10. Jack Shephard from Lost
Sometimes, in an attempt to give a character some personality flaws, writers outdo themselves and turn an initially likable character into an obnoxious one. Lost’s Jack Shephard is a prime example: while he’s supposed to be a hero, what he really is is a frustratingly entitled manchild who just can’t quit whining for the life of him.
9. Rita Bennett from Dexter
For many people, overly dramatic characters have always been a bane of any show they were in, and we totally get it. Dexter is great, but Rita Bennett’s whiny drama queen attitude was a real killjoy for many fans, and some even claim they were glad when Rita was “finally” killed off and they could keep enjoying the show without her.

It had been a minute since Anna Gunn felt the anticipation of an intriguing script hitting her inbox. Understandably, the incomparable writing she received for a combined decade on Deadwood and Breaking Bad set a high bar. But then the Colin Farrell-led Apple TV+ series Sugar came along.
Created by Mark Protosevich and executive produced by Audrey Chon/Simon Kinberg, the neo-noir show ended up being one of a couple recent Breaking Bad reunions for Gunn. Co-heads of Apple TV+ programming, Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg, served as presidents at Sony Pictures Television when Vince Gilligan walked through their doors with his Breaking Bad pilot script, and on top of having a hand in Gunn joining Sugar, the two executives have been busy recruiting their former Breaking Bad collaborators to their acclaimed streamer, including Gilligan and his still-untitled upcoming series; Jonathan Banks and director-ep Michelle MacLaren for Constellation...

What is it about a woman in charge that brings out the critics?
No matter the genre, you can always find a female lead character that gets a strong negative audience response. Call it a hot take, but we think a lot of those women deserved better than the treatment they got.
Let's be real; some of these characters are children. How terrible could they really be?
These unpopular ladies definitely deserved better from fans, and we're prepared to die on that hill.
Here's why we'll stan these women 'til the end, even if we're the only ones.
Maggie Pierce: Grey's Anatomy
The condemnation thrown at Maggie Pierce was always over the top, especially considering she's a young, gifted, Black surgeon with a complicated past whose unrelenting optimism should have charmed viewers.
It's totally understandable that folks didn't love the Ellis-Richard-love-child storyline she brought with her to Grey's Anatomy, but...

The Ambiguity of Skyler White’s Fate As we closed the final chapter on ‘Breaking Bad’, the fate of Skyler White remained shrouded in ambiguity. Her journey was tumultuous, marked by a descent from a moral compass to a reluctant accomplice in her husband’s criminal empire. The finale left us pondering: what became of Skyler White after the curtain fell? Her character’s future, much like the show’s methamphetamine, is a subject of fervent speculation. Skyler White’s Legal Troubles Post Breaking Bad One prevailing theory suggests Skyler faced legal repercussions for her involvement with Walt’s illicit activities. Many point to her affair...

Ranker is a website that updates rankings in real time based on votes from users. The website’s ranking from November 14 went viral on social media over the weekend, but the list has since changed a bit after people went to look at it.
Breaking Bad‘s Skyler White, played by Anna Gunn, was at number 3 before and now she’s at number 21 on the list. Fans clearly wanted to correct this injustice as she doesn’t deserve to be one of the most hated characters!

What do your TV tastes say about you? Apparently, a lot. In fact, being a fan of certain TV shows can be considered a red flag when it comes to dating. Over the last several years, many conversations about TV preferences have been had across social media and loving shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men are largely seen as red flags to women. It isn’t just the show in general, though. Rather, some women consider how men discuss the show to be problematic in a potential love match.
A love for ‘Breaking Bad’ can be a red flag
There is no denying that Breaking Bad was a great show. The series won 16 Emmy awards and was nominated more than 50 times. The themes were complex, and the show was exciting. Still, there are issues with it. According to Best Life, several women have chimed in on social media...

In honor of the Breaking Bad finale’s 10th anniversary (on Sept. 29), TVLine is celebrating the series’ real hero: Skyler White.
Anna Gunn’s Skyler received plenty of criticism during the AMC drama’s five-season run. Viewers on Reddit have called her “cold, manipulative, self-serving controlling and passive aggressive,” an “irritating person” and “annoying.” And according to her son Flynn (aka Walt Jr.), Skyler was “such a b–tch!” But did she deserve such harsh disapproval?

