On April 5th, 20th Century Studios will be giving a theatrical release to The First Omen, which serves as a prequel to the 1976 horror classic The Omen (watch it Here). Two weeks later, on April 19th, Universal will be releasing their latest monster movie, a Dracula’s Daughter project called Abigail. Today, the Motion Picture Association ratings board has announced that they have given R ratings to both of these horror films. The First Omen has earned its R rating for violent content, grisly/disturbing images, and brief graphic nudity. Meanwhile, Abigail has been rated R for strong bloody violence and gore throughout, pervasive language and brief drug use.
The First Omen was directed by Arkasha Stevenson, based on characters created by David Seltzer, with a story by Ben Jacoby. Stevenson crafted the screenplay with Tim Smith and Keith Thomas. Here’s the synopsis: When a young American woman is...

A vampire dance scene.

After successfully reviving the “Scream” series at Paramount, the horror movie team at Radio Silence has signed on to direct and produce a new horror film for Universal, sources at the studio confirmed to TheWrap.
While plot details are being kept secret, Universal says that the project is being developed under the same filmmaker-driven philosophy behind Leigh Whannell’s 2020 remake of “The Invisible Man” and Chris McKay’s upcoming horror-comedy “Renfield.” After the demise of the studio’s short-lived Dark Universe, Universal pivoted to a new strategy of taking on projects based around filmmakers who have fresh takes on their stable of horror icons like Dracula.

Ranking up there with “Ryan Coogler rebooting The X-Files” as one of the most unexpected pieces of news today is the announcement that The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman will be producing a remake of the 1956 horror film The Mole People (watch it Here) for Universal Pictures. Deadline reports that the project was pitched by Christopher Winterbauer, director of the HBO Max Original Moonshot, who will be writing the screenplay. The news is surprising because The Mole People isn’t exactly one of the most popular titles in the Universal library.

Exclusive: Universal Pictures continues to tap into its classic monsters vault. The studio has acquired a pitch for a revamp of 1956 horror film The Mole People pitched by Chris Winterbauer, who’ll write the script.
In the new take, a woman travels to a town veiled in a conspiracy to rescue her grandchildren from their father. To do this, she must fight through hell in the underground tunnels where the Mole People reside. In the 1956 original, archaeologists stumble into the underground lair of a race of darkness-dwellers who can see in low light and have no pigmentation after being out of the light for so long. The high priest who rules the small pocket of mole people is threatened by the newcomers and wants them dead.

To honor the milestone anniversaries of some of cinema’s scariest legends, Universal Pictures launched the Universal Monsters: Out of the Shadows contest, which will be hosted on the Tongal content creation platform.
The art initiative calls for U.S. residents to create an original character inspired by Universal’s classic cast of monsters, including Dracula, The Wolfman, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy, Phantom of the Opera, Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Invisible Man. It runs from Feb. 11 through March 4 and hopes to discover visionary artists.
“We are seeking creatives who are drawn to the narrative that the Universal Monsters are the original outsiders, misfits and misunderstood,” said Holly Goline, a Universal film executive in charge of Universal Monsters.
Tasked with telling a story through one image of a creature, artists must create original, imaginative storytelling through their artistic medium of choice, whether...

Remember that time when Universal Pictures was building the hype for their epic Dark Universe monster movie franchise? Then Tom Cruise's The Mummy was released, and they just stopped talking about it and the whole thing just kind of faded away like it never happened and a bunch of producers dropped out. The second film in the franchise was supposed to be The Bride of Frankenstein, but it seemed like they pulled the plug on that.
We just assumed the Dark Universe thing had been abandoned, but it doesn't sound like that's the case. There was a recent Instagram post from artist Robert Vargas, that was discovered by Universal Monsters Universe, and it suggests that Universal Pictures hasn't given up on it yet.
Apparently, Vargas had a meeting last week with the Dark Universe team at Universal Pictures, and he says that he's "looking forward to contributing to the...

One of the more curious projects that has yet to screen this year is Angelina Jolie Pitt’s follow-up to Unbroken, the intimate drama By the Sea. Co-starring alongside her husband, Brad Pitt, Jolie also scripted the feature, which follows them as a couple on a getaway in 1970’s France. The story specifically finds Jolie as Vanessa, a former dancer and Pitt as Roland, a writer, both entangled in a crumbling marriage as they find rejuvenation after coming across a quiet, seaside village. Today now brings a promising new trailer for the film set to debut at AFI Fest soon.
“I wanted to suggest and guide and give hints to the audience but not bore them or reveal all before the film itself. I like trailers that don’t explain the whole film; that tell you exactly what to expect,” Angelina Jolie Pitt tells EW. “It isn’t my intention...

“But no man moved me till the tide / Went past my simple shoe /And past my apron and my belt / And past my bodice too / And made as he would eat me up / As wholly as a dew…”
Whether or not this poem by Emily Dickinson, published under the title By the Sea, served as inspiration for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s new film of the same name, the spirit seems to match up with its story of a woman caught in an undertow of passion and rejuvenation while visiting a seaside village with her husband.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie enjoyed a rare date night out together over the weekend. The Oscar-winning couple were spotted at the Troubador in West Hollywood on Friday night where the lovebirds caught a show by Japanese musician Miyavi (Miyavi also appears in Angie's upcoming film Unbroken). Pitt and Jolie were joined by her friend Holly Goline and a couple of bodyguards for their night out, a source tells E! News. After enjoying Miyavi's performance, Pitt and Jolie left through the back door at around 10:30 p.m. as photographers snapped pics of the A-list duo. Jolie looked cute and casual in skinny black pants, black heels and a black silk tank top. Meanwhile, Pitt sported boots, tan pants and a...

Angelina Jolie's lawyers have allegedly blamed last week's (ends30May08) false reports that the actress had given birth on an imposter - who has been posing as the star's assistant Holly Goline.
Two false alarms on Friday sent the media into a spin, with one outlet even claiming she had delivered two baby girls and named them Isla Marcheline and Amelie Jane - honouring Jolie's late mother Marcheline and her partner Brad Pitt's mum Jane.
But, according to internet gossips, the confusion was sparked by a woman who has been sending out fake information to the media pretending to be Goline.
It's alleged the imposter used a bogus BlackBerry email address to send out incorrect press releases in an attempt to dupe the media - and has been doing so for the last year.
Now, Jolie's attorneys at law firm Lavely + Singer are said to be circulating a letter among entertainment news outlets to explain the situation.
The letter reportedly reads,: "A random individual has engaged in a scheme to intentionally harm my client and deceive her fans, the public and the media through illegal and tortuous impersonation of Ms Jolie's long-time assistant, Holly.
"The individual who claims to be, and to whom the media has relied upon as, a 'reliable source' is not my client's assistant, nor does the email address belong to my client's assistant."...
