NEW DELHI -- News Corp.'s Star TV will launch its new Bollywood movie channel, Star Gold, on Singapore's StarHub Digital Cable service Oct. 4, the company said Tuesday.
The channel extends the network's existing offerings in the city-state, including Hindi entertainment channel Star Plus and South Indian-language outlet Vijay.
Star Gold's Singapore launch makes it the only dedicated Bollywood channel in that market.
"We are excited to expand the reach of Star Gold from India to Singapore. This launch enriches Star's offerings of top programming choices in Singapore and enables the local audience to experience a new league of top-flight Bollywood blockbusters," Star vp distribution and marketing Gautam Kiyawat said.
At launch, Star Gold will showcase such titles such as "Baabul" (Father of the Bride) and recent releases including "Shootout at Lokhandwala" and "Red", among others.
"With its rich and diverse Bollywood film library, we are confident that Star Gold will appeal to viewers yearning for highly popular Hindi movie entertainment," StarHub vp cable TV services Patrick Lim said.
