Who will win big at the Oscars?Tomorrow morning the Oscar nominations will be revealed at 5:30 a.m. Pst / 8:30 a.m. Est / 1:30 p.m. GMT / 9:30 p.m. Cst. With just one day left, it’s time for the members of the Film Experience team to make their final predictions, as Nathaniel did the other day.
It’s going to be a tight race for most nominations between our frontrunners - Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, Barbie and Poor Things. All have the possibility to get over 10 nominations each. Will the Oscars default for its Best Picture nominees across the board, or will we get some interesting shockers up and down the ballot?

The novel The Woman in Black recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. Released in Fall of 1983, The Woman in Black has become a much loved and much reimagined story. During its history it has been adapted into a TV movie, Hollywood film – with sequel, radio play and theatre production – which was the 2nd longest run of any play in London’s history. The apparition of The Woman in Black has taken many impressive shapes. What’s more impressive is that: the author, Susan Hill had never had a ghost story published prior to this one; the theatre adaptation was penned by a soap opera writer; and the first performance took place in a canteen - possibly a pub - in the northern coastal town of Scarborough (which is some 20 miles away from Dracula’s Whitby).

For today's Oscar volley, Eurocheese and Nathaniel discuss Best Original Score.
Editor's Note: This conversation began before the finalist list for Original Score was announced on December 21st but we thought we'd share as is, given what was said!
Eurocheese: Nathaniel, I'm excited to discuss this with you! I left theaters several times this year thinking, I need to look that music up when I get home. It's always fun to connect which previous films come from the same composers as well. I expect we'll see both familiar and new faces in the line up this year.
Oppenheimer's epic soundscape comes from Ludwig Göransson, recent Oscar winner for his work on Black Panther (and a nominee for its sequel), He will no doubt score his third nomination for the orchestral nuance he brings, especially standing out in the film's quieter scenes. If I had my say, though, this award would...

Season one of “Single Drunk Female” ended with Sam breaking up with James after he lied about his sobriety. He indulged in drinking soon after he and Sam got into a relationship. Maybe it was the stress of the relationship or finally getting with Sam that was too much for him to take. She cannot stand to be with him. Brit, on the other hand, walked out of her wedding right after the ceremony, and she sought Sam because she was the only one who could be honest with her. Felicia ends up having a good time on the date that Peter sets up with Brit, who is a doctor, and he finds her adorable. What would Sam choose to do from here on? Will she stay in the city or live with her mother and her boyfriend, Bob, for a long period of time?

Team Experience has been pairing or tripling up to discuss the Oscar categories. Here's the (presumed) final award of Sunday night with Elisa Giudici, Nathaniel R, and Eric Blume...
Nathaniel: Hello team. The final category. Best Picture is such a big big topic, 1434 minutes big. Or 24 and a half hours big if you wanted to watch all the films back to back... though, really, why would you? That's a lot of movie and it's also a lot of Movie-Movie since these mostly aren't shy and self-effacing films. With the exception of Women Talking, if all of these movies were at a party together they'd each try to be the life of it. Or at least life-adjacent. Banshees of Inisherin might just gab away in a corner and The Fabelmans might just watch everyone / everything... but quite enthusiastically!
I picture Avatar The Way of Water arriving first, because it can't...
