Summer hasn’t even started yet, but we’ve already got Christmas on our minds!
Hallmark announced today that two of the network’s most beloved stars have wrapped filming on an upcoming holiday movie for 2024.
It’s hard to believe that Lacey Chabert and Kristoffer Polaha have not worked together before, but we’re about to see them in action.
That’s a very literal description of their upcoming movies, and we could not be more excited.
If you are a fan of Hallmark Christmas, you know that these two stars brought forth the very best for the 2023 season.
Chabert had not one but two Christmas movies in 2023.
She starred in a sequel to Haul Out the Holly called Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up, which brought more hijinks to a suburban neighborhood devoted to decorating for Christmas.

Holiday Inn has nothing on North Carolina’s historic Biltmore Estate, which hosts Hallmark Channel‘s A Biltmore Christmas, a delightful story about Lucy (Bethany Joy Lenz), a screenwriter penning the remake of His Merry Wife!, a faux black-and-white classic filmed there. While visiting the Asheville spot for research, Lucy is whisked back in time to the 1947 production and into a cinematic love story with Wife! star Jack Huston (Kristoffer Polaha). Here’s what to expect in the time-sweeper: Hallmark Got VIP Access to the Historic Home The 250-room Gilded Age mansion is a lush filming location. Thanks to a “very strong relationship with the Biltmore,” says executive producer Andrew Gernhard, they shot inside. There’s a Rich Cast of Characters The Lucy-Jack story is boosted by subplots about Jack’s clashing costars (Colton Little and Annabelle Borke) and a Wife! superfan (A.K. Benninghofen) who helps Lucy navigate the film during her journey.

What a gift! Party of Five alums Scott Wolf and Lacey Chabert reunite in this emotional gem shot in Braveheart country (and parts of Ireland). “They are the nicest folks I’ve ever met,” raves executive producer Andrew Gernhard of his stars, who play estranged siblings, Brad and Lindsay Morgan, trying to make nice after their mom (Fiona Bell) invites them to spend the holidays at a Scottish castle. (Credit: Martin Maguire/Hallmark Media) Before their bags are even unpacked, a major secret is revealed, and the spirit of the season has the Morgans hashing things out as they take in the sights (and sips!) of Scotland. Gernhard notes that this one’s a tad different from most Hallmark movies in that “it was more about a brother and sister getting back together,” rather than one of them finding love. But that’s in there too. “It’s Christmas,” he adds with a laugh.

Justin Hartley’s first big project released post-This Is Us will be Netflix’s The Noel Diary, a drama set around the holidays and based on the novel by Richard Paul Evans. Today, Netflix released the first photo featuring Justin Hartley and a canine co-star. The streaming service also announced they’ve set a November 24, 2022 premiere date.
Director Charles Shyer adapted the novel with Rebecca Connor and David Golden.
“I wanted to adapt this novel for a few different reasons. The story of The Noel Diary felt to me like one that could comfortably embrace humor and humanity – while at the same time offer great visual and directorial possibilities. A movie that, as Billy Wilder once said, ‘Could make ’em laugh and make ’em cry.’ I chose to cast Justin Hartley from his work on This Is Us.

Welcome to another horror/sci-fi round-up! This time around we have word of two big cast confirmations for Independence Day 2, details on Scream Factory's Deep in the Darkness Blu-ray / DVD release, and information on the new Blanc/Biehn Productions film, Treachery.
Independence Day 2: Last night it was revealed that the first official cast member had signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2, the sequel to his 1996 film that featured massive alien-induced destruction and larger-than-life characters. It's now been confirmed that one of those characters will be coming back, as Emmerich tweeted last night that Jeff Goldblum will appear in the sequel, likely reprising his role as the brainy and dryly humorous David Levinson, who teamed up with fighter pilot Captain Steven Hiller to take down the mothership in the original film. Smith will not be coming back to reprise his role as Steven.

When reviewing movies, it's sometimes hard to judge them fairly by the mediums they were created for. For instance, to come down as hard on a TV-movie created on a small budget as you do a bigger one like the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake would be unjust. That's how I tried to look at Chiller's Dead Souls.

As we told you back in October, Steve Niles’ Remains will be Chiller‘s first original movie, and now it’s nearly here. It premieres this Friday, December 16 at 10/9c, and we have some pics, a summary, and a prequel to share with you. We’ll have a review of this show, and excerpts from a Q&A session with Steve Niles, later in the week.
Although it’s destined to be compared with AMC‘s The Walking Dead, the zombies in Remains are very different, as you will quickly see if you click on to the 11-minute prequel that Chiller has very kindly posted on its website. Seriously, check it out, but Not while you’re eating. It is totally gross, but it also has at least one laugh-out-loud moment. If this is a taste – sorry – of what’s to come in the movie, this production is going to be Very entertaining.

