We don't have to waste time wondering if the Broadchurch TV show will be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season. More than a year ahead of this installment's premiere on BBC America, creator Chris Chibnall made it clear he was working toward a third and final season. We’re still tracking the Broadchurch season three ratings, for a couple of reasons. It can help predict the likelihood of a spin-off, sequel, or later revival. It also helps us gauge the chances of other BBC America shows. What's more -- it keeps us off the streets at night. Two new horror adaptations are coming to BBC Radio 4 this Halloween as part of Fright Night, The Stone Tape and The Ring…
While all the cool kids will be tripping over high heels and falling out of Borat mankinis on sticky dancefloors this Saturday the 31st of October, all the really cool kids will be elsewhere come Halloween: headphones on, mug of spooky cocoa in hand, listening to BBC Radio 4.
As part of Radio 4’s first annual Fright Night of Halloween programming, two exciting horror dramas are on their way: The Stone Tape, adapted from Nigel “Quatermass” Kneale’s 1972 television play, and The Ring, adapted from Koji Sozuki’s 1991 film franchise-spawning novel.
Kneale’s television play, first broadcast in 1972 as a BBC Christmas ghost story, tells the tale of a group of scientists investigating a haunted mansion whose walls are thought to have absorbed and recorded past events. It’s...

Chris Chibnall has hit back at Broadchurch critics, defending series two's portrayal of the trial process.
In a column for The Guardian, the writer insisted that the ITV thriller's latest episodes - which saw Joe Miller (Matthew Gravelle) on trial for murder - were "devised as the result of months of research and consultation".
"Before we started to plot or write, we researched trials of the past 20 years and attended criminal proceedings," he explained. "Alongside a respected police adviser from the first series, we brought on highly-qualified, experienced and practising members of the legal profession.
"Critics argued the defence wouldn't be allowed to suggest Mark Latimer (Andrew Buchan) as an alternate killer. Our advisers were - and remain (I checked) - adamant on this: if they were defending, they could and would run this approach.
"Others thought the cross-examination of Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) in the witness box was unrealistic: our police adviser told me,...

The morning after screening the first four episodes of the sophomore season of “Broadchurch,” I noted my initial impressions on Twitter, an assessment of which I am only more convinced after a few days of reflection. “Review: ‘Broadchurch,’ Season Two,” I wrote. “Kill it. Kill it with fire.” Having spent the five months since I reviewed the extraordinary first season praising the small-town mystery to everyone who would listen, a bit of hyperbole seems only fair: shunning the unassuming precision of its debut for high dudgeon and overwrought dramatics, the crime drama, which returns to BBC America Wednesday, is now but a shell of its former self. Read: “‘Gracepoint’ vs. ‘Broadchurch,’ or the Problem with Remakes” The new season courts the danger of high expectations from the opening minutes, setting the table for the trial of accused child molester and murderer Joe Miller (Matthew Gravelle) with a superb, fleet-footed sequence...

On its second go-around, Broadchurch has split viewers and critics - some were left underwhelmed by the new series of Chris Chibnall's coastal crime thriller, while others were still hooked every Monday night.
So why the divide? I'm of the opinion that Broadchurch 2 was neither an outright success or a complete misfire. Some elements (both old and new) worked, while others fell flat.
Here's my take on this series' pros and cons - join the conversation and share your own thoughts in the comments section.
What worked...
David Tennant and Olivia Colman

Broadchurch star Matthew Gravelle has spoken about filming Joe Miller's trial.
The actor - who plays the killer on ITV's crime drama - said that it was "a strange experience" working on the show's second series as he was kept away from the other actors.
He told The Sun: "It was a strange experience because I was kept away from the other actors for the first scenes. But I then found I was keeping myself away from people quite a bit.
"It worked well because it increased the tension. When we finally filmed the verdict scenes and the actor playing the court clerk said, 'Do you find the defendant, Joseph Michael Miller, guilty or not guilty?' my heart was racing. I felt like I really was on trial.

At the end of the first series of Broadchurch we finally had the answer to a twisting-turning whodunit.
Joe Miller (Matthew Gravelle), paramedic husband of Di Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman), confessed to the murder of Danny Latimer, and we the viewers saw how it all panned out in an eerie flashback.
What looked like an open and shut case has become something very different in the last seven weeks.
After Joe's shock not guilty plea in the first episode, the failings of the prosecution case - procedural rather than in matters of truth or falsehood - have been unravelled by Sharon Bishop QC (Marianne Jean-Baptiste).
So tenacious has Sharon been, that it seems entirely likely that in next week's finale, Joe Miller could be found not guilty.
Do you think the writers would dare let Joe off the hook for a murder we all saw him commit last series? Vote...

Matthew Gravelle has joked his wife is wary of leaving their children alone with him after he was unveiled as a killer in 'Broadchurch'. The 38-year-old actor's character was revealed as the killer of 12-year-old Danny Latimer, whose body was found at the bottom of a cliff, at the end of the first series of the ITV drama and he's now joked his wife Mali Harries has been slightly worried about letting him look after their children Tomi and Ela on his own. He said: ''My wife still finds me attractive so that's something. My ego is unchanged. I'm still at home...

