An emergency in the two-part 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 finale is going to be hard to watch. Airing back-to-back on May 16 are “Best of Men” and “In Sickness and In Health,” and yes, we have T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos’ (Rafael Silva) wedding to look forward to, but after watching TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek, we’re more worried about a baby! The 126 runs up as a car sinks to the bottom of a pool. The driver is able to get out, but he tries to run for it. Sergeant Ty O’Brian (Neal McDonough) immediately goes after him, warning, “don’t even think about it.” Paul (Brian Michael Smith) and Marjan (Natacha Karam) help hold him down. Meanwhile, Owen (Rob Lowe) dives into the pool to get the other passenger out: a baby! But can he save her? Watch the full video above. In the two-hour finale,...

A house divided cannot stand.
Families fight, and Judd and Tommy put that to the test during 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 16, after they disagreed on a call, kept spiraling so far out of control that the entire house was in on the spat.
And thankfully, Owen and T.K. got great news regarding their health, but Robert put Owen in the most devastating position by the end of the hour.
Tommy and Judd are the epitomai of best friends, and that dynamic has made for some rich screen time together when it's shown and some of the most enjoyable aspects of the series in these recent years.
They've been each other's family, and while families sometimes get into a dispute, something about those two felt untouchable.
As a result, it was almost surprising that their disagreement over the call escalated how it did. It's hard to believe...

We love when we get Judd (Jim Parrack) and Tommy (Gina Torres) scenes on the job on 9-1-1: Lone Star, but not like this! TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek of the May 9 episode in which the two disagree on protocol during a rescue at paper mill, leading a full-on feud to develop between the 126 Ems and Fire. In our clip, T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein) tells Judd, who’s acting as captain of the 126, that Tommy’s still inside the pill, after ordering him and Nancy (Brianna Baker) out. “I gave the order for everybody to get out,” Judd argues. Nancy explains that there’s a patient stuck in a machine, and Tommy needs help with extraction. Judd radios Tommy. “I gave the evacuation order. You gotta get out,” he tells her. But she tells him that her patient has a pulse. “Damnit to hell,” he says...

"Swipe Left" provided a fun, humorous, lighthearted, and entertaining hour.
Some of the highlights of 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 12 included the crew helping Marjan with her dating life, honing in on that family vibe they've succeeded at this season.
And, of course, we got another Tarlos update on the path to marriage in the form of a bump in the road.
Marjan is due to get back into the dating world and find a nice guy who can keep up with her and respect everything she is and wants to be in her life.
But dating is such a freaking hassle and something that Marjan doesn't have the patience or the institution to put up with when it comes to the stupid apps and dumb games that guys play.

After weeks of secrets and lies, Monday’s 9-1-1 exposed a major betrayal that changed how one member of the 118 will handle their family moving forward.
Hen and Karen assumed the worst when Denny didn’t get off the school bus, but they never could have imagined the reason — that he’s been spending time with his birth father behind both of their backs. The truth came out when Nathaniel and Denny were hit by another driver at an intersection; Denny emerged unscathed, but Nathaniel’s more significant injuries required surgery.

They're trying something new this season, and it's been a hell of a ride.
Marjan's road travel arc concluded with 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 9 as she found her way home in the most eventful, nerve-wracking way possible.
And even though much of the hour played out like a Lifetime thriller, it was enough to have you on the edge of your seat and emotional by the hour's end.
Natacha Karam knocked this installment out of the park making for an unforgettable performance and installment for Marjan. It happened to be the embodiment of this character we've come to know for four seasons.
Marjan is honorable, brave, compassionate, and resilient beyond measure. We saw all those qualities as she fought for her life against Grant, saving herself from this terrible man and finding her way back home to where she belonged.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 9, “Road Kill.”] Marjan’s (Natacha Karam) returning home to the 126. But before she can get back to rescuing people with the people who have become her family, she’s going to have to rest up a bit after some saving she did on the road in the latest episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star. While Marjan did get Kiley (Brooke Sorenson) away from her abusive fiancé Grant (Cameron Cowperthwaite), he chased down the firefighter. Before she took him down and the rest of the 126 found her, Marjan’s injuries led to her seeing her younger self as a young girl she thought she had to save. Karam takes us inside the episode and teases drama ahead. How much had you known about Marjan’s road trip when she left the 126? Natacha Karam: By the time we shot that, I knew what was coming. Marjan’s return to Austin included a hell of a detour on Tuesday’s 9-1-1: Lone Star, which found the firefighter facing off against a familiar foe.
With Kylie safely en route to Florida by bus, a furious (and unfortunately free) Grant sought revenge on Marjan, running her off the road before literally hunting her down with the intent to murder. The grueling hour chronicled Marjan’s desperate fight to escape — and ultimately kill — her attacker, all while protecting a young girl named “Mouse,” whose friend and friend’s parents died in a car accident caused by Grant and Marjan’s chase.