Remains is quietly going into production, but we're doing our best to keep you in the loop on its progress. Yesterday, the network Chiller announced it is getting behind a feature film adaptation of Steve Niles' "Remains," a graphic novel illustrated by Kieron Dwyer that focused on the zombie apocalypse from the perspective of a Reno, Nevada blackjack dealer. Connecticut native Colin Theys is directing and it appears he'll be shooting the film in his home state. A Ramada Inn in Mystic, Connecticut will stand in as a Nevada casino, says a local NBC affiliate. Andrew Gernhard ( Predator Island ) is producing and says Remains will receive a limited theatrical run before airing on Chiller this fall.

Remains based on the comic book, will be Chiller's second original horror movie as their first is Ghoul which is adapted from a novel. The pair take refuge in a vacant casino and fight a losing battle against the undead, who grow steadily stronger, smarter and more aggressive by the minute. Steve Niles' Remains is written by John Doolan and directed by Colin Theys. Andrew Gernhard and Zach O'Brien are serving as producers. Ghoul by the way follows a group of young friends who risk their lives to stop a rash of disappearances in their own town. This week sees a ton of genre movies coming out on DVD and Blu- Ray. The biggest being Predators, followed up by the remake of the cult classic Night of the Demons, a sequel to Mirrors, and Anniversary editions for Rocky Horror Picture Show and Psycho. Add to that a slew of indie and classic horror and there is a lot to choose from.
Predators
Directed by Nimród Antal
Robert Rodriguez presents Predators, a bold new chapter in the Predator universe. Adrien Brody stars as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors mysteriously brought together on a jungle planet. But when these cold-blooded human “predators” find themselves in all-out war against a new breed of alien Predators, it’s the ultimate showdown between hunter and prey. Predators also star Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Danny Trejo, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Oleg Taktarov, and Louis Ozawa Changchien.

The number of home video releases on October 19th is not as abundant as in recent weeks, and fewer re-released titles means those that are available are much more special. In this batch one Adrien Brody flick competes with another, and at least two independent horror titles are making a splash. Two beloved classic films return in Blu-ray where one is supplemented by a documentary treatment of it.
Also, don't forget to strum & drum out with some tunes from Rob Zombie on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Finally, foreign horror gives us an over-the-top Japanese gorefest, a British zombie flick where the $70 budget was spent on tea and biscuits for the zombies, and Norwegian black metal.

Bigfoot just won't stop killing. He is one angry hominid. The humongous hairy will be continuing his murderous rampage in two more Sasquatchploitation flicks on the way: Savage and Assault of the Sasquatch. We have an extended synopsis for one and DVD news for the other. Read this article now or else Bigfoot will stomp you next.
Let's start with the extended synopsis and new poster art for a Bigfoot romp we've previously told you about: Savage, starring original Karate Kid foe Martin Kove and Freddy's fourth and fifth foiler of his fiendish plans, Lisa Wilcox.
A blazing forest fire rips through Bear Valley National Park. As the firefighters try to contain it, the animals are being forced out of their habitat, including a beast that was better left undiscovered. Now several firefighters have gone missing and others have been found mutilated.

Fango got ahold of an exclusive set of pics (see them below) from The Opponent courtesy of its filmmakers over at Synthetic Cinema, who also gave us a report on the Connecticut-based shoot. The Opponent, which we last reported on here, is set in and around a junkyard where a motley assortment of self-styled alien hunters try to bag the bounty that has been placed on a crash-landed extraterrestrial—which proves very capable of fighting back.
“The shoot has been going great,” director Colin Theys tells us. “We’ve had an absurd amount of rain, but this is easily the best cast I’ve ever worked with. It has been very exciting to shoot a picture with a definite comic angle, and Opponent is a lot of movie. The big action sequences involve dozens of characters, multiple creatures and a ridiculous array of effects. [Scripter John Doolan’s] characters are delightfully insane and shockingly deranged.

What do you get when you cross Assault on Precinct 13 with a Bigfoot movie? Something that might look a little like Sasquatch Assault. The first trailer for this action-packed piece of Sasquatchploitation has arrived, and it looks positively tremendous.

Synthetic and Vijaya will shoot four movies in the former’s home state of Connecticut over the next 18 months, with cameras starting to roll in July. “I’m very excited about Sasquatch Assault [which we last reported on here] and the new lineup of features,” Synthetic producer Andrew Gernhard (who also helmed Sasquatch) tells Fango. “I believe the team-up of our company and Vijaya Cine is key at this moment in time, when film production is down all around the world.
