Dave Holmes, the ex-manager of the British rock band Coldplay, has sued the band for £10 million ($12.3 million) he believes he is contractually owed for two unreleased Coldplay albums.
Holmes left as Coldplay’s band manager in August 2022 after working with them for 22 years.
The band is currently being managed by Phil Harvey, Mandi Frost and Arlene Moon, who have worked with Holmes and the band previously.
Holmes filed a claim to the High Court of Justice, alleging that the band had backed out on a promised contract for their tenth and eleventh albums. It was agreed in the contract that the manager would be paid a commission.
Additionally, Holmes declared that the band had attempted to demote him from manager to head of touring.
In response, the band members, Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion, filed a counterclaim in the High Court, which declared that Holmes had...

The golden age of the rock documentary faded out a long time ago. It’s now rare to see a concert film or a backstage pop portrait that attains the status of an event, like “Woodstock” or “Stop Making Sense” or “Truth or Dare.” But the form has never gone away. In a sense, it’s now everywhere: on streaming services and music channels, folded into album packages, a perpetual deluge of performance and home-movie snapshot geared to the insatiability of fans. In that light, the relevant question for any rock doc is whether it’s a compelling slice of artistry or a glorified piece of marketing.
“Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams,” which played one night in theaters in 70 nations, where it grossed $3.5 million, and is now available on Amazon Prime, walks the line between those two possibilities. The film takes its title from Coldplay’s most recent album,...

Here’s a Coldplay documentary so charming and sincere that it will make you feel bad about mocking the band’s music for the last 16 years. Mat Whitecross’ “Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams” is more than just a look inside the third-highest grossing concert tour in history, or an intimate portrait of one of the 21st century’s most successful rock bands; it’s also an infectiously upbeat biography of four blessed friends, who conquered the world on the strength of their belief in themselves and each other. In other words, this feature-length victory lap should be utterly insufferable from start to finish. It isn’t.
At a time when the world feels like it’s resting on the edge of a knife, there’s precious little patience for a movie about handsome nerds who meet in college, get rich and famous in their early 20s, and then steadily...

After following Coldplay around with a camera for 20 years, the footage Mat Whitecross carefully compiled of the beloved British band is finally about to have an audience. The documentary film “Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams” will screen for one night only in theaters around the world on Nov. 14, before debuting on Amazon Prime Video on Friday the 16th. (Watch a snippet from the film in the video above.)
“I don’t think those four obviously could possibly have imagined what was going to happen to them,” Whitecross says of the band’s humble beginnings at University College of London, where Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion first met. Some of the earliest pre-Coldplay jams — when the band tried on other names for size, like Starfish — were captured on tape. “I was always filming everyone,” says Whitecross. “Gradually I think they just got used to me being around.

If you've seen Crazy Rich Asians, then chances are you've fallen just as hard in love with the film's soundtrack as Nick falls for Rachel. From a truly stunning cover of "Can't Help Falling in Love" to an upbeat love song from Miguel, the music featured deserves to be at the top of all your playlists. That's why you might be surprised to discover that the song in the rom-com's final, beautiful moments almost didn't make the cut.
At the end of the film, emotions are running high as Rachel (Constance Wu) considers her departure from Singapore, as her estranged boyfriend, Nick (Henry Golding), struggles with his relationship with his demanding mother, Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh). There's also the matter of Astrid (Gemma Chan) and her own romantic woes (which luckily get a lift in the adorable midcredits scene). Director John M. Chu had the perfect song in mind to capture...

Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu has shared the note he sent Coldplay requesting the licensing rights for their 2000 hit “Yellow.”
Coldplay initially rejected Chu’s request, and the film’s studio Warner Bros. remained concerned that the song’s title and placement in the romantic comedy would be problematic (yellow is a derogatory term against Asians), but Chu wanted to use the song to reclaim the word. “We’re going to own that term,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “If we’re going to be called yellow, we...

In a since-deleted Instagram post, she accidentally referred to the Left Shark of this year's Super Bowl (a.k.a. Coldplay) as Maroon 5, brilliantly summing up the state of rock in one hilarious snafu. But let Taraji tell it, and this was the devil's work — that little red devil named Kool-Aid. Adding to the plethora of marvelous new music as of late, Beyoncé Knowles has a new single called “Hymn For The Weekend,” a collaboration with the boys in Coldplay.
The new track first leaked on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show on Monday night (November 30) and now it’s all over the internet.
Coldplay bass player Guy Berryman explained, “Well we had a song idea. It actually started off being quite a different kind of vibe, this song. The time has finally come to hear one of music's biggest collaborations come to life. After much anticipation, Beyoncé and Chris Martin have released their duet titled "Hymn for the Weekend" that delivers lyrics and beats you won't be able to get out of your head. Described as a gospel-infused party jam, the single first premiered on Annie Mac's BBC show in London Monday morning to the delight of many music fans. The track is expected to appear on Coldplay's new album out this Friday. As for how the collaboration came about, the story is quite impressive. You might've thought they were bluffing, but Coldplay really did get Beyoncé on their new album (out Friday), and here's the new song to prove it. The band premiered "Hymn for the Weekend" on Annie Mac's BBC show, and if you were expecting a gospel-infused party jam, you're in luck! "The original words were 'drinks on me,' but we were like, 'Chris, you can't get away with that,'" bassist Guy Berryman explains. So, instead, they had Beyoncé sound like a one-woman symphony channeling the child of destiny to sing "so drink from me, drink from me when I was so thirsty" and other heavenly, nonsensical things. It's like if "Drunk in Love" were reimagined for Sunday service, so there's no telling what they had Blue Ivy do.

