"Don't listen to everything your father says." Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a Mexican satire dramedy film called Down the Rabbit Hole, by Mexican filmmaker Manolo Caro. Down the Rabbit Hole is the alternate English title for this, also known as Fiesta en la Madriguera in Spanish, based on the book of the exact same name. Raised in opulence and culture, 10-year-old Tochtli's lavish life contrasts with the darkness that seeps in from his father's criminal activities. This is about a young Mexican kid who wants a hippo above all else. It reminds me of the story of Pablo Escobar's infamous "cocaine hippos", which might be part of the influence (or reference) for why this kid wants one anyway. Miguel Valverde Uribe stars as Tochtli, a particularly intelligent and precocious boy who at first glance seems to have everything, and when he doesn't, his father, Yolcaut, will do...

In perhaps one of her meatiest roles since Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma,” Oscar-nominated thesp Yalitza Aparicio stars in Prime Video’s upcoming series “Cometierra,” created by its showrunner Daniel Burman, The Mediapro Studio’s head of content for the U.S., Mexico and Central America.
Principal photography is underway, predominantly in Mexico, with some scenes shot in Uruguay.
Inspired by the bestselling debut novel of Argentine writer-activist Dolores Reyes, “Cometierra,” meaning Eartheater in English, is a supernatural drama steeped in magical realism that follows Aylín, a young girl from the rough outskirts of Mexico City.
She unexpectedly gains the extraordinary ability to commune with the earth beneath her feet, a gift that propels her into a world of crime-solving and clashes with malevolent forces lurking in her past. With the help of her fellow misfits, Aylín finds her true identity while navigating a community plagued by violence and grappling with...

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” co-star Tenoch Huerta has dropped out of the upcoming Netflix film “Fiesta en la Madriguera,” saying Wednesday in a statement provided to TheWrap that “My focus now is simple: continue the process of restoring my reputation” following accusations of sexual assault earlier this month.
Huerta was accused of being a “sexual predator” by Mexican musician and activist María Elena Ríos. Huerta has denied those accusations, calling them “completely unsubstantiated.”
“Given the impact of the recent false statements by María Elena Ríos and the damage they have caused, I have no choice but to withdraw from participating in the film ‘Fiesta en la Madriguera,’ Huerta said in a statement to TheWrap. “It is with great sadness that I do this, but I cannot allow her actions to harm not only me, but also the work of dozens of talented and hard-working people involved in the project. Exclusive: Starzplay has cast Tessa Ía (De Brutas), Martín Saracho (Who Killed Sara?), and Lizeth Selene (Rebelde) as the leads for the Spanish-language dramedy series Yellow (w/t). Production officially kicked off on the project in Mexico City on Thursday.
Ía will portray “Dan” who is described as someone who is extremely competitive and who thinks winning by cheating is worth twice as much. Dan finds “Nico”, played by Selene, to be her impossible love. Nico is described as sincere to the point of being abrasive, someone who has the heart of a child, and who lives without constraints.
Saracho will play Richie, a failed former Formula 1 driver whose promising career ended after a catastrophic accident forced him to stop racing and is now a taxi driver.
From Sofía Auza and Silviana Aguirre, Yellow tells the story of Dan and Nico, two female fugitives who steal a stick-shift taxi to escape from the authorities.

Netflix revealed a first look at the “Rebelde” 2022 reboot today at its aptly-named global fan event Tudum, taking fans of the nostalgic telenovela back to the halls of Elite Way School.
The reboot of the wildly popular Mexican teen musical dramedy of the early-aughts, directed by Santiago Limón, seems to have taken a page from “Elite,” opting to put the students in preppy uniforms, rather than the iconic scanty skirts and cropped blouses of its predecessor. But, like the “Rebelde” we all know and love, the clip Netflix shared shows that there’ll be no shortage of musical acts.
The new generation of students are as follows: Azul Guaita as Jana Cohen, Sergio Mayer Mori as Estebán, Andrea Chaparro as M.J., Jeronimo Cantillo as Dixon, Franco Masini as Luka Colucci, Lizeth Selene as Andi, Alejandro Puente as Sebastián Langarica-Funtanet and Giovanna Grigio as Emilia. Estefanía Villarreal will reprise her role as Celina Ferrer,...
