I have an opinion: "Slasher" is better than "American Horror Story."
Maybe that's not so controversial to say in 2023, when the popular horror anthology series created by Ryan Murphy hasn't had a good season in almost five years, and hasn't had a great one in over 10. "AHS" premiered in 2011, the same year that the sci-fi/technology-run-amok anthology series "Black Mirror" premiered. Curiously, though "Black Mirror" was just as popular, and was covered as furiously as "AHS" was in its prime, its influence on subsequent sci-fi visions seems to have jumped mediums to film. One can imagine pressing play on a new season of "Black Mirror" and watching films like "Ex-Machina," "The Circle," and "Vivarium," were a few minutes shaved off each.
"AHS," however, spawned a veritable renaissance in horror anthology series, from HBO's "Room 104," to Hulu's "Castle Rock," to Syfy's "Channel Zero." Before "AHS," you'd have to...

The latest chapter of Slasher is well underway.
On Slasher: Ripper Episode 3, Basil (Eric McCormack) is on a mission to unmask the Widow.
In doing so, he realizes that someone from his rich inner circle might be responsible.
If the Widow taught us anything in the first two episodes of this Shudder and AMC+ drama, they are ready to dole out justice towards the elite.
As a result, people are dropping like flies, and it looks like Basil and his powerful friends are harboring a fateful secret about an event several years before.
In an exclusive clip shared with TV Fanatic, we see the extent Basil is willing to go to get answers.
He's not the nicest person, but he strikes me as the kind of person who will find answers easier than some other characters.
With power and influence, it's easier to get things done, but in the Slasher sandbox,...

We're only a day away from the two-episode premiere of Slasher: Ripper on Shudder and AMC+, and not only do we have an exclusive clip just for Daily Dead readers, but director Adam MacDonald (Pyewacket) provided us with some behind-the-scenes details!
Synopsis: "Slasher: Ripper takes the franchise back in time to the late 19th century and follows Basil Garvey (McCormack), a charismatic tycoon whose success is only rivaled by his ruthlessness, as he oversees a city on the cusp of a new century, and a social upheaval that will see its streets run red with blood. There’s a killer stalking the mean streets, but instead of targeting the poor and downtrodden like Jack the Ripper, The Widow is meting out justice against the rich and powerful. The only person standing in the way of this killer is the newly promoted detective, Kenneth Rijkers, whose ironclad belief in justice may...

If you care to complete the above sentence after you’ve watched this, you’ll doubtless be scribbling superlatives because From the Vine is as entertaining as much as it is eccentric yet easy-going.
It’s hard to imagine a more deserved screening at Devour! The Food Film Fest, which is where it made its North American premiere in 2019 – not since Silence of the Lambs has Italian wine has been used to such effect on-screen.
Based on the little-known Kenneth Canio Cancellara novel, Finding Marco, Marco Gentile (Joe Pantoliano) is a Toronto high-flyer who seems to have it all – or does he? Cue a mid-life crisis with a difference, much to the consternation of his wife Marina (Wendy Crewson) and daughter Laura (Paula Brancati).

"If you build this vineyard in honour of your grandfather, it can become everyone's dream." Indiecan Ent. has released an official trailer for an indie drama titled From the Vine, adapted from the novel "Finding Marco" by Kenneth Canio Cancellara. This played at the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest in Italy last year, and also stopped by the Napa Valley and Naples Film Festivals. The story follows a man who has an "ethical crisis" and returns to his hometown in rural Italy, where he finds new purpose reviving his grandfather's old vineyard, and figuring out a sustainable future for the small town nearby. Joe Pantoliano stars as Marco, with a cast including Paula Brancati, Marco Leonardi, Wendy Crewson, Tony Nardi, Tony Nappo, Franco Lo Presti, and Kevin Hanchard. This looks mostly harmless and drunk-on-wine fun, but it gets weird when the moon starts talkin'. This plays like an amusing Italy...

Drake’s former castmates from “Degrassi: The Next Generation” had a blast reuniting for his latest video, “I’m Upset,” shot this past weekend in downtown Toronto from the Air Canada Centre, where the rap star’s beloved Raptors play basketball, in addition to the Degrassi set in north Toronto, where the long-running teen drama still films.
He released the video Wednesday night and it already has more than 2.5 million views on YouTube.
From 2001 to 2009, Drake, then known by his birth name Aubrey Graham, played Jimmy Brooks in the series, a rich kid who ends up in a wheelchair after getting shot.
He appeared in over 100 episodes, and again in “Degrassi: Minis” (2005-2007). He also released his first mixtape, “Room For Improvement,” in 2007.

If the success of Nina Dobrev, Shenae Grimes and Landon Liboiron have taught us anything, it’s that not all Degrassi stars are created equal. Yet what is it about the iconic Canadian series that has allowed so many talented young actors to successfully transition to bigger and arguably better things? No one is more qualified to answer that question than executive producer Stefan Brogren, who since graduating himself from the original series in 1989 has spent the better part of 10 years shepherding the “Next Generation” to infinity and beyond courtesy of what he calls the best theater school money can’t buy.
“I think it has a lot to do with the show’s caring environment that allows young actors to flourish,” admitted Brogren when asked what it is about Degrassi that has turned it into such a powerful star-making vehicle. “Our kids are getting a lot of education while...

Although CBC, a Canadian public TV network, hasn't formally made an announcement, The Cultural Post has a strong proof that the TV series Being Erica got renewed for a third season. Therefore, this is not an attempt to spread a rumour on the net.
First of all, according to the Ontario Media Development Corporation (Omdc), the third season of this show created by Jana Sinyor will be in production from May 17 to October 15.
Moreover, since there's no formal announcement of CBC that The Cultural Post can speak of, this also means that there are no details about the third season's story. Nonetheless, if any of you don't know what Being Erica is all about, here's a description of the synopsis.
Erica Strange (Erin Karpluk) is a woman of 32 years old. Since the events of the first season, she has been in relation with Ethan Wakefield (Tyron Leitso), a school teacher.

First of all, I'd like to thank my fellow countryman Mike for finding this news story. Yesterday was a big day for Erin Karpluk. Not only was it the premiere of Being Erica's second season on SoapNet, but she also gave an interview on The View, a talk-show hosted by Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd.
For those who don't know, Being Erica is a Canadian TV series about Erica Strange (Erin Karpluk), a woman in her thirties, who come across Dr. Tom (Michael Riley), a mysterious therapist. Of course, Erica doesn't talk about her therapies to her best friends (Vinessa Antoine, Paula Brancati and Sebastian Pigott), her boyfriend (Tyron Leitso) or her sister (Joanna Douglas) just to name a few of her relatives.

Dear American readers, according to Vlada over at Staying In, SOAPnet, an American cable network, has just unveiled the promo for Being Erica's second season. This dramedy (no, it's not a soap opera!) will premiere in the USA on January 20, 2010 at 10 Pm on SOAPnet.
The second season begins right where the first season's finale left us. Will Dr. Tom (Michael Riley) still be Erica Strange's (Erin Karpluk) therapist? In her daily life, Erica Strange still works for a publisher, has a boyfriend and still has past regrets to fix. Besides trying to help herself through time travelling, Erica also wonders if she can help other people around her like her friend Jenny (Paula Brancatti) or even Judith (Vinessa Antoine), for instance. Of course, Erica doesn't want to talk about her therapy to people she knows.
