There’s officially a new member in the Snook line of succession.
Sarah Snook has given birth to her first child with her husband, Australian comedian Dave Lawson, announcing the new arrival on Instagram just one day after the highly-anticipated “Succession” finale.
“It’s hard to express what this show has meant to me,” Snook captioned a pic of her and her new bundle of joy watching the acclaimed HBO series together. “The places I got to go, the immense talent I got to work with…it breaks my heart that it is all over. But my heart had to be this full of all the memories, good times, challenges and triumphs, to be able to break at all…so that makes me grateful. To have been blessed to join this crazy adventure of a show will be a career highlight, which will no doubt be hard to top. I am so,...

It’s been difficult in recent days to fully invest in the upcoming Golden Globes race, no matter how tight the competition might be or what could possibly be gleaned from the scraps of information that will surface in the show’s wake. Will Netflix’s “The Queen’s Gambit” need to worry about HBO’s “The Undoing” gaining the high ground in the upcoming limited series Emmy race, or maybe Amazon Prime Video’s “Small Axe” is an underground threat to upset them both? That’s to say nothing of what’s burbling in comedy series, where Apple TV+’s “Ted Lasso” would seem to be the obvious favorite heading into summer, but finding surprisingly stiff competition in HBO Max’s “The Flight Attendant.”
The Golden Globes, stripped of their celebratory folderol by the pandemic and tarnished by ongoing scandals haunting the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, feels particularly perfunctory this year.

“I’m as much of a fan of the show as other people seem to be because I love everybody’s work and it’s great, but it’s a real surprise,” admits Emmy nominee Sarah Snook about HBO’s “Succession,” which became more popular than ever last season.
“I guess I’m still dealing with that a bit as well ‘cause people are like, ‘you’re on a hit show,’ I’m like, ‘Are we? What does that even mean? That’s nice!’ It’s nice that people like it. I enjoy doing it.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Snook above from before the noms announcement.

Not only has the Covid-19 pandemic upended the entertainment business, it also put a sudden dent in what had been a more straight-ahead race to Emmy glory this year. A year ago, “Succession” Season 2 launched right in the middle of voting, and quickly turned into a phenomenon. The “Succession” buzz was so loud that pundits were already predicting a 2020 Emmy win for the show — even though the 2019 race, which featured a drama nomination for the show’s first season, hadn’t even been determined. The assumption, of course, was that Season 3 of the show would again premiere in the August voting window, and make so much noise that a win would be all but a foregone conclusion.
But then coronavirus happened, slamming the brakes on production and leaving “Succession” without a new season off of which to drift. Now, with the drama series category expanded to eight contenders, the race is a bit more compelling.

In quintessential Logan Roy fashion, the HBO series “Succession” absolutely dominated Emmy nominations in terms of acting recognition. After an across-the-board snub by the acting branch last year, the Roy family came roaring back with an impressive nine acting bids, over-performing our own high expectations. In addition to the blindside of Cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun) sneaking into the competitive Supporting Actor category, “Succession” also picked up an unexpected nomination for Harriet Walter, who only 222 of our users correctly predicted––this author included.
Though Walter’s nomination indicates just how much the acting branch loved and paid close attention to the second season of the series, her surprise appearance in the category could potentially stymie a “Succession” victory in the Guest Actress category, where two-time Emmy-winner Cherry Jones also competes for her “Succession” turn as media mogul Nan Pierce. Might the surprise, second nomination in this category actually cost “Succession” some Emmy gold?...

“Succession” could be back in production before the end of the year (with a big emphasis on could).
Season 3 of the hit HBO series, which recently garnered a whopping 18 Emmy nominations, was originally scheduled to start shooting in April, but for obvious Covid-19 related reasons, production has been delayed indefinitely. The plan, at least for now, is “trying to think about starting shooting in New York before Christmas,” according to showrunner and creator Jesse Armstrong.
Armstrong stressed that those plans are far from concrete and are still “just conversations,” describing the current situation as “tough.”
“Who knows if that’ll come about, but that’s the plan at the moment,” Armstrong told Variety.
As for how the workflow for season 3 is coming along, Armstrong said that, like many writers, the expanded amount of time he now has to develop the upcoming season isn’t necessarily proving all that helpful.
