Sirius Black is one of the fan-favorite characters of the Harry Potter franchise, despite actually having little screen time compared to some other prominent characters. The love for Black comes from ‘Harry Potter’ fans who read the books – and those who really cherish and appreciate the performance that Gary Oldman had given us as Sirius.
However, Gary Oldman himself isn’t a big fan of his performance as Sirius Black. He debuted in the role in 2004’s ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ and absolutely nailed it in the eyes of fans. In his own opinion, however, he could’ve done a lot better. Speaking on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast recently, Oldman called his performance in the franchise ‘mediocre’:
“I think my work is mediocre in it. No, I do. Maybe if I had read the books like Alan [Rickman], if I had got ahead of the curve,...

Gary Oldman doesn’t think his work at Hogwarts was all that magical.
In an interview with Josh Horowitz during the latest “Happy Sad Confused” podcast released Thursday (via Entertainment Weekly), Oldman spoke about his stint as an ensemble member of the popular “Harry Potter” blockbuster franchise. Oldman portrayed the title character’s outlaw godfather, Sirius Black. He first appeared in the 2004 third film “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” later reprising the role in 2005’s “Goblet of Fire” and 2007’s “Order of the Phoenix,” after which his character was killed off. He made a final appearance in the series in a cameo for the seventh and final film, “Deathly Hallows — Part 2.”
Although Sirius is by now among Oldman’s most famous roles, the “Darkest Hour” Oscar winner admitted during the interview that he finds his performance in the films lackluster overall. Comparing his work in the movies to...

Pete Davidson’s semi-autobiographical comedy “Bupkis” has been renewed by NBCUniversal, the studio confirmed Friday. The Peacock comedy stars Edie Falco and Joe Pesci alongside the “Saturday Night Live” alum.
“Pete Davidson is a once-in-a-generation talent, and what he created with the first season of ‘Bupkis’ absolutely blew us away,” Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in a release. “Pete has the rare ability to make you laugh out loud with his unfiltered brand of comedy, and then tear up with his raw and honest vulnerability. We could not be more proud to continue on this journey with Pete, Lorne Michaels, Broadway Video, and our partners at Universal Television for a second season as we continue to bolster Peacock’s comedy slate.”
The first season of “Bupkis” was met with mixed reviews, with some critics calling the series “uneven,” while others (including TheWrap) said Davidson “masterfully...

I have to admit that when I see the name Opie, I immediately think of Mayberry, Andy Griffith and Ron Howard before he shaved. Now I understand that shock jock Anthony Cumia was fired last week by Sirius Xm for being, I think the technical term is, a tweeting moron. His on-air partner Greg Hughes — known to all by the same moniker as Sheriff Taylor’s kid — is said to be “devastated.”
Take heart, Opie — I promise, your Anthony will be back. Just remember what happened to Andy Rooney.
In the late winter of 1990 David Burke, the newly appointed president of CBS News, suspended Rooney, who was 71 at the time and the most popular cast-member of Sunday Night Live — I mean 60 Minutes — for three months. The trouble had begun a few weeks earlier, during a year-end special, when the curmudgeonly commentator expressed his opinion that “too much alcohol, too much food,...

The only thing riskier than being an enemy of Liberty Media’s John Malone is to be his friend — as Sirius Xm’s Mel Karmazin is discovering. They developed a corporate bromance in 2009 when Malone rescued the satellite radio company as it struggled to keep up with its debt payments: Liberty invested $530M, and received preferred stock convertible into 40% of Sirius’ voting shares. But Sirius has just disclosed that Malone quietly asked the FCC this month to give his company — in Liberty’s words — “de facto control of Sirius Xm Radio Inc.’s earth station licenses.” It seems that Malone, one of the media industry’s toughest negotiators, believes Liberty is entitled to take charge with the March 6 expiration of some conditions in the 2009 agreement that limited its ability to buy additional Sirius shares. Liberty’s filing set off alarm bells in Karmazin’s shop. Late Friday, Sirius asked the...

Journalist and attorney Allison Hope Weiner is a special correspondent to Deadline and files this exclusive breaking news:
Now it’s getting personal in Round Two of the legal war between Howard Stern and his satellite radio boss Mel Karmazin according to affidavits filed today by Stern and his longtime agent Don Buchwald, reviewed exclusively by me. Only last January, both Stern and Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin were basking in the glow of Stern’s new contract, with Howard praising how well he’d been treated. But it turns out that, even as Stern was inking the new 5-year pact, the two men were already clashing over Karmazin’s refusal to acknowledge that the company owed Stern additional performance-based stock awards because he exceeded the subscriber targets set in his original agreement with Sirius. Three months later, Stern and Buchwald sued the merged Sirius Xm. Now new details keep surfacing...
