A whole boatload of new character designs have been revealed for Young Justice season 3. While some of these are fan favorite characters, who many people have been excited to see for awhile, there was also one mysterious character that has left many fans wondering who it is.
The line-up for the team includes Static, Kid Flash, Robin, Wonder Girl, Spoiler, Blue Beetle, Thirteen, Arrowette, Arsenal, and Beast Boy.
There are some characters who have grown a bit since their initial appearance in the series, which is pretty cool. As many people know, there was a time jump in the storyline from Season 1 to Season 2, so some things had to change. As you'd imagine, that's also the case with Season 3. In the new season, Stephanie Brown has become Spoiler and the little girl that Artemis saved in Season 2 has become a hero in her own right with the name of Arrowette.

This review is based off a volume that collects Detective Comics #934-940
Although DC renumbered most series in its line when Rebirth kicked off last summer, they thankfully returned some of their oldest flagship titles to original numbering, specifically Detective Comics and Action Comics. This may not seem like a big deal to the average Joe, but when you take into account that ‘Tec will soon hit the 950 milestone – and eventually 1000 – there’s no denying that’s quite the impressive feat.
With the first collection of the new era, Rise of the Batmen, writer James Tynion IV once again makes juggling ensembles look easy. After dazzling readers with Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninjas Turtles, he’s effectively turned Detective Comics into a Bat Family team-up book. His handling of Batman, Batwoman, Red Robin, Spoiler, Orphan and a reformed Clayface is done so capably that everyone gets the proper amount of focus,...

Promoting The Accountant last week (which seems to be a bit of a misfire), Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick took park in an amusing skit for MTV (see above) which saw the latter dress up as Robin and ask The Batman star and director for a role in the highly anticipated release. While the whole thing may have been a joke, it’s since taken on a life of its own on social media.
As it turns out, a lot of comic book fans would love to see Kendrick play Robin, and now, Joe Manganiello (who’s going to play Deathstroke in the film) has added some fuel to the fire by sharing the Instagram post seen below. While this should by no means be taken as confirmation that the Pitch Perfect star is going to play the character, it’s certainly pretty interesting, and it’s hard not to...

In a humourous new interview with MTV, Anna Kendrick lobbies for a role in Ben Affleck's Batman movie. It's a pretty funny skit, especially as it ends with Ben Affleck revealing his disappointment about the actress beating him to her role in the Pitch Perfect franchise! Given their chemistry, it's entirely possible that Affleck could end up casting her in the upcoming DC Comics adaptation, but whether or not she'll get the chance to suit up as Robin - or Batman as she requests here - is hard to say! There's no denying that she would be a good fit for either the Stephanie Brown version of Robin or even Barbara Gordon, but seeing as we know so little about what to expect from The Batman, it's a case of just making wild guesses at this stage. Chances are Kendrick won't end up making an appearance, but Affleck has...

Nicolas Winding Refn, the director behind films such as Bronson, Drive, and Only God Forgives, would love to make a comic book movie. If you’ve seen any of the director’s films, you know he has a hypnotic visual style, and his stories can be very dark and moody. I’ve liked a couple of his films, and it would definitely be interesting to see his take on a superhero film.
The filmmaker recently did an interview with Business Insider and said he would have liked to take on Wonder Woman, but since the character was already taken, he reveals Batgirl would be a cool opportunity for him. When asked about taking on a superhero film he said:
"God, I would love to make one, it would probably be great fun. I just don't know when it's going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom creatively, but I...

Action Comics #957
Story: Dan Jurgens Art: Patrick Zircher Colors: Tomeu Morey
Review: It was very strange just now writing that issue number. 957, wow! I don’t know if DC always planned to forego the new 52 numbering to bring this back, or even if New 52 somehow made it past its eventual demise that DC would have just returned to this numbering anyway. Regardless, here we are in the midst of a Rebirth for DC Comics and we get the “Rebirth” of some classic numbering (see Detective...

Written by Cameron Stewart and Brenden Fletcher
Art by Eleonora Carlini and Moritat
Colors by Serge Lapointe
Letters by Steve Wands
Published by DC Comics
Filler really is a kind of a dirty word to use to refer to a comic, and Batgirl #47 definitely isn’t that. However, with artist Babs Tarr sidelined for this issue and the main plot of discovering what is behind, this issue is a slight drop in quality compared to the spectacular wedding issue and last issue’s battle with gangs and gentrification. We do get to see Batgirl work in a group dynamic with both Spoiler and Bluebird, who she somehow forgot from Batman Eternal as they find out without a shadow of a doubt that it was Batgirl, who hacked her own data and tipped off the police about the kids from Forster Lane being in gangs. This leads to more self-doubt...

