"You've always wanted a warrior's death..." So why not go out shootin'? Brainstorm Media has revealed an official trailer for The Channel, yet another generic action thriller heading to VOD day-and-date this year. The film is from the same filmmaker who made Warhorse One also out this year - William Kaufman. After their bank heist goes wrong, a desperate criminal, his out-of-control brother, and their motley crew of armed ex-marines must escape New Orleans and the determined FBI agent who is pursuing them. Clayne Crawford and Max Martini star as the two criminals on the run. The cast also includes Nicoye Banks, Juliene Joyner, Todd Jenkins, and Paul Rae. Not only is all this derivative, none of this looks good. One more boring guns vs. feds thrillers, only for those still into this kind of movie. // Continue Reading ›...

Indie Filmmakers Waiting on Major Payments from iTunes and Amazon As Distribber Faces Financial Woes
Distribber, a service that acts as a middleman between independent filmmakers and streaming platforms, has tapped a firm that specializes in bankruptcy reorganization as clients say they’re owed thousands in royalty payments they worry they might never see.
Aggregators like Distribber receive filmmakers’ work and, for a fee, will encode and post it on multiple platforms for streaming, rental, or purchase, then collect the revenue and cut the checks. In theory, anyway.
In December, director Todd Jenkins used the service to send his horror comedy “Cherokee Creek” to iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, and Google Play. He went on to collect about $2,150 for the few days that remained in the final quarter of 2018. But he hasn’t received a dime for 2019 sales, he said.
Distribber, which recently stopped accepting new orders, kept its users abreast of sales though an online dashboard — they have no access to direct information from the sales platforms.

A couple of months ago, we posted an announcement about Cherokee Creek, a new Bigfoot-themed horror film from writer/director (and star) Todd Jenkins. The premise of the film is pretty simple: a bachelor party in the woods gets disrupted when the revelers are beset upon by a terrible creature lurking in the trees. If that’s […]

The cast and crew of a low budget horror film is murdered by a psychotic killer who videotapes the murders and fashions them in the same way of a script that some of the crew is working on secretly.
Entertaining combination of behind the scenes spoof, valentine to Friday the 13th and all of the ripoffs that came out shortly afterwards with a dash of Scream thrown in. Fright Flick features spot on humor that sends up what happens on the set of a low budget horror film from the colorful personalities involved, to the sometimes laughable casting decisions, to the fact of how someone can have one job today and being serving another job function the next day. The film's plentiful death sequences wonderfully pay tribute...

So the day has come for you folks to take home Costas Mandylor in the final chapter of the phenomenon that is Saw! Well, at least until the inevitable reboot. Even cooler...if the jolly red-suited fatman brought you a 3D television last month, you can watch this puppy in its gory 3D glory, too.
Another franchise that is buzzing this week is the video game sequel, Dead Space 2. In addition to the game itself, you can also bring home the collector's edition, the album soundtrack, a hardcover game guide, and an animated DVD movie. That should keep you busy for a while.
Oh yeah, there are a couple of other interesting titles with some familiar faces from "True Blood", "Angel", "Buffy", and even "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman".

*This review for the satirish Fright Flick has been written by co-writer Ed Sum.
**Full disclosure: a DVD of this film was provided by Breaking Glass Pictures.
Director: Israel Luna.
Writers: Todd Jenkins (story), and Israel Luna (story).
Just imagine what happens when everyone, including their own grandma, has their own agenda and there is a movie within a movie going on at the same time. Israel Luna's Fright Flick gives some interesting satire in his look at the dirty goings on in making a low budget movie.
He puts the slick and grease back behind what's always been imagined in the slime and grime of wannabes with high egos, who are trying to make that big break. This film revolves around a low-grade slasher flick that turns b-grade when the production team starts making a sequel to their product and certain members are being killed for real and for unknown reasons.

Whoa, what a way to start the new year! After several weeks of desolate conditions in terms of horror title releases, the floodgate just burst open.
This is the week you may want to think about using up those giftcards and cash you got from returning your holiday presents. Major releases are vying for your greenbacks alongside re-releases in Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D (in case Santa brought you a 3D TV recently), and other more independent titles. In addition to movies, there's also a Buffy motion comic and the next volume of a vampire's diary in paperback.
The Last Exorcism (Review)
Directed by Daniel Stamm
Starring Patrick Fabian (Interview), Ashley Bell, Louis Herthum, Tony Bentley
When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort,...

And the horror releases are already starting to mount up for 2011 and let's just hope there's more to go through than the late loaded year that was 2010.
Breaking Glass Pictures has set a DVD release date of January 25th, 2011 under its Vicious Circle Films label for Israel Luna's (Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives) latest horror comedy, Fright Flick. Described as "the quintessential campy, who-dunnit flick that reveals how everyone is just dying to be in the movie business ... though it may cost them an arm and a leg!"
Chad Allen, Daphne Khoury, Adam Kitchen, Richard Curtin and Todd Jenkins all star. The DVD will include a behind-the-scenes featurette, deleted scenes, a blooper reel, and a photo gallery.
Synopsis
A second-rate film crew is shooting the third in a trilogy of tasteless (yet cheesy) horror flick called Fright Flick. The schmuck-of-a-director can't keep his hands off the lead actress, the producer never gets his due credit,...