Marjan’s (Natacha Karam) on her way back to where she belongs in the March 21 episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star… only for something to go wrong, as TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek teases. Almost everyone’s waiting at Owen’s (Rob Lowe) — T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein), Judd (Jim Parrack), Paul (Brian Michael Smith), Carlos (Rafael Silva), Mateo (Julian Works), and Nancy (Brianna Baker) — but among those missing is one important person: the guest of honor. “Cap, I hate to say it, but I think you’re going to have to put your salmon canapés back in the fridge,” Judd tells Owen. “This is a disaster,” the 126’s captain says. “Where is she?” Marjan’s phone goes straight to voicemail, and it shouldn’t be because she doesn’t have service, nor should it should be an issue of whether she can hear on the road with her motorcycle helmet on.

Owen and Andrea are the dynamic duo I didn't realize we needed.
As the doting, loving parents of T.K. and Carlos, obsessed with planning the perfect wedding for them on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 8, it's enough to make you long for more storylines that directly involve the Strand and Reyes family.
And catching up with Marjan on the road was such an adventure!
It was another installment that was light on emergency calls and most of the cast, but this time, it didn't feel quite as frustrating because the continuity was strong enough, and things flowed.
The emergency call with Wesley and his father was a heck of a way to kickstart the installment. And their rescue was something out of Operation.
Kevin set the tone for an hour full of control freaks, whether they were well-meaning, like Owen, or abusive, like Grant.
It was great...

The 126 responds to a downright electrifying call!
Keeping up with the long list of exciting emergency calls for the squad, Owen leads the team when they respond to a father and son duo on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 8, who finds themselves in a terrifying situation.
Seriously, how on earth did this father/son duo end up with their car stuck in an electric pole?
From what we know from the synopsis, a student-driving situation goes awry when a father and his son end up stuck on an electrical pole, and the team has to work quickly to get them out without further injury.
They have many factors to contend with here, one being that they must figure out how to get these two out of a hunk of metal that's a conductor that could electrocute them at any given moment.
Owen has some advice for Paul and Mateo,...

Paul’s journey took a surprising turn on Tuesday’s 9-1-1: Lone Star when a reminder from his past caused him to examine a part of himself he left behind a long time ago.
Asha and Paul reminiscing about their childhood basketball team caused the firefighter to reflect upon an aspect of himself that he unwittingly abandoned when he transitioned. In speaking with Owen and doing a bit of soul searching, Paul concluded that some pieces of his past are worth preserving — and a new hoop in the firehouse is a pretty good place to start.

My problem is that I’m always comparing books with other books, or just wanting things out of them that they never promised. This is, of course, a Me Problem, and I try to tamp it down when it hits.
I have a major case today, but I’m going to try to be fair to Nayra and the Djinn , a fine new graphic novel by Iasmin Omar Ata with lovely colors, a positive story, and a message that will resonate with a whole lot of readers younger than I am. Nayra is officially published today; you should be able to find it in all the usual ways and places you find books.
You see, I recently read another book about wishes, Djinni-adjacent, connected to Egyptian culture and Islam – Deena Mohamed’s Shubeik Lubeik – and anything I say about Ata’s YA book could well be me wanting it to...

Owen’s stint as an FBI informant came to an end on Tuesday’s episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star. Unfortunately, not everyone stuck around long enough to see how that story ended.
Determined to prevent the impending terrorist attack at any cost, Owen cowboy’d his way into Honor Dogs HQ and demanded answers from Red. The catch? He didn’t actually know anything, though that didn’t stop the FBI from raiding the bar and rounding up Red’s men for questioning.

Marjan has exited the building (temporarily).
In many ways, 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 5 returned to form with more emphasis on the group and focusing on some of the other characters, namely Marjan and Grace.
But no one could've anticipated that ending.
Of all the calls that could've gotten Marjan in trouble, who would've envisioned it was Lila and Mitch, the "crazy" couple from the mobile home fiasco?
The very thought that Marjan would endure all of this and that the Fd would sanction the couple's money grab to avoid a lawsuit is absolutely absurd.
The organization lost a good fighter because they wouldn't fight for her against money-grabbing opportunists who can't take accountability for their own actions.
Marjan is nothing if not noble, and she follows her own moral code of conduct. Marjan knows who and what she is and always walks her path with pride.