Like Barbara Gordon’s agile mind and dancer-like fighting form, writers Cameron Stewart and Brenden Fletcher tend to balance several plot threads in each Batgirl issue, and this one is no exception. The three main ones are real estate developers using teenagers in various street gangs to drive out tenants so they can gentrify Burnside, Stephanie Brown aka Spoiler getting a bounty put on her because she witnessed Eiko Hasigawa (Catwoman’s lover during Genevieve Valentine’s run on the book) executing mob leaders, and also her continued lapses of memory, which might have led to a scientific breakthrough. Although, Stewart and Fletcher’s plot has a lot of moving parts, it comes organically out of character relationships and the dark,...

Published by DC Comics
After last week’s blockbuster opening, Batman and Robin Eternal #2 has a little bit of a sophomore slump as a mysterious assassin almost beats Harper Row (aka Bluebird) to death until she is saved by Dick Grayson and a silent, deadly Cassandra Cain, who runs off to do other mysterious things. After the extended action scene, most of the issue is Stephanie freaking out about Dick being alive along with a flashback of Batman and Dick Grayson as Robin fighting the Scarecrow with some twisted, horror influenced art from Paul Pelletier and Tony Kordos and a bendy, trippy color scheme from Rain Beredos. This sequence makes up for a mostly lackluster fight scene between the mystery attacker, Cass, and...

The relationship between Batman and his various Robins has always been a problematic one. There is something off about a wealthy, not-right-in-the head man, who saw his parents gunned down in front of his face choosing to train a young boy to be a soldier against criminals and supervillains. But there is also something nostalgic and heartwarming about Batman and a young Robin teaming up to take down the bad guys that fans of all eras can connect to from Adam West and Burt Ward in the campy 1966 Batman TV show to Batman and the intelligent Tim Drake in the 1990s cartoons and comics and even more recently with the father/son squabbles between Batman and Damian Wayne.

Batman: The Twelve Cent Adventure #1 (2004)

Published by DC Comics
Since “Knightfall” in the early 90s where Batman’s back was broken by Bane and he was replaced by Azrael, the Batman family crossovers have turned Gotham City into a playground of violence, status quo shifts, and occasionally teamwork. Batman: The Twelve Cent Adventure #1 is the prelude to the yearlong “War Games” crossover, which involved the biggest gang war in Gotham history. The crossover showed that Batman didn’t just have to fight costumed supervillains, like the Joker and Scarecrow, but could also deal with the labyrinthine threat of organized crime. (Even if these crime lords have masked and/or metahuman bodyguards like Deadshot and Silver Monkey.) The Twelve Cent Adventure introduces the major crime players of Gotham in a manner that is...

Happy Batman Day, everyone! Around the world, May 1st may mark a spring holiday, but here, it marks the first appearance of the Dark Knight, in Detective Comics No. 27, in 1939.
For the past 76 years, the Caped Crusader has been fighting Gotham City evildoers in comic books, movies, TV shows, and pretty much anywhere else you can shine a Bat-signal. Throughout the years, Bruce Wayne's alter ego has gone through many incarnations, not just in actors (from Adam West to Michael Keaton to Christian Bale to Ben Affleck, among the many), but also in character, from haunted avenger to squeaky-clean do-gooder to campy clown to kinky prowler to world-weary fighter. He's due for yet another change this week, with the releases of DC's Batman No. 40 -- in which Bruce Wayne and the Joker finally kill each other (or do they?) and a special issue of DC's Divergence, where an undisclosed character...

It's time for a new type of Batman - Boy Wonder. At least, that's the premise from the team of writer Lee Bermejo and artists Rob Haynes and Khary Randolph. Their intriguing, We Are Robin series will not feature Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown or Damian Wayne. Instead, the lead of the series will be Duke Thomas, a young African-American teenager who made his comic book debut in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Batman: Zero Year. Duke is a key figure in the "Robin Movement" a group of Gotham teens who make it their mission to protect and serve their city. Bermejo told USA Today that 'We Are Robin' is a "chance to expand the Robin character past teenage white kids who all look the same." Bermejo has stated that the series will also explore just why Batman would ever allow teenagers into his dangerous world of crime-fighting.

