His image is familiar to millions, iconic to a generation of rock fans and a 52-year mystery finally solved: The old, bearded, hunched-over man toting a big bundle of sticks as seen on the cover of the 1971 album known as Led Zeppelin IV is none other than…
Lot Long. Won’t ring a bell now, but if you needed your Wiltshire cottage roof thatched back in the 1890s, the guy just might be your go-to dude.
In a story of coincidence and happenstance, the identity of the Victorian-era roof-thatcher has finally been established, more than a half-century since a colorized copy of the original black-and-white photo captured the attention of Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and singer Robert Plant. Neither of them knew who the man was when they came across the color copy while browsing an antique shop outside London way back when.

Julia Jackman’s feature debut about two teenagers with a shared passion for music is entertaining and sympathetic if a bit formulaic
Writer-director Julia Jackman is an award-winner for her short films and now makes her feature debut at the London film festival with this teen romcom, based on an idea co-authored by Josh O’Connor – who shows up in an amusing cameo playing a masked graffiti artist and part-time body piercer with a sub-Banksy reverence for his own anonymous glamour. It’s sweet-natured and engagingly laid-back, if a bit televisual and reliant on that time-honoured staple that dates from Richard Curtis’s Love Actually: the end-of-term school show in which a romantic declaration becomes an unscripted part of the programme.
The year is 2006 and, come to think of it, this is the second Lff movie set in 2006, after Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn; perhaps it will...

Exclusive: Rock icon Bob Geldof is collaborating on a stage musical about the global phenomenon that was Live Aid. The show, called Just For One Day, devised and directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet), will have its world premiere at the Old Vic Theatre in London early next year.
Live Aid was a concert like no other, organized by Geldof and fellow rock ‘n’ roller Midge Ure in July 1985 to raise funds and awareness for the famine crisis then taking place in Ethiopia.
Just For One Day will run at the Old Vic from January 26-March 30.
The UK leg of Live Aid kicked off at Wembley Stadium where the likes of Queen with frontman Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Elton John, George Michael, Sting, Sade, The Who, Paul McCartney, U2, Geldof’s the Boomtown Rats, Ure, Paul Weller and tons of others rocked and raved in the presence of thousands of spectators — including Charles and Diana,...

Everyone knows the definition of a tribute band. But is there a difference between that and a “revival” band? Whatever one chooses to call it, when is such a project a money-making exercise in nostalgia — and when is it a sincere, concerted (pun intended) effort to recreate and sustain a genre of music that suddenly feels on life support? And exactly how short were those sleeves on Jimmy Page’s open-chested jacket from 1973?
These and other questions are addressed and grappled with in Mr. Jimmy, Peter Michael Dowd’s weirdly...

"I just have to keep going down this road..." Abramorama has revealed an official trailer for a documentary film titled Mr. Jimmy, landing in theaters worldwide at the beginning of September. This is finally getting a proper release after first premiering at the 2019 SXSW Film Festival four years ago. Japanese rocker Akio Sakurai has dedicated his life to Jimmy Page. For 30 years he recreated vintage Zeppelin concerts note-for-note in small Tokyo clubs, adopting the guitar chops and persona of Jimmy Page. Moving to L.A. to pursue his tribute dream, cultures clash and Akio's idyllic vision meets reality. Produced, directed, edited by Peter Michael Dowd who spent nearly 8 years and countless trips to Japan bringing Mr Jimmy’s story to life. With the approval of Led Zeppelin, the film features 30 of their songs as performed by Akio Sakurai. The film additionally includes Mr. Page's songwriting before Led Zeppelin, with the Yardbird's "White Summer,...

Led Zeppelin’s music was always about the sound Jimmy Page had in his head. He was the driving force behind the band’s music. The guitarist always pushed to make his vision a reality, such as when he had to scream at the recording engineer to put backward echo on “You Shook Me.” Page fought for and got his way when he recorded the signature Zeppelin song “Whole Lotta Love” in a studio meant for classical recordings.
Why Jimmy Page recorded the Led Zeppelin song ‘Whole Lotta Love’ in a classical music studio
“Stairway to Heaven” is the most-streamed Led Zeppelin song. Page and singer Robert Plant professed their love for “Kashmir” as the band’s signature tune. You’d have to include “Whole Lotta Love,” the lead track from Led Zeppelin II, in the mix with those epics.

Led Zeppelin was Jimmy Page’s baby. The guitarist assembled the band. He dictated the creative vision. He had a hand in writing nearly all of Zeppelin’s songs. Page played guitar and other instruments. Just as crucially, he produced all the band’s albums. It was a lot of extra work, but Page never considered giving up the role as Led Zeppelin’s producer, and when an outsider tried to muscle his way into the title, the guitarist told him off with a very frank response.
Jimmy Page told Glyn Johns he ‘didn’t have a hope in hell’ of producing Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin was nearly a self-contained entity. Aside from tabla player Viram Jasani contributing to “Black Mountain Side” on the debut and Robert Plant sharing vocals with Sandy Denny on “The Battle of Evermore,” they never used outside performers. Sound engineers were the only outsiders to crack the inner circle.