In a stunning turn of events, our favorite badass firefighter rode off into the sunset on Owen's motorcycle after resigning from the department.
If you're still reeling from the events that transpired during 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 5, particularly the ending with Marjan, fret not.
TV Fanatic had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Natacha Karam about Marjan's noble decision and what's next for her, and thankfully, Marjan's journey is only just beginning. Check out our exclusive interview!
Jumping into everything. Oh my gosh! I was shocked. Of all the calls that Marjan could have gotten in trouble for...
Right! Right.
I was surprised that it was this one. What was your reaction when you read the script?
Obviously, at the time, I didn't know that that was what would happen. And then a few scripts later, the story comes back, and I was like, "Oh, my God!" I just saved this couple.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 5 “Human Resources.”] On 9-1-1: Lone Star, when someone at the 126 is facing a complaint, everyone just assumes it’s Owen (Rob Lowe), even if he hasn’t hit anyone lately. But that’s not the case this time. Instead, it’s Marjan (Natacha Karam), with the woman she rescued from her mobile home as her husband drove off with it — and her still inside it — claiming the firefighter’s use of the word “crazy” made her feel unsafe. The (reunited!) couple wanted Marjan to post a public apology on social media with a link to their GoFundMe … or face a lawsuit. Marjan ultimately decides to quit — via a video she shares online — and leaves behind the 126 (for now?). Karam assures us she’s not going anywhere and teases what’s ahead for Marjan. This isn’t goodbye for you, right? Natacha Karam: No. There is processing ...

Who took Carlos?!
One of their own goes missing unexpectedly on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 4, and T.K. is beside himself with worry.
Things get even more intense with Owen and his work with the F.B.I. and Honor Dogs.
It was painful to watch not only everyone around Iris question whether or not her abduction was real but her wondering if her own mind was playing tricks on her too.
Carlos is a good friend, and even though he has some reservations, it doesn't stop him from heading to the house where they found Iris and searching for any clues that would suggest that what she endured wasn't some figment of her imagination.
By the end of 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 3, he got his answer, but it came at a price.

The good news is we have Iris back! Of course, the bad news is that now Carlos is gone.
And this is why you should always have a buddy with you, unless you're Owen, because, by the end of 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 3, it was crystal clear that he sucks at choosing buddies.
It was another installment that was light on actual calls and heavy on arcs that will fundamentally affect a couple of characters.
As far as calls go, the team showing up at a cliff because a mentally ill man threw his sex doll over as outsiders thought it was a real woman wasn't something I could've envisioned.
These are classic Lone Star things.
Although, I'm having a tough time with how often the series is leaning into making mentally ill people the butt of the joke. Iris' reintroduction was played up for laughs in many of her scenes,...

Where on earth is Iris?!
You could say 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 2 left us with a few mysteries, with Iris seemingly disappearing without a trace and O'Brien taking Owen goodness knows where because of the Honor Dog situation.
Despite those cliffhangers, the hour was light on rescues and the rest of the cast.
On the rescue front, the opening call was entertaining. Marjan and T.K.'s friendship is always a treat to witness, and who doesn't love it when Marjan does something daring and badass?
Paul once again got to show off his intellectual abilities and how quick he was on his feet with the solution for how to trap Mitch, even if it was Owen who took credit for it in the end.
Moments with those two made you long for more screentime for them and lament that we haven't had much to go on...

There isn't much Marjan Marwani hasn't done, and we love her for it!
Our girl is all prepared to have an exciting save on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 2, when the 126 responds to a rather unorthodox domestic call.
And in true Lone Star fashion, there are no half-measures with this particular call.
TV Fanatic scored an exclusive sneak peek at tonight's episode, and we're thrilled to share it with you.
There is so much on tap for an hour that has some interesting personal developments for a couple of characters and has Owen embarking on a new misadventure that is bound to be ill-advised.
The episode synopsis teases that Owen will have a run-in with former adversary turned begrudging colleague, Sergeant O'Brien.
Neal McDonough is reprising the role of Sgt. O'Brien, and it's as funny and entertaining as you'd expect. He and Lowe have great, unmissable chemistry.

Our girl is all prepared to have an exciting save on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 2, when the 126 responds to a rather unorthodox domestic call.
And in true Lone Star fashion, there are no half-measures with this particular call.

As much as we love television, not everything makes the grade.
It can be difficult when a show we love betrays its characters for the sake of drama or when certain aspects feel phoned-in.
From awful characters, overly traumatic plotlines, terrible episodes, and more -- sometimes we have to call it as we see it.
The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 4 - "Gently Falling Rain" (Hulu)
Of the numerous problematic plot lines The Orville introduced, the Planetary Union's interactions with the Krill are the worst.
Specifically, Captain Mercer commits mass murder aboard a Krill ship, then unknowingly becomes emotionally and physically involved with a Krill spy, and then tops it off with some general war crimes.
As if that wasn't enough, the writers somehow thought adding a child to the mix was a good idea -- one born of Mercer and Teleya's relationship before she was revealed to be a Krill survivor of the Yakar.

The next big YA fantasy is here.
At least, that’s what Simon & Schuster hopes as it sets the release date and debuts the cover art for Once There Was, a fantasy novel intended for all ages from Kiyash Monsef, a California-based, Emmy-nominated producer and writer who will be making his book debut with an April 4, 2023 publishing date.
Hollywood is also pinning its hopes on this possible next big thing, with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment, the banner behind recent films Thirteen Lives and tick, tick…Boom!, picking up the screen rights to develop a film adaptation.
Both New York publishing and Hollywood went all in for YA fantasy around 25 years ago when J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone took the world by storm, blasting the door wide open for new authors, new stories and new movies.