After his death and time travel, Bruce Wayne returns and reclaims his rightful place as Batman. However, after his adventures and trials in Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne miniseries, he realizes that his approach towards crime fighting has been too narrow. Bruce Wayne reveals that he has been funding Batman since his inception and announces Batman Incorporated, a global network of Batman’s friends, family, and allies to help fight crime throughout the world. Batman Inc. also is the beginning of the end of Grant Morrison’s five year Batman storyline and elements from earlier storylines are present in this series ranging from members of the Club of Heroes to Bruce Wayne’s dead love interest Jet Black, who also funded the Black Glove criminal organization.
Here are capsule reviews of the nine issues of the first volume of Batman Inc, which takes place before the New 52.

Batgirl has undergone several transformations over the years, with the most recent redo (brought on by The New 52) being met with much fanfare as it saw the return of the original Batgirl, Barbara Gordon, to the role. Also having Gail Simone writing the book doesn’t hurt either. While most were excited about the pairing and what it would bring, this move came right after the previous creative team had solidified Stephanie Brown as a worthy successor. Since The New 52, she has yet to resurface. While I was ecstatic to have Babara back, there was a small raincloud above the whole thing. DC had finally gotten me to care about Stephanie and get into the book's overall light-hearted tone, and then they yank the rug out from under me.

Batman Eternal #13
Written by Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV
Art by Mikel Janin and Guillermo Ortego, Cover by Dustin Nguyen
Published by DC Comics
James Gordon has not yet been freed from prison. Let that sink in for a moment. His interrogator at Blackgate Prison is not a fellow police officer but his son, James Gordon Jnr. While the two men have a heart-to-heart, Stephanie Brown loses a friend and Vicki Vale begins to hunt down the Batman, and slowly these individual tales take on lives on their own.
Batman writer Scott Snyder is only one of several talents behind Batman Eternal, a year-long weekly series that runs parallel to Batman. Because of the weekly format, the separate stories can take a slower pace than a reader would normally expect, and having each writer in the series tackle a different genre allows for greater variety in tone and content.

But none other are as popular or long-lasting as his young side-kick, Robin. The first in the long line of successive costumed cohorts was Dick Grayson, the young circus acrobat left orphaned after a high trapeze act runs afoul. After Dick grows up and assumes the mantle of “Nightwing”, the next in line to don the yellow cape would be the irritable Jason Todd. A tad too precocious for some and downright annoying to most, Todd would eventually be voted to death by DC fans when the company left it up to them to dial a 900-number to seal his fate. Damian Son Of Batman #1 – Andy KubertAs a fan of Damian Wayne over the past few years, I was hyped for this book from Day One. A slightly grown up Damian returning to comics is probably the best thing that could’ve happened right now considering Grant Morrison unnecessarily killed him off. Regardless, I never liked Damian in the beginning, mostly due to the fact that Chris Burnham’s version of Damian with that extremely wide head made me think that the character was just so…stupid. I didn’t really start to understand and like Damian until I started reading the fantastic Stephanie Brown-Batgirl series (“What chest?”), but that’s a whole different story right now. All by himself, Andy Kubert unleashes Damian: Son Of Batman #1. So in a quick overview of the first issue without revealing any huge revelations, Damian and Batman investigate a series of slaughters of...

A couple of weeks ago, Marvel sent out a preview for Wolverine and the X-Men #37, which showed a variant cover and interior pages that showed a strangely dressed Quentin Quire. It didn’t take much (or any) detective work to figure out that the Phoenix Force was making its return to the Marvel U (well, it has been a while), and some fans were more than a little incensed that they’d had what would likely be a major plot point revealed for them in a less than elegant manner. Before you say anything about simply not reading the story to avoid spoilers, let me add that the Phoenix connection was made explicit in the very title of Cbr’s (and other sites’) articles, making it difficult for anyone reading Marvel’s current ‘Battle of the Atom’ storyline to experience events as they unfolded.

Former Robin and Batgirl, Stephanie Brown will be making her return to DC Comics in Batman: Eternal in the third issue of the newly announced weekly series by DC Comics. Two years ago after the "New 52" reboot, several fans were disappointed to learn that Barbara Gordon had claimed the cowl after recovering from the events of The Killing Joke, preventing Cassandra Cain or Stephanie Brown from ever donning the cowl. Now at the Batman panel at New York Comic-Con, (via Cbr) Batman writer Scott Snyder has revealed that the character Will return in the third issue of Batman: Eternal, saying that "We know that they're characters that you guys have been really vocal about. Your guys' love of Stephanie Brown have been so inspiring to us. We're really proud to announce that she'll be coming back in [new weekly series 'Batman: Eternal'], in a big way. Dan Didio is in...

