The B2B meetings at Mumbai’s annual Frames media conference have now bloomed into the full-fledged Global Content Market under the guidance of veteran producer Bobby Bedi.
Bedi’s credits include some of the landmark titles of Indian cinema, including Shekhar Kapur’s international breakthrough film “Bandit Queen” (1994), Deepa Mehta’s controversial “Fire” (1996), Rani Mukerji-starring relationship drama “Saathiya” (2002), Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Macbeth” adaptation “Maqbool” (2003), Stanley Tong’s Jackie Chan starrer “The Myth” (2005) and Gurvinder Singh’s Rotterdam title “Crescent Night” (2002).
The market, which was buzzing from the get go, boasted a significant international presence from the U.K., Korea, Turkey, Spain, Germany and Saudi Arabia, besides a sizeable Indian contingent. Bedi said that the word ‘Asian’ suggests mainly content from the Far East and the Frames market plugs the gap for South Asian and Middle Eastern content. Exclusive: Tour de Force director to adapt Tc Boyle’s cult novel Water Music.
Tour de Force’s Christian Zübert is looking to make his first English-language directorial debut with an adaptation of Tc Boyle’s cult novel Water Music.
Boyle’s semi-fictional historical adventure novel is set in the late 18th and early 19th century, following the parallel adventures and intertwining fates of its protagonists, the fictional petty criminal Ned Rise and the famous Scottish-born explorer Mungo Park who led expeditions into Western Africa.
Speaking exclusively to Screen ahead of Tour de Force’s North American premiere at Tiff tonight [Sept 8], Zübert said that Water Music is “a combination of Indiana Jones in Africa and an 18th century Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. It’s really off-the-wall and very emotional. I think it would now be the time where one could make this film thanks to the possibilities of digital technology.”

Meanwhile, her sister has had the "good" idea of bringing an ex-boyfriend from Paris and there is the pressure of an upcoming photography exhibition...(more) Cast: Julie Delpy, Chris Rock and Dylan Baker List Worthy Reasons...: The notion of sequels are made more magical whenever Julie Delpy is involved. Her writing and character development in Linklater's Before Sunrise/Sunset makes us especially hopeful for her 2 Days transatlantic gigs. #02. 2 Days in New York - Julie Delpy 2 Days in Paris premiered at the Berlin Int. Film Festival in 2007 and we think there is no reason why 2 Days in New York won't be presented there as well. Technically out of the way is her 2011 film Skylab, which was shown at San Sebastián, so my thinking is this shot in the U.S sequel without a North American distributor might want to logically make a first pitstop in Park City. Part one grossed just over 4 million in art-house box office receipts for Samuel Goldwyn, with a NYC-backdrop, zany cast of chracters from different backgrounds including Chris Rock in the line-up this rom com could easily grab a Premieres section showing. Gist: Scripted by Delpy, 2 Days in New York centres again on French woman Marion (Delpy), who has broken up with Jack and now lives in New York with their children.
