Wreck-It Ralph is now 10 years old. While its sequel was a gigantic, sloppy mess of internet references, the original holds up as one of the better takes on the mega crossover subgenre. Hence even though the movie’s characters of Ralph and Felix (John C. Reilly and Jack MacBrayer) are pastiches of Donkey Kong and Mario, their world (or minimized multiverse?) is full of many pre-existing characters from real video games. Folks like Q*Bert and Dig Dug pop up as either supporting players or background dressing.
Of course, the biggest use of the crossover plot device is Bad Anon, a support group for video game villains that bookends the movie. Ralph bares his soul there to his various counterparts from different games. Some of them are legit video game characters like Neff from Altered Beast and Clyde from Pac-Man. Then you get the legally distinct types like Cyborg and Shinobi,...

Wreck-It Ralph (voice of Reilly) longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voice of McBrayer). Problem is, nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes… so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan – win a medal – but soon wrecks everything, and accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. But will he realize he is good enough to become a hero before it’s “Game Over” for the entire arcade?...

In June, we brought you a truly awesome trailer for Walt Disney Animation’s Wreck-It Ralph kickin’ it old skool with an arcade game premise where the title character, voiced by John C. Reilly, wants to be a good guy for once.
Director Rich Moore (Futurama, The Simpsons) declared at San Diego Comic-Con that Alan Tudyk (Serenity, Dollhouse) would be lending his voice to King Candy, “the leader of the land of Sugar Rush.”
According to EW, Disney has also added a list of casting announcements that include:
Mindy Kaling, aka Kelly from The Office, will voice Taffyta Muttonfudge, “one of the mean-girls from Sugar Rush. Ed O’Neill (Modern Family, Married with Children) will play a non-video game character, the owner of Litwak’s Family Fun Center & Arcade’s owner. Dennis Haysbert aka President David Palmer of 24 and voice of Allstate Insurance to voice General Hologram of a game called Hero’s Duty.

Please excuse any notable ignorance when it comes to the process of casting an animated film — this is not my territory, to be perfectly honest — but, still, it seems odd that a film less than four months away could now add twelve to its roster. (Don’t these things take a lot of time to make? No?) When said roster is actually this good, though, any inquiries don’t mean a whole lot.
A press release has succinctly told us about the additions, and you can read the hard facts below:
Alan Tudyk (ABC’s “Suburgatory,” “Dodgeball”) as King Candy, ruler of Sugar Rush, a candy-coated cart racing game
Ed O’Neill (ABC’s “Modern Family”) as Mr. Litwak, owner of Litwak’s Family Fun Center & Arcade
Mindy Kaling (“The Mindy Project,” “The Office”) as Taffyta Muttonfudge, an accomplished racer and Vanellope’s nemesis
Adam Carolla (“The Adam Carolla Show”) as Wynchel,...