(Cbr) Devotees of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy — particularly those who hoped a follow-up might center on Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake — may find a lot to enjoy in "The Dark Knight Legacy", a seven-minute fan film that debuted this morning on Machinima. Directed by Brett Register from a script by Woody Tondorf and Chris Landa, the short picks up a year after the events of The Dark Knight Rises, as Blake (as Nightwing) tries to “protect the symbol of Batman from the lethal, relentless attacks of a masked vigilante known only as the Red Hood.” (Fan-favorite character Stephanie Brown also...

While we have to wait a few more years to find out how the casting pans out, there's one thing that a Ben Affleck Batman does signal: no more appearances by Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Robin John Blake.
Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" concluded with Blake as the heir to Bruce Wayne's Bat-mantle, a development that would surely have led to a very interesting—and very different—status quo for Gotham City. But with Batman's fate now firmly tangled up with Superman's, a void has been created—one that filmmakers Woody Tondorf and Chris Landa hope to fill with "The Dark Knight Legacy."
The fan film has a teaser produced, one that shows off pretty high production values for a fanmade film. The clip also includes several notable Gothamites, most all of which were absent from Nolan's trilogy. The Red Hood, Penguin, Ventriloquist, and (get ready...

A fan-made continuation of the Dark Knight Trilogy has arrived online.
Short film The Dark Knight Legacy has been released alongside an Indiegogo campaign for an ongoing web series.
The filmmakers are seeking to crowdfund the story set a year after the events of The Dark Knight Rises.
The seven-minute short features Nightwing - aka John Blake - and Stephanie Brown, a one-time Batgirl from DC Comics continuity who was written out with the 2011 reboot.
It sees the dangerous vigilante Red Hood execute a gathering of Gotham crime bosses.
The Dark Knight Legacy campaign has raised $10,175 (£6,400) of its $30,000 (£19,000) goal with 30 days left.
Blake was portrayed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt in The Dark Knight Rises. Brown has been declared a "toxic" character by DC editorial and has not returned to the comics despite vocal fan support for the character.

Get More: MTV Shows DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee stated that while the comic book publisher plans storylines well ahead into the future, it's a "constantly shifting landscape." Case in point, the upcoming fallout from "Trinity War" is "Forever Evil" which sees the villains triumphant in the aftermath of the various Justice Leagues fighting amongst themselves. In that chaos, fellow co-publisher Dan Didio reveals that Stephanie Brown was almost set to make her New 52 introduction however, his description sounds like it's probably best she's not going to be included at least in terms of Brown having a lasting presence. Said Didio, "Where we stand is that there are a number of characters that we still haven't introduced into the New 52. Is Stephan Brown a fan of yours (asked Didio to the interviewer)? She almost made the Forever Evil storyline but actually, for the fans of hers, they'll be...

DC Comics have announced a mini-series starring the (supposedly) dead Damian Wayne, set for release later this year, according to an exclusive at the NY Post.
Back in February this year, Damian Wayne, the latest Robin and Batman/Bruce Wayne’s biological son, was killed in the pages of Grant Morrison’s Batman Incorporated #8, an event that was reported on major news networks around the world. Fans of the character mourned the loss and DC ran a brief remembrance series in their Bat-titles called Requiem.
But the old rule of comics that no one stays dead except Uncle Ben has come true once again as DC have announced they will be running a 4-issue miniseries starring Damian, written and drawn by Andy Kubert, later this year.

Contrary to the common belief inherent in Batman's filmography, Robin: the Boy Wonder is nothing short of essential to the character of Batman. Since the 1940s, Robin has been latched onto his side as not only a balance of character or an appeal to a younger audience, but as a concept that completes the character of Batman and makes him what he must be when all is said and done: a human being. Without the younger, more cheerful, and more vulnerable ward at his side, Batman would become engulfed in a darkness that would consume him in a matter of time. What many laypeople do not know is that the black and yellow cape has been worn by five separate characters (within comic continuity), making the Bat-Family much more like a real one, with older and younger siblings, awkward reunions, and even family tragedies (Stephanie Brown filled in as Robin...

Tim Drake. Batman’s third Robin (a title he held for nearly 20 years). A master detective with genius level intellect, a talented fighter and acrobat, and one of DC’s most popular characters. Until recently that is.
With the New 52 reboot starting in 2011, many characters and stories have changed. Martian Man-Hunter, once one of the leading members of the Justice league, was relegated to the little known “Stormwatch” for a time and currently finds himself without a book at all. And Stephanie Brown, a former Robin herself and the most recent Batgirl, seems to have disappeared completely from the new continuity. So what about Tim Drake? He is still present in Gotham City, but not like he used to be.
With Dick Grayson starring in Nightwing, Jason Todd in Red Hood and the Outlaws and Damien Wayne in Batman and Robin, Drake is the only Robin with no book to his name.

