In the last decades of the 20th century Kent Weishaus was an associate producer for Dick Clark Productions, 4 Disney specials, Carson Productions hit sit-com, "Amen," and "The Arsenio Hall Show." He went on to line produce an ABC special called "Lassie Unleashed," and then become Executive in Charge on a Paramount late-night pilot featuring MTV's Bill Bellamy.
Making a lateral move into post-production and live booth duties, in 1995 Mr. Weishaus joined the staff of Paramount's syndicated hit, "Hard Copy" as Associate Director. In 1999 he handled Post Producer chores on Tribune's "Richard Simmons' Dream Maker." and then went on for a stint as Vice President of Production at Team Communications Group. In 2001 Kent became Post A.D. on Columbia TriStar's "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus," where he wrote, directed and produced all of that show's opens and teases, and supervised polish editing.
During 2002 Mr. Weishaus' work as Associate Director helped win a Daytime Emmy Award for best Direction on The Food Network's "Wolfgang Puck Show." He was also Coordinating Producer on Tribune's "Sixth Annual Prism Awards," and Director of Post Production on the "Dr. Phil" show. In 2003 Kent was Co-Executive Producer on a pilot that he created for ABC Family called "Arts High, Idyllwild." After that Kent also handled Post-Production Direction on Columbia TriStar's hit game show, "Pyramid" and was Producer at Rehearsals.com, an online streaming-video venture that was part of CenterStaging Productions. In 2007 Kent was Post Producer for E! Entertainment's "Extreme Hollywood."
Kent then took a 5year hiatus from production to get his Masters of Social Work and begin a new career as a clinical therapist in acute-care psychiatric hospitals, a Los Angeles community clinic, and finally in his own private practice. In 2012 while working as a shrink Kent found time to return briefly to his former career in order to direct a documentary on nihilist performance artist, Elisha Shapiro.
