These weren’t your grandfather’s CMA Awards… or even yours, from, say five years ago. A new generation has been firmly installed, between the big look for Lainey Wilson, who is only on her second major-label album but was named entertainer of the year, and other winners from Luke Combs to Hardy, who were also unknown a decade ago. When Chris Stapleton suddenly nearly seems like the “old guard” after only six years of accruing awards, things have changed.

Canada’s country queen was a whiplash-inducing head-turner as she walked the 2023 Grammys red carpet on Sunday night, rocking a surrealist fit.
Shania Twain donned a white Harris Reed suit covered in giant black polka dots, along with a ten-gallon hat in a matching print. Rounding out the look was Twain’s scorching red hair — after she debuted platinum blonde locks just days ago.

Updated, 5:33 p.m.: Brad Paisley, Carly Pearce, and Jamey Johnson have signed up to perform at the memorial service for five-time Grammy winner Naomi Judd, with Bette Midler, Reba McEntire and Reese Witherspoon being enlisted to deliver special messages, and Judd’s husband Larry Strickland being added to the list of speakers.
Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts is hosting the event, titled Naomi Judd: A River of Time Celebration, which will take place at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. CMT will exclusively televise the memorial as a commercial-free special tomorrow at 6 p.m. Pt / 5 p.m. Ct.
Previously announced musicians set to perform include Ashley McBride, Brandi Carlile, the duo of Emmylou Harris & Allison Russell, Gaither Vocal Band and Little Big Town. Bono, Morgan Freeman, Oprah Winfrey and Salma Hayek will also deliver special messages, with additional speakers to include Naomi’s daughters Ashley and Wynonna Judd, and singer-songwriter Martina McBride.