Director James Gunn, who was hired by Disney to write and direct Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," has incited outrage with an online article about superhero sex.
Gunn has been labeled sexist and homophobic due to slurs and graphic descriptions included in his blog post, "The 50 Superheroes You Most Want to Have Sex With," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The article, which has since been removed, was originally posted to jamesgunn.com on Feb. 17, 2011, and ranks the top 50 results gathered from Facebook and Twitter responses.
In the controversial post, Gunn refers to Gambit as a "Cajun fruit" and says the thought of this character in a threesome "makes me sick to my stomach." He writes about Tony Stark potentially being able to "turn" the "lesbian" superhero Batwoman. Of Batgirl Stephanie Brown, the director writes, "Being a teen mom and all, you know she’s easy. Go for it."

At long last, the first episode for the new fan webseries "Batgirl: Spoiled" has arrived.
The 11-minute-long video gives just a taste of the rest of the "Batgirl: Spoiled" world. After being introduced to Stephanie Brown, we see the Batgirl quickly bite off much more than she can chew when she tries to stop two men from stealing a car. This webseries promises at least one full season, but in this episode alone we meet Oracle, Penguin and Harley Quinn. We can't to see who else from the Batman mythology makes an appearance in this new series.
Sure, "Batgirl: Spoiled" isn't a Christopher Nolan project, but the fan-made show has a lot of promise. The choreography is pretty great for a webseries and it's nice to see that Brown has her time to shine. Of course, it doesn't look like she's doing too great at the end of episode one,...

It was about 15 months ago that DC Comics announced it would undergo a relaunch of its entire comic book universe. Enter the New 52.
We now find ourselves passing the one-year mark of the first of its new titles hitting the shelves, with more than enough to reflect on as the publisher has given us some good, some bad and some downright puzzling.
It goes without saying that money is the motivation for the entire endeavor - despite DC's talk of a unified continuity and modern accessibility - and this has been a point of criticism by many longtime readers. But isn't every business in it to turn a profit? That doesn't mean we can't get a worthwhile product for our hard-earned cash though.
Let's start on a positive note. DC wanted new readers - or at least more of them - in the midst of a swooning market while time...

A new trailer has arrived for the upcoming Batgirl: Spoiled web series starring Marisha Ray as Stephanie Brown and Taliesin Jaffe as The Riddler. Created by Damian Beurer, the web series is inspired by Bryan Q. Miller’s Batgirl series and follows the adventures of Stephanie Brown, the third Batgirl to patrol Gotham City. In addition to the title character, it appears that several other Bat-family members will be making appearances in the series, including Batwoman, The Question, Oracle, Jim Gordon and many more.
“After a close call leading to a falling out with Batman and Oracle, Batgirl goes out on her own to reexamine her place in Gotham and the world at large. Stephanie spends her days seeking advice from Gotham’s various heros, and her nights patrolling the streets in a seemingly endless battle against crime. All this while attending college, having a social life and finding time to sleep.

In a lengthy interview with IGN Comics, writer Bryan Q. Miller has talked more about the introduction of Batman and Nightwing to the Smallville universe. While the show ended its run with a disappointing finale last year (most fans were left fuming that after ten years they didn't get a proper look at Tom Welling in full costume as the Man of Steel) the series has continued in the form of a digital comic book series. The full interview and more artwork can be found by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page. On The Decision To Replace Stephanie Brown With Barbara Gordon As Nightwing: The editorial staff wanted a more "iconic character" in this case. Given the nature of our female Nightwing’s use in the story, of the available replacements, I leaned toward having Babs wielding the charged-escrima. That really was the beginning and the end of it.

Like yesterday's round of "Dark Knight Rises" reading, today's edition dives heavily into spoiler territory — specifically about Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character, Detective John Blake. Proceed with extreme caution!
So, the rumors of Gordon-Levitt's character in "Rises" being Robin have finally proven themselves to be true! More or less. But John Blake was far from the first Robin to aid the Dark Knight in his time of need. In fact, in the comic books, there have already been five Robins to date since the Boy Wonder's first appearance in 1940.
Starting with Dick Grayson, an 8 year old acrobat, and then passing on to Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Damian Wayne (in that order — and that's not even mentioning out-of-continuity Robins like Carrie Kelley), each Robin has acted as a loyal partner, apprentice, and friend to Batman throughout the years. One could even argue that if it weren't for his trusty sidekick,...
