Exclusive: As production on his new actioner Den of Thieves 2: Pantera continues, Christian Gudegast has been set to write and direct a new film on mixed martial artist Royce Gracie and the birth of the Ultimate Fighting Championship for frequent partner Tucker Tooley Entertainment.
The Untitled Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Project takes place on the night that Gracie proved Brazilian Jiu-jitsu as the most effective fighting style, one that would ultimately become a major component of today’s UFC mixed martial arts. It more specifically chronicles Gracie’s debut in UFC 1 on November 12, 1993, when the fighter achieved the unthinkable during the organization’s inaugural competition. This night that had him besting three competitors is considered to be that on which the UFC was born.

Exclusive: Captain America and The Purge star Frank Grillo is set to star in action-thriller M.I.A., we can reveal.
Kevin Carraway (Chain Of Command) is set to direct the script penned by Scott Windhauser (Hurricane Heist). Aleksander Vayshelboym (Red Hour) will co-star with Grillo.
Grillo will play Jax, a man who wakes up in a precarious situation with no memory, no time to spare and everyone in the criminal world out to kill him. With nowhere to turn, he is forced to team up with a streetwise criminal to find out who he is and realizes he might not like the answers he uncovers.
Production is slated for second quarter of 2021.
Richard Rionda Del Castro of Hannibal Media will finance, produce and act as world sales agent, kicking off business at this week’s virtual EFM. Grillo will executive-produce with Frederico Lapenda.

After filming a supporting role in the Natalie Portman movie “Jane Got a Gun,” up-and-coming actor Jack Falahee is set to join Nicolas Cage in Image Entertainment’s upcoming action-thriller “Tokarev,” TheWrap has learned.

Hannibal Classics has set Danny Glover, Peter Stomare, Aubrey Peebles, Patrice Cols and Max Fowler to join Nicolas Cage in the action thriller Tokarev. The film, which starts June 8 in Alabama, marks the American debut of Spanish helmer Paco Cabezas. Cage plays a reformed criminal whose daughter is kidnapped by the Russian mob. To find her, he must leave his respectable life behind, round up his old crew and seek his own brand of justice. Funding comes from Union Patriot Capital Management LLC. Image Entertainment has acquired North American rights and the Hannibal Classics sales division is selling it around the world. “We couldn’t be happier with our cast, a combination of audience favorites and fresh young talent, said Riionda Del Castro. Rick Jacobson's crime drama Bad Guys captured three awards at the eighth annual International Beverly Hills Film Festival awards ceremony: the audience award for best feature, best producer (Frederico Lapenda) and best actor (Sherman Augustus).
Hole in the Paper Sky won the audience award for best short and best screenplay (Howard Kingkade and Bill Purple). Ziad Hamzeh's Woman earned the Golden Palm Award for best film in all categories.
At the event, held Sunday at the Beverly Hills Hotel, producer/director Brett Ratner presented photographer Phil Stern with the fest's Living Legends Award.