At the end of the last week's episode of "Barry" season 4, a lot of fans didn't know what to think. Was that ending a fantasy sequence, or did Barry (Bill Hader) and Sally (Sarah Goldberg) actually run away together and start a family? This week's episode confirms that yes, they did, and they're kind of miserable.
Sally spends most of her nights torturing herself by reading up on her ex-friend Natalie (D'Arcy Carden) enjoying the success she's always wanted, whereas Barry spends his time lying to and manipulating his child in a futile attempt to stop him from ever figuring out the truth about his parents. We're not sure if this technically qualifies as a bottle episode, but if it does it's certainly one of the most depressing bottle episodes we've ever seen.
But if you were a fan of "Breaking Bad" or "The Leftovers," it might've also been familiar.

Probably best known for playing Skyler White on Breaking Bad and Martha Bullock on Deadwood, Anna Gunn (who also has a small role in Kevin Smith’s Red State) is the lead in the thriller The Apology, which is set to reach theatres, courtesy of Rlje Films, on December 16th. That same day, The Apology will also be available to watch on the Shudder and AMC+ streaming services.

Soon, Darlene finds herself caught between reason and ruthless instinct. Trapped together by a dangerous storm, a battle of wits escalates to a violent game of revenge.

Even in 2022, “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan is still troubled by the hatred Skyler White endured during the series’ run from 2008 to 2013.
In a new interview with The New Yorker, the “Better Call Saul” co-creator reflected on the sexist fan reaction to Anna Gunn, who played the wife of Bryan Cranston’s drug-dealing high school teacher Walter White. Gunn even went on to publish a New York Times op-ed in August 2013, a month before the final season ended, clearly shaken by uproar from viewers siding with Walter and slamming Skyler.
“Back when the show first aired, Skyler was roundly disliked,” Gilligan told The New Yorker. “I think that always troubled Anna Gunn [who played Skyler]. And I can tell you it always troubled me, because Skyler, the character, did nothing to deserve that. And Anna certainly did nothing to deserve that. She played the part beautifully.”
But Gilligan now understands that the storytelling may have encouraged such reactions.

In “Breaking Bad,” Walter White (Bryan Cranston) builds a multi-million dollar meth empire, all while lying to his family and mercilessly killing those who stand in his way. But it was often his wife Skyler White, played by Anna Gunn, who was viewed as the villain in the story.
In a lengthy interview with The New Yorker, “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan opened up about the undeserved, and often sexist, hatred toward Skyler, saying that it “troubled” him and Gunn.

Gilligan continued: “I realize in hindsight that the show was rigged, in the sense that the storytelling was solely through Walt’s eyes,...

With the conclusion of Better Call Saul’s final season, it looks like audiences around the world have to accept that Vince Gilligan’s New Mexico meth-verse has come to a close. With more than 120 episodes between Breaking Bad and its prequel series, we’ve been treated to some of the greatest televised entertainment ever produced. Not many thought that this creative team could make a spinoff series that would rival the original in just about every measurable category, but that’s exactly what happened.
All of this means we can finally do a comprehensive break-down to decide which show is the better overall product. From the uncanny acting ability of Bryan Cranston and Bob Odenkirk, to the pristine neo-Western style of the cinematography, a lot of factors will sway our decision. The one thing we know for sure is that we will be hard pressed to ever be treated...

A version of this story about “Better Call Saul” and Rhea Seehorn first appeared in the Down to the Wire: Drama issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
When “Better Call Saul” wrapped its sixth and final season last winter in Albuquerque, Rhea Seehorn decided to take the long way home. “I drove from New Mexico, just to clear my head, to get back to L.A. And it was sad,” she said during a Zoom interview that took place three weeks before the series finale aired. “Saying goodbye to that character and saying goodbye to that work and saying goodbye to the kind of collaboration that I have been afforded for so many years was really hard. I don’t think it’s hit most of us that we’re not going back because it’s (still) airing — like, we’re excitedly anticipating talking to people about these last couple...

This article contains spoilers for Better Call Saul through season 6 episode 9.
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are well known for focusing on tightly-wound plots that usually exclude discussion on many of their characters’ personal lives. Most of the scenes we see relate back to their roles in the crime world, and if we see these in-between moments, they tie back to the main narrative.
This is why one particular scene was a real breath of fresh air on Better Call Saul season 6 episode 9 “Fun and Games.” Fresh off his victory over Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton) in the midseason premiere, Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) decides to relax with a glass of wine at a fancy restaurant.