Led Zeppelin appeased their fans with their feature-length concert film The Song Remains the Same. The 1976 movie offered Zep heads new takes on well-known tunes and approximated the energy of a real show for those who couldn’t attend. He had a long list of Led Zeppelin songs to choose from, but Jimmy Page’s favorite songs from The Song Remains the Same movie soundtrack cover the band’s light and shade approach.

Led Zeppelin is responsible for some of rock history’s most epic guitar riffs and rhythms. The band transcended rock n’ roll and impacted other musical genres, including hip-hop. While the two seem like opposites, Led Zeppelin and hip-hop have come together to create excellent music. Here are five rap songs that sampled Led Zeppelin.

“Life’s So Hard” isn’t a track many of 2pac’s fans may be familiar with, as it was released posthumously and never made its way onto an album. The song was recorded for the 1997 movie Gang Related, the rapper’s final film performance. “Life’s So Hard” samples Led Zeppelin’s “Ten Years Gone” from 1971’s Physical Graffiti.

One of Led Zeppelin’s most famous songs is “Stairway to Heaven,” but Robert Plant admitted he wasn’t sure if people ever understood it. Though the band has faced accusations of plagiarism over the song, they believe it is a quintessential representation of who they were as a group. It’s interesting, then, that Plant isn’t sure if people got the point of the song. Given its popularity and cultural legacy, though, does this matter?

Led Zeppelin has a lengthy discography of heavy, hard-hitting rock ballads. While the band is no more, millions of lucky fans in the 1970s were able to witness the band play live. However, Led Zeppelin did not perform every track they released, and a few songs never made it on any concert setlist. Here are 5 Led Zeppelin songs the band never performed live.

“Fool in the Rain” suffered from poor timing as it was the last single released in the U.S. by Led Zeppelin before the band disbanded after drummer John Bonham’s death. The single peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and was included on the album In Through the Out Door.

Led Zeppelin approached its fourth album with a mission — make it all about the music. That’s why the cover doesn’t feature the band’s name, the album title, or the record label information. It was a statement to the critics who said the band was all hype: “Judge the music, not the people making it.” And the music holds up. Guitarist Jimmy Page had to work overtime on Led Zeppelin IV because of a studio lie, and he was up for the challenge. So are we. We’re ranking all eight songs from Led Zeppelin IV from worst* to best.

Led Zeppelin seemed to burst onto the music scene. All it took was one stellar concert in early 1969 for singer Robert Plant to realize the band might mean something special. Yet the band’s members played in various bands (or worked as anonymous session musicians in the case of John Paul Jones). They won over fans almost immediately, but several other musicians hated Led Zeppelin with intense passion.

Robert Plant has been one of the biggest names in music for decades, but he once considered leaving the industry to become a teacher. In 1977, Plant’s young son died, making him reexamine his career path. He said he wanted a less ego-driven career and thought he would make a good teacher. While he didn’t end up leaving Led Zeppelin behind, he said that he still finds the prospect of teaching appealing.

In 1977, Plant was on tour with Led Zeppelin when his five-year-old son, Karac, died of a stomach infection. He rushed home to be with his family during the painful period.
“Well, it wasn’t easy, especially in the light of the fact that there’s the whole hysteria that surrounded the mid to late seventies,” he said in an interview with Dan Rather on Axs TV.

Queen was a unique band due to their fantastic instrumentation and astounding vocals that emerged from frontman Freddie Mercury. It might be hard to imagine now, but Led Zeppelin was once a bunch of relative unknowns looking to build a following. Well, Jimmy Page was a known commodity after playing lead guitar for the Yardbirds, but his bandmates — Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones — weren’t. Led Zeppelin was like a championship baseball team — every member was essential to making the magic happen. Guitarist Jimmy Page and singer Robert Plant commanded much of the spotlight. Bassist John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham didn’t receive as much credit for Zep’s music. The only trouble with that is that Jones isn’t 100 right.

Jensen Ackles has a lot to be proud of: his flawless singing voice, those killer looks, and his adorable bromance with fellow "Supernatural" alum Jared Padalecki. Not to mention, the "Boys" actor's sweet romance with "Supernatural" costar and wife Danneel Harris Ackles, whom CW fans will also recognize as Rachel Gatina from "One Tree Hill."
The Ackles worked together on their 2007 movie "Ten Inch Hero" and were close friends before things turned romantic. Their relationship only grew more serious when Jensen asked Danneel for her hand in marriage in November 2009. The two made it official less than a year later when they tied the knot at The Rosewood Crescent Hotel in Dallas, TX, on May 15, 2010.
Since then, the couple have started a family and welcomed three beautiful children into the world - Justice and twins Zeppelin and Arrow Ackles. Between both proud parents, their Instagram pages are filled with cute...
