Just a mere 15 years after his death, Tupac Shakur’s screenplay is in development at NStar Studios. Written in 1995 while Shakur was serving prison time, Live 2 Tell depicts the life of a teenage drug baron as he tries to leave behind his life of crime. Tupac: Resurrection producer Preston Holmes has been trying to get the film made since prior to Shakur’s death; with the help of Hustle & Flow producer Dwight Williams and Shakur’s mother Afeni Shakur, it looks like the film will finally start production in early 2012. As for casting the lead in the Tupac Shakur movie, Holmes isn’t too concerned with casting any ol’ A-lister. “We think that the name we need is the name we have, which is Tupac Shakur,” he explains. Who do you think would the ideal casting pick for Tupac’s one and only screenplay?

The filming of the Tupac biopic has been dominant in regards to the most important posthumous release in recent years, but it might be taking the backseat now as a screenplay, titled Live 2 Tell, assumed to be written while Pac was in prison serving a sentence due to weapons charges, has been discovered and purchased.
So the report goes, NStar Studios purchased the excavated screenplay for $11 million, and is set put it into production next year. Studio co-head Preston Holmes, who worked with Pac's mother Afeni Shakur on the documentary Tupac: Resurrection, is set to co-produce the screenplay with Hustle and Flow producer Dwight Williams, while Shakur's mother will act as the executive producer.

Wait, what? Tupac Shakur? Screenwriter? Dead? Yes. Yes. And yes. It’s been some 15 years since Shakur was shot dead on the streets of Las Vegas but that hasn’t stopped the hip-hop/rap artist from leaving his mark all over everything. It seems as though Shakur wrote a screenplay about the life in the drug trade with serving an 11-month sentence on sexual assault charges at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, N.Y.
Variety says Live 2 Tell deals with a teenage drug lord and his efforts at trying to leave the life of crime behind him. Sounds like a decent story, and should be fairly gritty since that premise would hit close to home with Shakur. We have a little bit more information on this after the jump.
Production on the film should begin early next year, with Hustle and Flow producer Dwight Williams set to help produce this flick,...

Tupac lives.
Well, sort of.
The rapper/ actor/ requisite bad boy — whose controversial life ended with gunfire in Las Vegas some 15 years ago — is about to assume yet another title: screenwriter.
Yes, you read that correctly.
It turns out that Shakur made productive use of his time while serving an 11-month sentence on sexual assault charges at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, N.Y. — because that's where he penned "Live 2 Tell," a script about life in the drug trade.
More specifically, the drama tells the story of a teenage drug lord and his efforts to leave his life of crime, Variety reports.
Now this flick looks like it's finally going to getting made, as it has been sold, a budget of $11 million has been set and production is (tentatively) planned to start as soon as early next year.
Producers include "Hustle and Flow" alum Dwight Williams, along with Shakur's own mother,...
