The recent conversation around artificial intelligence has made Fox Business’ “How America Works” host Mike Rowe revert to the “same old broken record” he’s been repeating for the past 20 years: learn a skill that’s in demand.
“It’s tough to get the poop back in the goose, especially with a thing like this. So yeah, I’m concerned, but I don’t really know what panic is going to do for the average person who’s looking at how is this going to impact my career, my life, my ability to provide for my family,” Rowe said while on a recent episode of “Fox and Friends.”
That’s when the former host of “Dirty Jobs” returned to the advice he’s been giving for decades. “Learn something that can’t be replaced with a robot or with artificial intelligence. Those jobs are screamingly open rights now — plumbers, steamfitters,...

Food gurus like Anthony Bourdain and Stanley Tucci will no longer figure as prominently in the recipe for programming at CNN.
The pair are among the celebrities who helped pioneer a winning new formula at the outlet: Take viewers to places they couldn’t normally get to, add some beautiful shots of food or culture and, voila! The news outlet secured a new foothold in documentaries and docu-series that won the attention of top advertisers and could be played again and again.
Now, according to a memo from the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed outlet’s top executive, such ingredients are being put back on the shelf.

With the proliferation of both structured and unstructured reality programs, the TV academy chose to split the reality program category at the Emmy Awards into two separate categories in 2014 to better recognize achievements in both genres. This year’s structured entrant total is up two from last year at 36 but still significantly down from 47 in 2020 and 43 in 2019. Just five shows on the list below will end up as official nominees on July 12.
All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 27 to cast their ballots for their favorite structured reality shows. In the past, voters were limited in the number of such shows that they could put forth, but that restriction was lifted in 2017. Unlike at the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally.

Turns out the toughest part of rebooting Discovery’s gloriously grimy reality hit, Dirty Jobs, which sends host Mike Rowe out to apprentice with skilled laborers, is finding enough grubby new gigs for him. “The challenge now is not to get dirty and work hard; the challenge is to apply it to jobs that we haven’t done,” says the king of crud in his distinctive baritone voice, one that bounced off mine shafts, septic tanks, and other filthy surfaces during the series’ initial 2005 to 2012 run. (Credit: Discovery) With more than 170 episodes and the 2020 reunion series Dirty Jobs: Rowe’d Trip under his tool belt, Rowe felt now was the right time to hit the grit again because the global pandemic had put the spotlight on essential workers. It’s a group he champions with Mike Rowe Works, a foundation that promotes careers in the skilled trades and provides scholarships.
