Exclusive: Ksenia Solo, whose credits include the Syfy series Lost Girl and AMC’s Turn: Washington’s Spies, has been set as the lead in Sweet Harmony, an indie psychological thriller to be directed by Jeff Beesley. Shooting is set to start this summer in Winnipeg.
The script from Kerry Douglas Dye is mostly under wraps, but the story takes place in a rent-controlled New York apartment building in a gentrifying neighborhood that has gone condo. Conflict arises between the newer upscale residents and one of the original tenants. Scary Good Films’ Kevin Niu and Shane Snoke are producing, and Lynwood Spinks and Casey Wolfe are executive producers.

Turns out Eli Roth, the director of "Hostel," was not a fan of "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace." At least he wasn't back in 1999, when he wrote this scathing takedown -- which, since it was published before the movie even opened, stands as one of the first reviews of the prequel ever written.
Writing for LeisureSuit.net, a website that no longer exists (though an archived version of the review can be found here), Roth declared, "So here's the kicker: It Sucks." Yes, we all kind of know that now (though some people took longer than others to figure that out) but it's still remarkable to read such early vitriol.
The review was brought to my attention by Jordan Hoffman, who currently writes for Film.com and the New York Daily News. Back in 1999, Hoffman was an editor at LeisureSuit.net (along with screenwriter Kerry Douglas Dye...

Being the movies editor of Ugo is a lot of fun. Not only do I get all the free gummy worms I can eat (even the sour-dusted ones) I get to see films before the general and unwashed masses. Once in a while I get to see something way in advance, as was the case with Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion. As such, my exposure to the apocalyptic virus picture was one hundred percent pure, and it pains me that when you go see it you’ll never have the same experience. Even if you try.
When I sat down to see Contagion all I knew was that it was Soderbergh’s new picture and it had Mma star Gina Carano in it. Oh, wait, that’s Haywire? Okay, then what’s this? Too late, the movie’s starting already.

All over the world, many people suffer from extreme obsessive compulsive disorders which constrict them from taking part in normal day-to-day activities. But what happens when one of them decides to step out of their comfort zone just a little bit and try to be normal?
This is the basic idea behind Body/Antibody, an independent film from Kerry Douglas Dye and Jordan Hoffman. The movie was released back in 2007, but remains relatively unknown and unseen, and this is a shame.
Body/Antibody tells the story of Kip (Robert Gomes), and man being held prisoner in his own apartment by his obsessive compulsive disorder. Kip isn't a big fan of any type of germs, and he goes to extreme lengths to keep them out. He works out...

Dark House DVD ArtDirector: Darin Scott.
Writers: Darin Scott, and Kerry Douglas Dye.
Dark House is a film from writer and director Darin Scott (Tale from the Hood), which completed in 2009 and was not released until July 30th of this year, theatrically. This film beat out seven others to be presented by both Lightning Entertainment and Fangoria for a nationwide released, which included three cities. The film offers a twist on the usual haunted house theme from horror films and actress Meghan Ory displays an alright performance as central character Claire Thompson, who has been traumatized after becoming a witness to a child murder massacre. Her attempt to desensitize her fear at the Darrode family home, where the slaughter took place, is outmatched by the director's ability to show an interesting visual sphere. A performance from Jeffrey Combs is especially well done.

We caught wind of a new indie film in pre-production entitled Dark House, which was written by Darin Scott & Kerry Douglas Dye and directed by Scott. Traumatized by an terrifying event in her youth, Claire Thompson tries to exorcise her demons by revisiting the old house where a terrible children's massacre took place. Now a haunted house attraction set up by impressario Walston Rey, the former foster home run by the evil Miss Darrode is set to open for the press and Walston recruits Claire and several of her fellow acting class students to perform as part of the show. Unfortunately, a series of horrible murders happen at the haunted house, generating from either the malevolent spirit of the departed Miss Darrode, or by Claire herself... Filming begins this month in Los Angeles.
