated scripted program on basic cable. “The Closer” beats most network programs and is, cable or not, one of the bigger hits on TV. The mid-season premiere, “Good Faith,” airing Monday, January 26th, 2009, makes it easy to see why.

What separates “The Closer” from a lot of similar programming is the ease with which the writers smoothly segue between family humor and grisly murder. The kind of tonal juggling that can make a wedding cake tasting at a precinct while they discuss the latest case both believable and humorous is harder to pull off than it looks.
