This fall, Ashley Tisdale will get to call Patricia Heaton mom. The actress has joined the cast of Heaton’s CBS sitcom Carol’s Second Act, replacing Bonnie Dennison as Carol’s daughter Jenny, our sister site Deadline reports.
Fortunately, the recasting won’t require too many reshoots, as Jenny was only introduced towards the end of the pilot. Jenny is a pharmaceutical rep assigned to the hospital where her mother is working as an intern. Per the official character description, her “bubbly and outgoing personality and carefree spirit is a buoyant counterpoint to Carol’s neurotic medical colleagues.”

CBS has ordered seven pilots to series for the 2019-20 season ahead of its upfront presentation to advertisers next week. The seven series are made up of four comedies and three dramas.
Among the comedies ordered at the broadcast network are Chuck Lorre’s “Bob Hearts Abishola,” Patricia Heaton’s “Carol’s Second Act” and “Broke” from “Jane the Virgin” creator Jennie Snyder Urman. The Peyton Reed-produced “The Unicorn” with Walton Goggins and Rob Corddry was also picked up.
Heaton starred on CBS’ “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “Broke” will see “NCIS” star Pauley Perrette return to the network. The pickups will maintain Lorre’s — who already has “Mom” and “Young Sheldon” coming back next season — strong relationship with the network, after “The Big Bang Theory” says farewell next week.

Tina Fey and Matt Hubbard's untitled Fox women's university comedy has landed on a familiar face for a key role.
Margaret Cho has come aboard the comedy unofficially known as "Cabot College," THR reports. The multicamera comedy takes place at a women's college that's opened its doors to men for the first time.
Cho will co-star in the series regular role of Laura Thibault, the president of Cabot College who made the tough decision to let men into the school. She's described as a divisive figure on campus who does her best to be welcoming to the male freshmen, but often finds herself irritated by their antics.
The series also stars Bonnie Dennison ("Third Watch") as Thena, a hard-core feminist sophomore who acts as leader of the population of Cabot College that doesn't want men on campus. Jack Cutmore-Scott co-stars as Charlie Deckard, a wealthy Kennedy-type who enrolls at Cabot.

Congrats Grads: Fessenden Terrorizes Teens with Latest Environmental Horror
According to the films of Larry Fessenden, Mother Nature poses the greatest threat of all to mankind, and his latest film, Beneath, upholds his recent trend of compromising environmental horror motifs as evidenced in both Wendigo (2001) and The Last Winter (2006). While initially seeming a derivative exercise ‘beneath’ the considerable talents of Fessenden’s delightfully weird aesthetics, it quickly reveals itself to be a wicked hearted exercise that slides effortlessly from man vs. nature to man vs. man enterprise all in one shrill, drawn out note.
Having just graduated from high school, six friends have banded together for one last hurrah before they each disburse for college after the summer. Johnny (Daniel Zovatto) has been a sweetheart and offered his family’s private cabin on the isolated body of water they own called Black Lake. The opening credits gloss over ominous newspaper...

In the new monster movie Beneath, a group of boat-trapped teens are menaced by a giant fish — although, as things go from bad to worse to whatever-comes-after-worse, it becomes clear the real monsters are the kids themselves rather than their piscine predator.
“That’s the point of the film!” laughs Beneath director Larry Fessenden, whose previous credits include 2001′s Wendigo and 2006′s The Last Winter. “That’s a little bit about my obsession that people have been parenting wrong. I tried to show some compassion for the characters, but they’re all just in for themselves and it leads to a bad end.

Johnny (Daniel Zovatto) takes five of his classmates out to his family's land on Black Lake to celebrate their high school graduation. Notice I did not say "friends" because these associations are much more superficial than that. These are high school kids, remember, so they choose their "friends" as if selecting political allies -- and it is the selfish motivations of these particular teenagers that keeps Larry Fessenden's Beneath afloat. This is precisely why so many horror films focus on high school kids, because the power dynamics of teenagers are so damn fascinating. Besides it is their youthful know-it-all naiveté and carelessness that always seems to get them in trouble in the first place. Kitty (Bonnie Dennison) is the blonde femme fatale, whom everyone lusts after. She is the connecting dot who brought the other five people together. Time and time again, Kitty is the source of tension in the narrative,...

Title: Beneath Director: Larry Fessenden Starring: Daniel Zovatto, Bonnie Dennison, Chris Conroy, Jonny Orsini, Mackenzie Rosman, Griffin Newman, Mark Margolis Nice ribbons of naturalism and even poetical idyll root “Beneath,” a sort of lake-set “Jaws” homage, before an unconvincing turn toward “Lord of the Flies” territory and even more unconvincing acting conspire to sink the low-budget indie horror offering. Here's the trailer for a new horror thriller called Beneath which tells the story of a bloodthirsty underwater predator which "leaves a group of teens trapped on a leaking boat in the middle of a lake, the friends must choose between loyalty and survival in this monstrous morality tale." It may not look like the greatest movie in the world, but I had to post it because it's just a stupidly funny concept for a horror movie. I mean seriously... it's a group of teens trapped in a canoe being attacked by a monster! On top of that, there's some good old fashioned teen drama. I couldn't help but laugh at this trailer.