Australian Coldplay fans were in for a treat today (June 17) as Chris Martin and the boys headed to King Street Newtown to shoot their music video for “A Sky Full of Stars.”
Joined by Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion, Mr. Martin paraded around in a funky getup and even showed off his toned arms in a grey tank top.
Manager Paul Harvey shared that he definitely didn’t think so many (250+) loyal followers would show up for the shoot, which he tweeted about on Monday night (June 16).
“When I sent out the tweet last night I thought maybe 20 or 30 people would turn up. We love Sydney, we love Australia. I used to live in Melbourne. When we knew that Sydney was on our little routes in our promo tour we said that's the spot where we want to do our shoot.”

A few days ago, Us magazine revealed a note written by Lindsay Lohan that list thirty six high-profile men that the actress has slept with. The magazine blurred out some of the names in order to protect some of these men, who are married. But now, the names are coming out and we have the majority of them below. The note was written at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where Lindsay was hanging out with friends. "They were giggling and talking sh*t about people in the industry," said the magazine. "It was her personal conquest list. She was trying to impress her friends with the list and then tossed it aside." Many actors on the list are now being asked about the list. Many are avoiding the topic, worried that the list will damage their current relationships. Linsday Lohan's List: * Ashton Kutcher (actor) * Orlando Bloom (actor) * Ryan Phillippe (actor) * Benicio del Toro...

This year’s Golden Globes ceremony took place earlier this evening, January 12, with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey back as hosts. (Here are our fearless — and somewhat accurate — Golden Globes 2014 Predictions and our equally fearless — and mostly accurate — 2014 Golden Globes Predictions - The Nominations.) The 2014 Golden Globe nominations were announced by Aziz Ansari, Zoe Saldana, and Olivia Wilde exactly one month ago. Among the surprises was the inclusion in the Best Picture - Drama category of Ron Howard’s domestic box office disappointment Rush, starring Chris Hemsworth and Best Supporting Golden Globe nominee Daniel Brühl, and the exclusion of The Wolf of Wall Street‘s Martin Scorsese from the Best Director roster. Also, Julie Delpy and Greta Gerwig were both in the running...

The awards season is in full swing, with nominations and awards already coming in left, right, and centre. To add to the momentum driving towards the Oscars next year, the 71st Golden Globe Awards Nominations have been announced, with 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, and Inside Llewyn Davis leading in the motion picture categories, and Breaking Bad, House of Cards, and Behind the Candelabra leading on the small screen side of the nominees.
Unlike the Oscars, the Golden Globes separate the majority of their categories according to genre, with one category for drama and another for comedy and musical. In one sense, that makes it a little harder to use the winners, announced next month, to predict what might go on to take the statues at the Academy Awards.
Last year, for instance, Argo took home the Golden Globe in the Best Motion Picture – Drama category, and Les Misérables won...

Coldplay is clearly taking a hiatus as the last two days have seen two members of the band forging out with new solo projects.
First came word that Coldplay's drummer, Will Champion, had landed a role in Game of Thrones' third season and today brings new music from Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman's side project, Apparatjik.

The group, formed in 2008, just released their third album titled If You Can, Solve This Jumble, featuring Lowell singing lead. Apparatjik places a heavy emphasis on visuals as well as vocals, which has fueled some beautiful if batty music videos.

-- Adele is the rare star that doesn't need multiple magazine covers, a cosmetics contract or a clothing line to sell albums. She does it all based on the strength of that sumptuous voice and those stirring songs.
That's a rarity in today's pop world, where artists are overexposed and their music often comes second to what they're promoting in tandem with it.
Adele scored an unlikely critical and commercial triumph with "21," last year's best-selling album, all based off the artistry of songs like "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You." And she'll be richly rewarded come Sunday, when the Grammys hand out their trophies at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. While Kanye West is the lead nominee with seven, Adele, who's up for six, will be the act who dominates – well, at least that's what We think.
