January Jones is joining the debate over self-tape audition practices in Hollywood.
The “Mad Men” alum took to her Instagram Stories to call out fees to audition and the issue of sending in self-tapes as opposed to in-person readings. “Note to Hollywood: It’s time for casting directors to come back into the office like everyone else. To audition actors in person,” Jones wrote on Instagram (via Variety). “And if anyone asks for a Fee to audition please know that this is criminal and Pathetic.”
She continued, “I personally have had to self tape several times since the pandemic began and there is zero benefit to it for anyone involved. It’s time consuming, expensive, and a drag to whomever you have to drag in to read with you (sorry Mom), and is often done with zero direction/notes. Exclusive: After several actresses expressed frustration on Twitter this week about the cost of self-tape auditions, SAG-AFTRA weighed in Friday lambasting casting offices for cashing in on the process by offering rental facilities for actors.
“Casting offices charging actors for the creation and production of audition tapes is taking our industry in the wrong direction,” according to a statement. “It is an optical and ethical disaster. Actors are already faced with undue financial pressures in their pursuit of work. Casting offices running production and audition services runs counter to the principles of fairness and equity in our industry and the practice should be discouraged.”

"I did t all for you!" Mutiny Pictures has revealed the official trailer for an indie crime comedy film titled Lie Hard, arriving on VOD directly later in August. The title is an obvious play on Die Hard, but it doesn't seem to live up to that potential. To impress his girlfriend's wealthy parents, a pathological liar borrows 4 million from a crime syndicate to purchase a mansion. Unfortunately for him, all debts need to be paid back. They actually found a real Long Island mansion that was about to be razed – and razed it themselves for the film. The film stars Ian Niles, who also co-wrote and directed this, plus Melanie Chandra, Cathwerine Curtin, Joel Marsh Garland, Alysia Reiner, Claire Coffee, Patrick Kilpatrick, Jordan Lane Price, Karalynn Dunton, Ari Barkan, Adam Lindo, Sean Patrick Folster, and Sid O'Connell. Russell Hornsby has acquired impressive credits over his more than 20-year acting career. But it’s the Bmf star’s turn as dedicated Detective Hank Griffin from NBC’s fantastical hit Grimm that holds a special place in fans’ hearts. Although the show’s run ended in 2017, Hornsby comes in contact with cast members here and there. He even appeared alongside Claire Coffee (Adalind Schade) in the short-lived Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector. “It would be great to have some kind of big cast reunion to share stories at a Comic-Con or something like that,” Hornsby said. “I still talk to David [Giuntoli], Sasha [Roiz], everybody here and there. We get together depending on where we are for drinks or a birthday party. Six years is a long time to work with someone in this business, so you do become a family. "I'm suggesting a little competition..." Gravitas Ventures has debuted the first trailer for Harvey Lowry's indie comedy The Competition, making fun of relationships and the way things work in this day and age. Thora Birch stars as a woman who becomes the "voice of a generation" by starting a romance blog about how relationships should only last 6 months, at which point you must break up before your mate becomes unfaithful. She is introduced to the perfect guy, played by Chris Klein, but refuses his advances. So they setup a challenge to choose five friends in long relationships and attempt to get them to cheat. It plays out from there, and yadda yadda. The film's full cast includes Claire Coffee, David Blue, Gabrielle Stone, Jason Tobias, and Tiffany Fallon. Hello, fellow Grimmsters, and welcome to the sixth and final season of Grimm, abbreviated though it may be.
Grimm Season 6 Episode 1 picked up right where the last season left off before leading us on an admittedly enjoyable thrill ride as Nick evaded capture by Renard.
Oh, and there was some weird stuff involving the magic stick, its cloth, and a dead Wesen? Yeah.
There was barely a chance to take a breath at all during this episode, and the mostly tight story kept the tension properly ramped up for the situation.
And what a crazy situation it was! I am honestly disappointed that Renard didn't take advantage of the perfect opportunity to redeem himself from last season. Here, he dove right off the deep end and well past the moral event horizon.
He can't possibly expect that blaming Nick for all the dead people would ever hold up in the long term (especially since,...

It seems unlikely there is anything in the apothecary that can fix this one.
NBC announced today Grimm Season 6 would be its last.
This is hardly unexpected news, even if it is not the news any Grimm fans want to hear.
While it's been said that tightening up a season of a genre show can give it more focus and leaves less room for filler episodes that sometimes wander aimlessly throughout a season, Grimm has never really been a great offender in that area.
In recent seasons, their storylines have been well focused and even cases of the week seemed to tie into the overall arcs.
That's why the news came as a bit of a shock that Grimm Season 6 was not only being held for a January premiere but would only consist of 13 episodes.
But once the shock of that wore off, the reality set in. Grimm could be coming to an end.

When Flula Borg showed up in the Pitch Perfect 2 trailer I found myself smiling at his success. It was a cameo keen to capitalize on his YouTube DJ fame and unabashedly broken English Chatty Cathy vibe, but it was studio film exposure nonetheless. This cemented the fact that I had become a fan of this crazy German and as such jumped at the chance to see how he’d do as co-lead and co-writer of his own vehicle. Just as the prospect interested me, however, it’ll surely infuriate others. Flula’s shtick is not universally palatable and Buddymoon does sink or swim depending on your enjoyment of it. But that’s okay. This thing was shot in ten days amongst friends. It’s not trying to take the world by storm.

The Grimm producers couldn’t have conjured better conditions for a location shoot if they’d had Adalind’s magic hat and all seven keys at their disposal.

NBC has renewed “Grimm” for a sixth season, the broadcast network announced Tuesday. “We absolutely love what our producers and cast have accomplished over the past five seasons,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke in a statement. “They have created a whole new world of creatures and have a truly devoted fan base. We can’t wait to see what comes next.” As the nefarious forces of Black Claw take hold of Portland, Nick (David Giuntoli) must take a stand to protect his city and those closest to him, especially his child with Adalind (Claire Coffee). It will take the full force.

Those ugly words of vitriol you spat over the weekend about Miley Cyrus joining The Voice as a full-time, red-chair-occupying coach for Season 11?
We regret to inform you that you’re going to have to sprinkle ’em with cinnamon and sugar, then nom-nom-nom ’em. Because despite her array of questionably tailored, homemade clown costumes, the “Wrecking Ball” singer — who was serving as Special Advisor to all four teams during the Season 10 Knockout Rounds — offered more specific, actionable, insightful advice over the course of the episode than Adam, Pharrell, Blake and Xtina combined.

Careful there, Renard. Fatherhood — even sham, for-the-cameras, get-me-elected fatherhood — may be more trouble than it’s worth.
In Friday’s Grimm, Sasha Roiz’s Capt. Renard met with his former hook-up Adalind to offer her some information about their missing daughter. While the meeting seemed like a friendly gesture at first, Adalind soon realized that there was more to Sean’s overture than fatherly concern for Diana.