Broadchurch actor Arthur Darvill has compared the level of secrecy during filming to going undercover as a spy.
During an appearance on This Morning today (Wednesday, January 7), Darvill's co-star Matthew Gravelle also revealed the lengths that he went to in hiding the fact that he was appearing in the second series.
Gravelle plays Joe Miller, the character who was revealed to be Danny Latimer's killer at the end of the first series. His role in series two of the hit crime drama was only unveiled when the premiere episode aired on Monday night (January 5).

Broadchurch actor Matthew Gravelle has spoken about his return to the ITV mystery drama.
During an appearance on Lorraine, the actor spoke about needing to wear a disguise on set to avoid being spotted.
Gravelle, who plays Danny Latimer's killer Joe Miller in the ITV crime drama, said: "Actually when we were filming, I did have to go around in a wig and glasses with my hood up, just in case."
He also said that although he hasn't received any negative responses from the public after being revealed as Danny's killer, he did need to warn his children that it was "pretend".
Gravelle said: "The [children] get it, they just know that [acting is] what we [me and my wife] do and they know it's pretend so they're not affected by it.

Broadchurch series two eases back into its investigation with clockwork-precise plotting and characteristically strong performances…
Warning: this review contains spoilers.
Emerging mercifully intact from under the geological pressure of its own success, the first hour of Broadchurch series two was a work of expert manipulation. Chris Chibnall’s script orchestrated the audience response with a conductor’s precision, sweeping down his baton before each ad break, cueing a collective gasp or note of creeping suspicion. The end result? We’re all hooked of course. As was ITV’s plan.
The first episode was more a mathematical achievement than anything else. Its geometric design neatly re-erected Broadchurch’s major playing pieces, unpacked a box of newcomers and strung up lines of enquiry between them all leading off into the horizon.
The hour reminded us - a little too forcefully and too often perhaps - that nobody’s innocent and everybody’s hiding things.

Warning: This article contains spoilers about the Gracepoint season finale that some readers may wish to avoid.
Gracepoint has revealed Danny Solano's killer in the season finale, which aired in the Us last night (December 11).
Tom Miller - Ellie and Joe's son played by Jack Irvine - accidentally hit Danny with an oar while trying to defend him against Joe (Josh Hamilton).
The victim was initially chased by Joe after Ellie's husband made sexual advances towards him.
Joe ends up being arrested and faces charges over Danny's death.
In original UK series Broadchurch, Joe (Matthew Gravelle) was revealed to be the murderer of Danny Latimer, strangling the boy after fearing the truth about his feelings for Danny would be exposed.
Fox boss Kevin Reilly said back in January that Gracepoint would have a "different" climax to Broadchurch.
"We're doing 10 episodes, they did eight," he said when defending the remake. "We have a different ending,...

New Son Of God movie delivered a mediocre version of Jesus' story & more. 20th Century Fox released their new drama flick, "Son Of God," into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was pretty mediocre at best. I actually thought the 2000 TV version ,named "Jesus," delivered a much better version of the Jesus story. This one stars: Diogo Morgado, Greg Hicks, Adrian Schiller, Darwin Shaw, Sebastian Knapp, Joe Wredden, Simon Kunz, Paul Marc Davis, Matthew Gravelle, Amber Rose Revah, and Roma Downey. Basically, this movie was just another rehashed telling of the story of Jesus the Christ, and it really came off that way. It showed his humble birth and all of his most popular miracles he performed like healing the crippled man, finding all the fish in the water, raising Lazarus from the dead ,and more. We also saw the drama he incurred with Pharisees,...

Broadchurch stars Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan have revealed that they are uncertain if they will be back for series two.

Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall has revealed that he always planned to write a sequel.
ITV made the surprise announcement that the hit crime drama will return for a second series following Monday night's (April 22) first series finale.
"During the very first meeting I had with Peter Fincham [ITV's director of television], I pitched the idea for Broadchurch and added with great bravado that if people liked it, there was another story we could do afterwards," Chibnall told The Daily Telegraph.
Despite the huge popularity of Broadchurch - with a peak audience of 9.27m tuning in for the finale - Chibnall added that the decision to go ahead with a second run is not about "chasing ratings".
"It will be a very different type of story, rather than chasing ratings or repeating what we've already done," he said. "It will be bold and surprise people."

Writer Chris Chibnall phoned Matthew to tell him his alter-ego - the husband of DS Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) - was the schoolboy's killer, but up until then the former 'Torchwood' star admitted not knowing who...

Broadchurch actor Matthew Gravelle has revealed that he struggled to keep his role in the finale episode secret.
Gravelle's character Joe Miller - the husband of detective Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) - was revealed to be Danny Latimer's killer in Monday's final episode of the ITV drama.
The actor explained that he had to lie to fans who asked him for information about the finale, after Joe became the bookmakers' favourite to be the killer.
Gravelle told The Sun: "I don't think anyone expected this kind of response from the audience, because this kind of drama happens so rarely on TV.
"The worst of the questioning had been in the school yard. When I was dropping the kids off, the parents of their friends were coming up from the start.
"Initially, they were joking that they didn't think the killer was me. But by the end they were all slightly...
